Stand back - I'm going to say it as its is - no apologies lol - but with love. How can we ascend and evolve and grow if we allow ourselves to be drip fed a diet of ever decreasing nourishment? Spiritually we need to broaden our attention span, focus and have a hunger for MORE gravitas - yet there is an agenda to dumb us all dow3n and deliver us less and less - Shorts, Reels, Soundbites all have their place - but we need to also balance it with substance, intellectual muscle and deepening knowledge. Mastery comes from hours spent, introspection, learning a trade and experiencing in depth - yet we live in a fast 24/7 world that is only getting faster...
Let us celebrate the thinkers in our midst, get behind those that ask us to LISTEN more and DO and REACT less.
Archangel Metatron says we are in an over stimulated world where we are over sensitised and now becoming less able to question, debate, learn, or be open to that which we actually need. We don't even realise we are 'thirsty'...
TV, Media, Technology are all part of our world but need to be used wisely. What can we do to claw back our sanity, rebuild our neural pathways and aspire to something greater than that which we already are or know.
Big questions to reflect on, so what one thing will you do this year to stimulate your intellect so as a species we move from ignorance and fear towards enlightenment and wisdom?
Mentioning: Thich Nhat Hahn, Jordan Peterson, Salman Rushdie, and the soft nuances and reprogramming frequencies of the TV series Marriage with Sean Bean and Nicola Walken - the message and energy of which is going over most peoples heads - because we are programmed to want action and thrills not a slower energy and pace...
Also a card pull from the DreamKeepers Tarot and a chat on not putting dysfunctional labels or afflictions on others in our desire to jump in before knowing full facts.
Above all this is an impassioned call to action towards balancing tabloid fodder with broadsheet depth (not just a reference to our news, but to everything - it is a perfect analogy for our times. But how to be 'broadsheet' in a world that is just sinking to lowest common denominator....

That really resonated. It's like the art of concentration is lost. I was reading before if you pick up a toothbrush or a brush and use your other hand to brush your teeth the brain creates new neuro pathways.i find we do need more ways to increase concentration. It's like when you pick up a book and read it and find it hard to concentrate if you try 5 mins more each night it helps. I do find we are totally over stimulated in a super fast paced world and some people respond by having to talk over the silence I do it myself. I find we either have one extreme or another like complete what some people call verbal diarrhoea or silence but maybe we don't either have the in between or go further into the silence. I also feel a strong pull and pull energy lately. When we are in the moment the body almost resonds in a holistic way it slows down as well. As if everything is in divine timing and for your highest good. Even looking at a pot or bunch of flowers and only concentrating on the colours and flowers itself gets you back into the moment. I remember my grandmother used to knit she was totally in the moment or even the silence. Maybe we need to go back there to old fashioned ways where you switched off the TV and played games. I love scrabble.i love the analogy of the bunker. Maybe the brain has gone the complete opposite way that when you do go into bunker mode that you get drawn back to the technology. We have to try strengthening ourselves the other way. Not only are we over stimulated but we are over bombarded with constant streams of information. I've started writing again. Even if it's journslling again. It's funny yesterday I got out my book the pocket thich nhat hanh because his teachings are so easy to read and flow well. I feel words have energies and books have collective energies. There was alot thar resonated here so I'm going to watch it again. Thanks Amanda. We do need to cultivate the art of listening as well. Is it just me or do certain UA-cam videos create low concentration as well so much so you have to be do selective in what you watch and listen to. Thanks that was a great video.

Be carful with long documentaries though. Not all documentaries have real research behind them but an agenda. My rule of thumb is to see WHO made it. If it’s about science, like that doc I saw about fishing, better see if the scientists involved agree with the documentary first. This doc has their scientists posting other videos for people to know their words where taken out of context. It seems to me someone paid this filmmaker to do one that steers people away from fish buying. I forgot the name, I’ll try to find. it. If a documentary like that is not made BY the or one of the accredited universities where the scientists are from, it’s probably scam as this one was.

In short, longer doesn’t guarantee accuracy. Check who made it and use your critical mind. Never, ever take everything as fact, always use at least two different ones if you can’t check the facts, and origin. Why? Because we are living in a time where the interests of corporations, and also of individuals with incredible wealth, who are using the new media to influence and steer people to vote against their own interests and in favor of only theirs. There is a war out there on information. Use it wisely, as Amanda says. 👍

Marriage - yes! Me and my mum watched it and agreed the plot was very slow, however I was captivated by the interplay between Sean and Nicola, the dynamics and intricacies of their relationship, and how even though their life had become mundane, they are the anchor for each other 👌

So grateful for this Amanda. There is new research who just came out saying ADHD is increasing and the cause is this technology. Even the screen itself, from another study says that for reasons that are not yet known, our brain doesn’t process information the same way through these screens and the ability to remember is very limited, for those who are trying to study via eBooks, for example. It’s just not even close to how much we can absorb from paper. A lot to say about this. Thank you! Thank you! 💛
I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. 👍🔸🧚🏼‍♀️🔶

....just now I watched Jordan Peterson .....explaining why he comes across in the way he does !
Its because he is so passionate at what he needs to deliver and he is trying now to get the tone right -bless !
Its because he cares so much that the wrath rises.
I love him more and more.
Well done Amanda regarding Salman Rushdie, what a well balanced view you put across full of love and compassion.

So interesting that you bring this up because I was just thinking about it. For example, I’ve never downloaded tiktok because I know myself and I’d probably end up just mindlessly scrolling all the time.
I had to leave my apartment for a few days while an exterminator took care of business, and I grabbed 3 things - my phone, iPad, and a book. And instead of using my iPad and phone I found myself finally finishing this book that I’ve had for years and it’s the first time I sat down to read in idek how long.

I totally agree with this wonderful message. Years back, I started watching some card readers on UA-cam regarding politics, current state of affairs, 45, etc. Can't do that anymore, it's just delving into low energy territory the way I see it. I do still check in with you and Pam Gregory, and gardening channels and here in Mexico we have some great political debate programs with some amazing 'old school' thinkers. Thanks for getting this much needed message out. It would be nice if one day we can return to the idea of 'We can agree to disagree', without walking off in a huff.

So glad you mentioned Thich Nhat Hanh. I've been following his mindfulness teachings for a while, and it has made such a difference to me. Certainly brings awareness of how little time we spend in the present moment! Plum Village on YT, App, or website has all the teachings. He's such a calming gentle soul. You dont have to be Buddhist, we all breathe. 🙏

This comes at perfect time for me.... The other night my husband said to me that he married me for my intelligence... the first thing I thought was, my intelligence?.... Didn't he think I was pretty, or funny, or a good cook? The more I thought about it, the more I understand that it was a very sweet compliment and I am grateful for it.
    Good video, Amanda, once again..

Thank you for this. Since the creation of Twitter I've been blaming Sesame Street for the lack of attention span in the world. But they took their cues from the advertising industry which is far more insidious than most people realize. I didn't appreciate Mr. Rogers as a child (except for the Land of Make Believe bit) but as an adult I realize he was the wiser choice. It's funny how you equated the current 'Reel' trend as unsatisfying non-nutritive food. There is a great deal of food science involved in making processed food 'delicious, but not quite satisfying' for the sole purpose of making you want more.

Someone was trying to give me advice about caring for my garden. She said, "Don't you remember the Dirty 30s with the drought?" I had to tell her that I lived in an opposite climate where it rains everyday, and I don't have to "consider how to change my watering method". Maybe she meant well, but she had no expertise in the rainforest. And some people go along with what has been said, not dissecting or thinking many points of view. Love ya'll. Don't allow yourselves to be brainwashed!

Brilliant content. Your videos are never long enough for me.
This entire topic is close to my heart of cultivating space and spaciousness in every facet of existence - speech, interactions with others, our thinking, the physical and mental environments we maintain, and so on. Love the pause. Bask in the silence. Let us not simply blurt something out because we feel we need to say something. Think and feel from our heart space rather than a wounded distortion of ego. Act, don't react. Zoom out for the wider picture to view thru the macro lens. Honor the liminal space and juicy interstices of our lives. The "negative space" is often more valuable to me than "stuff"... and more enjoyable. Foster that breathing space - physically, mentally, emotionally - because you can breath more free and easy that way while allowing things to germinate, develop, enter your field of consciousness. No wonder that inviting stillness is so beneficial. Who relishes asphyxiation of any kind? It stifles life by very definition. Let us live light, in an energetic and physical material-world sense. Let us all strive to foster that easy fluidity, being for the sake of being, reveling in all the glorious little things - which are truly often beguiling in their rich value - which many of us overlook or rush thru because we so often want to "be somewhere else" or constantly stimulated in every moment. It is clutter. That kind of stimulation is artificial - no staying power ultimately exists in that. The real gratifying stimulation unfurls begetting everlasting gratitude, wonder, and wellness when we witness blades of grass swaying in a soft breeze, when we venture to converse with wise trees, when we consciously receive the sun's rays on our skin as its own activity, cultivate awareness for our presence on this plane and others, disconnect from superfluous gadgetry, when we avail proper space to absorb what someone or something is saying while looking them in the eyes without immediately dismissing it or being tempted to "fire back". Fire is never quenched with more fire. Slow down. Slow and steady really does "win the race". That is my continually unfolding experience of it. Flowers take their sweet time to bloom, but when they do, magic happens. You can't hurry love, real love. Be that love. And for fuck's sake, if you are spending time with another human - like out to dinner, for instance - put down the fucking gadget. Whatever it is, it can wait. BE THERE, where you are. Be there. Otherwise, you are never really anywhere at all.
I am not an uptight twat, however. No one likes uptight twats. It bears conceding that I do enjoy a brief lighthearted cat video as much as anyone. Balance - it is healthy to grant ourselves those lighter moments, indulge in them when feeling called, because some of our paths can be heavy or challenging. Self-righteousness about denying yourself something like a brief yet helpful salve of laughter because you need to be "doing" something "spiritual" is not the most helpful angle. You only fool yourself with such false nobility, which is actually ignoble in itself. Love for yourself is indeed spiritual. So, do that. Let yourself off the hook to unwind. That said, even in that regard, I have my limits; cats are my thing because I align with them, not college kids filming themselves snorting hot sauce because they think it is hip. Not my thing. Find what aligns with you. Our various facets and expressions have their voices for certain inspirations or reasons.
To echo Amanda, Thich Nhat Hanh was (is) indeed a master and I would heartily recommend anything from him. I immensely admire and ardently suggest Henry David Thoreau as well - what a visionary, a "simplifist" as I term it.
My little stream-of-consciousness bit here. It serves to remind myself, though perhaps it stimulates another wonderful creature reading this. And if you like Amanda and her work, then you are a little extra wonderful. I like to elevate others, be the obstinate optimist, the harmonizer, a loving messenger. That is a big piece of my role here. So, thank you for reading and feeling this. My healthy attention span means I can expound at length too. Kudos to you for remaining here with me, with us, because that is the entire crux, no?
Blessings to all my fellow light workers and keepers of wisdom - as well as the non light workers - for we all play our respective roles on this big stage,
    David

Absolutely brilliant Amanda! This is something that’s been in my awareness lately. Several times over the last few weeks. I’ve caught myself thinking; how is it that so many people never pick up a book? I’m an avid reader, of all kinds of content. Yes, sometimes I sit down with a light, cozy mystery, but most times, I find myself seeking out new, thought provoking content that encourages growth and healing of the body, mind and spirit. I’m a voracious seeker of knowledge and can’t imagine how droll and stagnant my life would be if I didn’t learn new things on a regular basis.
I have been following you for several years and I want to thank you for always pushing forward, learning and teaching and considering new ideas and ways of being. Your content is better than ever and I want to let you know that I appreciate you and your work!

I have started to deepen my understanding of the esoteric by reading and listening to Rudolph Steiner (founder of Antroposophy). It challenges my mental capacity big time. But the reward is truly significant when you persevere. Much love from Sweden 💖

I really enjoyed this reading as it was very helpful to me. I love learning. It really doesn't matter what I am learning. I am 79 years old and one definition I claim is: " I am an information gathering machine." I have often felt guilty for not doing anything more 'productive'. I read a lot of stuff and agree with you that much on social media is shallow. I do not watch Tik Tok and the only Instagram I watch is your channel. I also do not do Facebook. I love the internet for what I can learn. Thank you for giving us some substantial content.

Oh wonderful news about the paintings. I so agree with you about the attention issue. I gasped when I saw the card with the apothecary. First I thought oh my she looks like my mother then I realised she looks like me. Why is this relevant? Well I love herbs. My mother gave me a patch in our gardern to grow herbs when I was 6. I studied for 4 years to be a naturopathic nutritionist and we did a wee bit on herbs - not enough. So I did a 6 week course with someone called Max Drake - a licensed herbalist in Bristol. I loved the course. So last February I started a course with David Crow an amazing herbalist from the USA . It is based upon ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine when my background is English folk. We also have some South American shamanistic teaching. I felt I had been catapulted into another universe. Two nights 2 hours each evening a test every month and SO much to learn. I thought I knew stuff and I knew NOTHING. As a yoga teacher I have studied ayurveda - it has been the tip of the iceberg. Last week I realised we have 6 months to go. Wow this is a marathon (and I have run a marathon well 2 actually) So I feel like that woman in the picture. I am very aware that you can poison someone if you get it wrong and also that plants are sentient and want to work with humans. We learn about energy not just a ‘quick fix’. I am in awe of the skills and knowledge we are building. A few weeks ago I felt despondent - so many people were asking such great questions. Now I feel proud - one of a long line of Avalon female apothecaries. We are the predecessors of allopathic medicine. I am determined to finish the course!!

Thank you for this. I don't watch TV much now as it seems to me that a lot of programmes seem to dumb down on the information.
I read regularly as I am a bookworm. I have the radio on and sing (badly) to some of the songs. I especially like the golden hour and try to guess the year.
I do regular sudoku puzzles as I like to use what bit of brain I have left. I also do painting by numbers or crochet too if the dogs will let me.
I need to read, when I was banned from reading for more than half an hour when I was 18 due to optic neuritis. The first symptom of multiple sclerosis. Not being a to read for very long was hell.
I read both fiction and information books, I am usually reading both at the same time.
I am a boring old fart (wiil be 50 later this year) and a bit of a loner. But I love nature and watching the wildlife in my area.
    Best wishes

Couldn't agree with you more! I see it with the grandkids - my oldest daughter has made new rules regarding the online gaming and the use of phones - her kids are 12 and 8 and she wants them to know about the WORLD, not just about games and short reels! My son and younger daughter are less likely to monitor what their kids watch, but that's their deal. I try my best to model a more intellectual take on things, of course with some fun videos thrown in. When they are with me, I try to show them books and articles and ART work that I've collected - talk to them about it. Grampa shows them interesting shows on the History Channel - so we do what we can when we can. The world is ever changing and if we hope the younger generation will lean back to more intellectual activities, we have to show them how! Great short video, but boy did I miss the music! I live for the music of your UA-cam videos and I've been unable to find it anywhere else. :) Namaste'

I have to chime in here! One of the things that broke up my marriage was that my then spouse could/would not have a conversation with me. After 26 years it was worse than pulling teeth trying to get him to talk. Im still single because I haven't found anyone who can carry an intelligent conversation. I adore lectures, documentaries, etc. I do catch myself watching the short clips and not finishing more than 2 chapters and have to remind myself to build neurons.

I'm always so grateful for your input on stuff like this! Years ago, I read something about the harm in the two minute two second commercials on mainstream t.v., especially for children. For a young brain to process at those speeds was way to fast, and contributed heavily to ADD and ADHD - it makes total sense. It has only continued to get faster, and it seems nearly every child has easy access to social media. Again, thanks for bringing awareness. Keep up your amazing work, and tell Metatron I say hi! Love Ya'll.

Thank you Amanda. You have literally just voiced all that I am thinking today, and have thought for many years. My thoughts today having been stimulated by watching "Marriage". I began on Sunday like yourself and realized very quickly what they were doing. It is very like the dramas that used to be common in the 70s and 80s in the slower pace, which is so needed at this time. I have observed how children's toys have become ever more stimulating with alarm, as their little nervous systems are getting bombarded from birth. Some will cope but more and more are struggling. It is also affecting their ability to imagine and create for themselves. I do believe there is an agenda at play and it's vital to encourage quiet, down time to try and offset. Thank you for all your work. Blessings 🙏❤️🌍🌱

I agree people need to be feeding their intellect more. I'm a 1960s child and so still can use a pen, landline, read a paperback and dedicate the weekend to being tech-free. And so no social media etc. But yes, this 'intellect' feeding most definitely needs to be something taken onboard by especially the younger folk, for obvious reasons. Where Instagram is concerned: my philosophy would be: if you're limiting my message then I shall completely edit out using your platform. It really is that simple. #Blessings

also the rest that you spoke about really resonates... that about brain health. i noticed that i used to be so sharp as a kid and teenager, constantly getting compliments for being smart (i was shy and didnt talk but got good grades and when i did speak i got compliments). i could also debate well. now it seems to be a whole bunch of mush up there and its frustrated me these years to the point of crying about it a lot. but i wont get anywhere by doing that. cry and then take action... im 23 which is why it brought me lots of grief (it was due to the anxiety and panic disorder ect...) so yes thanks for this video. brain health is important

A good message. I know myself so I have avoided tiktok and social media platforms. Apart from this one! I realise the dangers and that each one of us is required to use discernment moment by moment in each choice we make. Including whether or not to choose any form of quick 'fix' whether this is related to media (in all its forms) food or communication. The Dharma is valuable to assist in showing us the way through all of the rubbish out there.
