- At this year's Cannes Yachting Festival, Motor Boat & Yachting editor Hugo Andreae took the chance to look inside the Rand Escape 30, which is the Danish yard's largest electric boat to date.

Legend is Hugo's black nail came when he boarded a Princess yacht and it went crazy with the stern drives on full power and he thrust he hand down to protect a Benetti 140' from being damaged and his thumb took the damage. But his hand was able to protect 2 yachts, with one at full speed.

A nice tour, thank you Hugo, but I don't really "get" this boat at all. It looks like they found a hull abandoned in 'Nam, slapped some cushions on it and called it done. It's pleasant enough as a Mediterranean superyacht tender, but there's plenty of boats that can do that job. The electric element is interesting, but I'm not convinced it will work for anything more than short hops - I'm not your standard electric power denier! However, a boat has significant power draw, WAY more than a car would, and I struggle to get 1kW off the dock without popping marina breakers. Imagine charging that HUGE battery at that rate, you'd need a week, and only get 40 miles on it!
You’d probably need to charge it at one of the new fast charging stations springing up around the Med and now the UK
I love the ‘Nam reference.
I now can’t unsee it in “Tropic Thunder” or “Apocalypse Now”. Although if you tried to get into Cowes Yacht Haven on the the last Bank Holiday of the summer I can imagine the optional .50 cal mount would prove very useful…

Form definitely follows function on this boat. She's not pretty but the functionality looks good at a base of 169k EU. This would make a good yacht tender. The electric options also appear to be a great value! No stinky diesel and more range than most need. Thanks for the video review.

the more i see these boats with the option of electric the more i think its where its going.you could pretty much get to the port youre aiming for quiety and clean.short hops obviously.the quality in the cabin is lacking but its a good start.like these electric line of boats youre doing hugo.take care.;)

This video was released last year (2021) and is still searchable.
The exact same video was re-released this year (2022) with updated pricing info, but is now "UNLISTED" after garnering some quite negative comments (almost exclusively about the boat, NOT the presenter or the video itself).
What is going on, please ?
204,000€ tax included but the cabins a bit sad, with all the sun bathing space at the stern, I'd raise the cabin roof, put windows in and spruce it up

I'm sorry but i have to say it, the outside looks like a five year old designed it, it isn't so much ugly as lacking in all design flair.
Not a very well designed boat. The price makes this a non-starter.

Make a proper shower
Remember the designers are all 5’ 6” tall. That’s a pretty useless boat for a tall family!
