Hey nice video bro! Im barely getting started on spearfishing but i have no one to go with I go to pv a lot just to see people dive in and fish but not really met anyone there yet hope to see you soon there.
Kevin K what’s up bro let’s go! My first gun got messed up but I’m able to get another one. Finding people to go with is harder lol juliog1023@gmail.com is my email address let me know.
Hey thanks man! I've been diving at all different times of the day. Honestly, you just never know what you're going to see out there. Thats part of the reason why i love this sport because you can see something amazing and fantastic every single time you go out, regardless of the time of day. I would say that you have an advantage catching lobster at night, but i don't mind crawling into caves to grab em! Morning dives are good and i hear going at high tide is best!
Well, if you're accustomed to warmer water and not being cold while in the water, monterey and carmel is going to be a big change. Northern California waters are usually colder then southern Calfornia. Picking a wetsuit that you will be comfortable in depends partly on your tolerance to cold water. Also, water temperatures change drastically from summer to winter, which means a winter suit might become to thick and warm in the summer. Do some research on open and closed wetsuits and decide which one you will want. For winter over there, I would recommend a 5mm thickness 2 piece suit(top and bottom). You'll definitely want a hood as well. The water where I fish is around 55 degrees F in the winter and i get by just fine using a 2 piece 5mm open cell wetsuit with a hood and 3mm gloves and socks. Hope this helps! If you have further questions, contact me!
Hey Andrew I was curious if you had any tips for spots or technique that you could give me. I'm 17 and still a rookie, ive been at this for just over a year
Where do you usually go diving? I would say from my own experience, get out there as much as you can! You'll only get better by going more and more and practicing your breath hold techniques and movement in the water. I know this sounds like a generic reply, but it really is the truth. I'm lucky because I live very close to my main dive spot and am able to log in many hours in the water. Always dive with a buddy, and be safe! Spearfishing is not about being a good hunter, its about being a good diver first!
Andrew Baeza thx so much for the response Andrew! I always dive with a buddy that's the #1 rule. Maybe I'll see you out there one day. I wish you the best of luck and thank you again.
you can try dana point front of the break wall, always a good for me to dive but you'll need a kayak to get there fast, or Malibu if your not scare of big fish that can tasty you.
Visibility looks so good!
Nice, big calico and 2 goats! You guys cleaned up! I love diving PV

I just move from Hawaii. What thickness wetsuit will I need to pick up to dive Monterey/Carmel waters?
