It's really sad that camera makers don't add the new features with firmware updates like with cellphones. most of those scenes and smile detects could have been added to my g15 easily.
the only problem is that you can get better cameras for that price, like a few mirrorless cameras and even DSLRs, but then again that lens is pretty impressive.
+Preetty BoyInk If you are looking for a small form-factor, top-flight point and shoot camera that shoots excellent video as well as marvelous still images than the Canon PowerShot G16 is a fine choice. Mark S

How is the noise while shooting indoors with no flash? Sure it uses a big aperture but I guess you will be up on iso1600 or higher while indoors. Will it produce a useable image?
It holds up very well in low light situations. It has a top ISO of 12,800, and these days the sensors being used in the cameras are doing well at higher ISO's indoors/low light without use of flash. - Yossi
Glaskruka It likely would hold up well enough for a wrestling match (it ultimately depends on the lighting). Keep in mind indoors is its own "low lighting" type of topic, then when you mix in sports with indoors it adds the requirement of more speed in the shutter (i.e. demanding more light) to get shutter speeds capable of freezing the moving subjects. It may be a situation where flash is a good thing to keep handy. - Yossi
This is a "best in class" point and shoot camera that offers tremendous build and image quality in a compact, easy to use, form factor. Consider the ability to shoot RAW files, manual, auto, and custom modes and the enhanced Wi-Fi capabilities and overall this camera represents a very good value for a pocketable camera. iyn1911 The image quality will be virtually the same between these two models. They both feature the same 1/1.7" CMOS sensor and both feature a Digic 6 image processor, and the lenses are for all intents and purposes about the same. - Yossi
Hello! I hope you read this. I have a speedlight Yn568 ii high end flash. When it's on my G16 the ttl and hss don't work. What settings should I use? I try to use the flash off camera as mutch as possible but sometimes oncamera is necessary.

Hi, I need one information, for shotting movies I have to select Movies Mode on Mode Dial, press movie button or I can select, for example, P or M or Tv Mode and press Movie Button?
Marco Martinotti Yes. Video is shot only from the camera's "MOVIE" mode setting. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh@bandh.com >Mark
+Augie Scott The two cameras are actually very much the same. They share the same sensor, processor and ISO range. The main difference between the two is the form factor with the S120 being a more compact model. It offers a slightly wider focal with an equivalent field of view to 24mm as its widest focal, vs 28mm in the G16. The G16 has a slightly stronger telephoto focal of 140mm vs. 120mm in the S120. Both shoot at roughly the same frame rate and both record video in 1080p HD resolution.Between the two I would recommend the G16 as it has a faster top shutterspeed which will be useful for your action shots. Both would handle situations like sunsets and scenery and videos at the same quality level. - Yossi Yossi O
Christina do you have documentation of where this actually works? I have tried using the PocketWizard Plus III with the latest firmware and also a PocketWizard Plus X and it does not trigger the strobes. These same triggers work as intended on my Canon 5DMarkII and MarkIII. They also use to work on my old G12 before it bit the dust so I didn't hesitate to pick up the G16 after being assure by B and H presales folks it function as a G12. Of course now that I'm out of the 30day return window I can't seem to get a good answer. Canon only response "can't guarantee third party accessories will work with our product". So now I don't know if it actually doesn't work or if I have a bad copy of the G16 and can't return because I'm outside the return/replacement window since it was purchased early January.
+TheLightworkz I’ve talked to PocketWizard about this, and they do have customers using the G16 with the Plus IIIs and Xs, so they would be compatible. That being said, PocketWizard did mention that you might need to reset the custom functions in the G16. I would suggest trying that. If they still will not work, I would suggest sending us an email and we would be able to trouble shoot this further with you. *Christina* AskPhoto@bhphoto.com

Yes, the Canon PowerShot G16 Digital Camera is a good camera. It is currently Canon's point-and-shoot camera that has the largest sensor for capturing high quality image detail, and would be highly recommended as an advanced point-and-shoot camera.
Landry Sibomana Both are great cameras, and it would be hard to go wrong with either. That being said, I would likely lean towards the G16, due to the larger max aperture and the fact it is a bit faster. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com
I'm having hard time choosing between Canon G16 and Panasonic LX7. Mostly I'll use it for macro shots of small animals, plants, fungi etc. and for landscapes. Can you please help me decide?
It would be hard to go wrong with either the G16 or the LX7. Though between the two, I would likely lean towards the G16. I find that the G16 has the edge in terms of image quality and low light performance. The additional range of its lens can also be quite useful. *Christina* AskUA-cam@bhphoto.com

Does anybody know if there is a lens for Canon G16 that is good for filming a video of people/couples?
the only problem is that you can get better cameras for that price, like a few mirrorless cameras and even DSLRs, but then again that lens is pretty impressive.
I have the G16. I wish it had a pause button when recording videos.
Nice vídeo. I wonder if I could use the 430EXII flash with this câmera.
cristovao freire Yes, the Canon 430EX II flash is fully compatible with the Canon Powershot G16 camera. - Yossi

Amazing review!
Thanks!
How is the view finder of G16 compared to G15? is it accurate now?
It doesn't appear that Canon changed the viewfinder from the G15 to the G16, so it should function in the same way. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

+B and H I think the g16 also has a faster aperture if I'm not mistaken it's 1.8-2.8 vs the s120. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not G16, I'm asking about the G1X!

If you're looking for that I recommend either the Sony RX-100 or the new Panasonic LX-100
Remko v.d. Wielen neither of these camera's are low light kings, but G16 absolutely beats LX7 at higher ISOs and some other minor capabilities
