I was swapping out my WRX mirrors for STI ones and was dismayed to see I had to take the flippin' door panels off. Thanks to your video, I discovered it wasn't as daunting as I originally thought. One word of warning - the clip attached to the tweeter has a tendency to fall off inside the door. I rescued mine once, but lost it when I fiddled with the door again.
Hmm, you should cut out the sections that are closing up holes in the door... use those to create a template on some galvanized steel sheeting or aluminum flashing, then get some 3M grey/red foam mounting tape and use the metal bits to close off the holes and put a fresh layer of matting over it. You can GREATLY improve mid-bass response in the subie doors if you do that.
Great job! You did a very clear job on filming too. I am vinyl wrapping my trim pieces and would need to do this. Once removed are there screws or clips behind the door panel to remove the trim around the door handles? Or are those pieces glued and fixed without any chance of removal?
good video bro but I don't think you need to remove the hand grip. it is just an extra process that really isn't nessicery unless it prevented the panel from coming off. You taking that screw out is what holds that handle panel into the door so once that screw is out, pop the panel and take the plugs out if you want still don't have too when the panel is off. I just wanted to see what the speaker plate looked like. I have a pair of 3 ways I am probably going to install. WE will see if I feel like running speaker wire to the door or not for the crossovers lol
I have a question, I plan on changing my mirrors. Mine's a base 2009 2.5i sedan and do I need to remove the door panel to change the mirrors? I see that in your video, you remove the tweeter first at the top and have access to the three bolts holding the mirror before taking off the entire inner door panel. Thanks.
Hey do you need to do all that to remove the leather part of the door? Somehow the one in the right back door panal got sunk in...I need to pull it out but I'm wondering if I have to take the entire door panal off.
I had no idea until now that the front door speaker has a specific size. I just bought 2 6x9 inches speakers for my subaru impreza ST. Now i realize maybe i made a mistake :O, perhaps they wont fit now. Geez!
Do you happen to know if the inner door handle and its trim are easily removed? I was thinking of popping out that interior door handle trim and doing some kind of visual modification to it with the test of my interior.
When you put back little speaker next to mirrors, do u just push it in? Mine wouldn't click in, did I break smth in there? I have tried for a while and I just cant figure out putting it in. Any suggestions?
It most likely will not fit without modification to the door panel which would involve cutting it. I would not recommend doing that if you ever want to go back to stock.
I have a question about this I hope you can answer. I had my driver side door completely removed by a body shop and ever since I got the car back the plastics inside my car have been popping and snapping. This never made noise prior to them having it. Do you know what all needs to be removed to replace the entire door? Do you think all the popping and snapping I'm hearing is a result of them not replacing something correctly?
The clips are probably no inserted all the way. Look around the door where the plastic meets the metal and see if there a gap. The plastic from the door should lay flush against the metal
Do your door panels rattle alot? even with speakers at low vol? If so whats a good fix? Im thinking of just filling it with some packing foam or something to that effect
I have some dynomat like material in my doors and they don't rattle much. The right one does a little bit but I think the speaker has just come loose over the years. I could fix it but i don't have the time or work space anymore to work on my car.
@@DIYallday I'm looking at re-apolstering those leather armrests. Not sure if you still have the vehicle, but do you know what fasteners are holding that armrest in place? I'm wondering if I can pop it out without having to remove the door card or grey plastic switch cover.
The are CDT audio ES-620 gold speakers. Im very pleased with them and would purchase them again. The are about 3-4 years old and at the time retailed for about $700 but now you could probably find them for about $300 ish.
Hey bud,, can't find a straight answer on this anywhere. They either say one or the other. But.... Is it 6.5 all the way around or are the rears 5.25 ?
That window tip was pure money too.

Thanks man. Simple, informative, just what I needed.
This video is on point, I wonder if shops actually take these precautionary measures.

will definitely be useful in the future. keep churning out these WRX videos man!! subscribed
Video was direct and clear 💯💯💯
this is the first video I saw where I was told to remove the screws hidden onder de window switches
My wires have come out of the connector, you have by chance a photo of the connector?

Hey bro thanks for the video, can you do a video on sound dampening that you added to your car please? Thanks again!
whoa! auto up? i want that! damn 08. :( thanks for the diy!
I assume this is fairly similar on a 2009 forester? I know it has those same tabs with screw points underneath. Will try tonight thanks
Question, the speaker sizes are 6.5in for the front and rears
25 sq ft. should be enough for all 4 door depending on how crazy you get with it (i.e. doing the inner and outer parts of the door.)

Thank you! is this the same concept for a regular 2013 Imprezza?

thanks mate. good video!
Do you have any idea what kind of speakers are in the back door?
Yes it would be the same from 08-13 I believe.

yesssss please.
Thanks very helpful
how much dynomat did you use on your doors? thinking about buying some myself but i dont know how much i should put on
would this work pretty much the same for the 13 hatch since its the same body style?
It most likely will not fit without modification to the door panel which would involve cutting it. I would not recommend doing that if you ever want to go back to stock.
Thanks a ton man
would you suspect this would be the same on the 2015 wrx?
Thank you!
Anyone have a link to a video on how to replace the door handle on the inside?? I can't find anything on that
Thanks Mate.

My front right door rattles depending on the temperature and amount of bumps on the road. I plan to dynamat that door soon. Thanks for the guide.
Yeah, i bought now the correct ones. And the rear speakers im gonna put them in the back obviously LOL.
Where did you find that leather arm rest with the red stitching? I've been looking everywhere!
Andrew Mclaughlin it came like that from the factory.

Are those the OEM tweeters? If so, how do you like them?

I don't know if you got my reply but the speakers are 5x7 front and back. With an adapter you can drop a 6.5" in the 5x7 hole like i did.
5" ou 6"?
i think its the same 5x7 speaker.
ha no im taking my speakers out out . dont want nor need them
*panel lol
