For me, contemporary dance is like watching and listening to someone telling a story in a foreign language. I cannot really understand what exactly the story is about but I can feel the emotions connected to it.
It is so French. It seems to combine the art of miming with the art of dance and they both tell a story and are so expressive and the artist really shows her talent!
Such a beautifully accurate way of putting it. Really has me thinking about how despite not being able to understand the string of sounds different cultures use to convey or describe an experience, there are universal physical expressions of emotions that transcend language barriers. A born and raised Ukrainian can easily recognize the contortions of grief upon the face of a Frenchman. An Ethiopian woman needs no translator to understand the elation on the face of a Norwegian woman as she welcomes her first child into the world. Nearly everyone on earth can read the anguish in the eyes of another human being who has just lost basically everything. Especially these days, it’s all too common/convenient to view the world as ‘us vs. them’ or ‘us and the *other*’, while completely overlooking the human experience that connects all of us. Wish the world took a bit more time to speak a little more ‘Human’. Imo, ‘Human’ is the only language that truly matters…
She was telling a story from the first motion. She was captivating. For me, she was telling a story about the passage of time in our lives. How it hastens past us, slows, falters, eludes us. How we want to recapture it, perhaps. The thing is, she made me think. I do want to know.
I had just replied to another commenter who compared this piece to listening to a story told in another language; the details aren’t clearly understood, but the emotion comes through perfectly well. Perhaps my favorite part of art (all art forms, really) is the conversation and discussion of perspective it stirs up. The other comment made perfect sense to me. Yours also makes perfect sense to me. It’s endlessly fascinating to me to hear what thoughts, emotions, and perspectives come up for different people when we consume a singular piece of art. Art is designed to make people feel things. The discussion of art essentially creates a huge buffet of emotional responses that we can all sample from. The artist connects to the audience to convey a story, and then the audience connects with each other to discuss how they perceived the story. How freaking cool is that??
The fluidity and connectivity of her movement is just gorgeous. Everything is precisely as it should be... I'd be jealous if I didn't know about the hard work and long hours that are necessary to produce a piece like this. At this level, talent isn't just given; it's EARNED.
wow.... My breath caught in my throat. Many full body chills flushed over me throughout. It wasn't until the end that I realized that silent tears were streaming down my face. wow....
So beautifully expressive and captivating! It’s wonderful to see a classically trained dance perform a contemporary piece like this one. The moves are fluid and controlled🌹Gave me chills! Brava!
Ausdruckstanz pur.
This made me so emotional and I don't fully know why...it was just so beautiful :) It reminded me of Maddie Ziegler in the Chandelier video, only matured and refined.
It's lovely and it would be nice to have something other than piano music for once. Don't get me wrong, amongst my favourite music are the works of Bach for keyboard and Mozart's Piano concertos - it's just a but unimaginative.

Here's the same dancer competing in a more traditional "language". She is very talented! ua-cam.com/video/t4YkMRC13u4/v-deo.html
For some reason I think it’s about Time and a glass of water.
Idk I’m just guessing.

I thought about the world. Multiple times she attempted to "capture" a ball or a globe.
Such a beautifully accurate way of putting it.

You are really intelligent. That was an incredible interpretation. I'm not good at that, so I appreciate your ability to do so!
The flow was just incredible. Each movement led to the next like there was no where else to go. That dance had to evolve exactly like it did.
I wish i could know what it feels like to dance like that. I wish i could BE in that dance. Exquisite.

She is living it ! Just wonderful.
wow....
My breath caught in my throat. Many full body chills flushed over me throughout. It wasn't until the end that I realized that silent tears were streaming down my face.
wow....
This performance has left me speechless. The young lady is a great artist!
So beautifully expressive and captivating! It’s wonderful to see a classically trained dance perform a contemporary piece like this one. The moves are fluid and controlled🌹Gave me chills! Brava!
That took my breath away. Was truly magical.

stunning performance - her hard work really pays off, she is incredible.
I hope she is happy
She is like a leaf, twirling around in the wind. 😍
That’s a beautiful analogy. Very well observed and you couldn't say it more amendable.
She sure knows how to fill the stage with her presence. I felt like I was watching a lot of different people dance,
Love her corporal expression.

Terrific, loved her. Utah
To be this good at her age shows she was born to do this and shows off all of her hard work through the years. Congratulations sweetie!

Prix de Lausanne....it's easy to see why. Outstanding!
It seems she had incorporated elements of mime in which her dance. Interesting.
Tres belle danseuse. Quelle fluidité .. sur une musique merveilleuse 😊
Beautiful, so fluid and expressive

Great choreography, really cleanly executed. Gorgeous, affecting!
Magnifique! De toute beauté! Câlins du Québec!🤗❣👍🙏💫
She is perfection. Such artistry supported by technical mastery. And she’s just 17!
Beautiful.
Just exceptional and so moving.

Excepcional, maravillosa!!!
Espetacular! Maravilhosa!
Not flashy. Not flamboyant. Just one graceful move after another beautifuly connected. Geoorgeous.
True beauty
Beautiful. I wish they'd add a bit of background with these pieces, it would be nice to know what inspired them 👍
It made me emotional
Incredible.
This is poetry in motion, it’s like the Sistine Chapel ceiling rotating.
Mesmerising! I could not take my eyes off this young lass, and I don't like contemporary dance usually.
Now that’s dance!
Time passing…. But let us not limit what is poetic with words… ❤️
Me encanto ❤🥰🥹
Jednostavno prelijepo 💎🔝
fantastico!!!😍
Toll, toll, Toll ... eine wunderschöne Darbietung !!
Just perfect!
Love it ❤
If ballet and miming had a beautiful artistic dance baby, it would be contemporary.
Bravíssima !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wonderfull!
I’m not into this dancing but this beautiful young girl has absolutely nailed it ❤
Excellent body control, great fluidity in the motions. Bravo!

❤ so beautiful
Perfect!!!
Bravo!
Moving 🖤
Exquisite.
WONDERFUL!!! 😍 as a former modern dancer, I felt every move. Well done Kim!!
This interpretive dance was anchored - meaning that I (as one not educated in this art) could get its sense
Contemporary dancers are some of the most insanely athletic people in terms of their body control
Wow, her sense of balance is exquisite. She looks like she's made of rubber one second, and steel the next. Just amazing.
This is how one writes poetry with movement.
This made me so emotional and I don't fully know why...it was just so beautiful :) It reminded me of Maddie Ziegler in the Chandelier video, only matured and refined.

wow
Wish there was some context to this beautiful dance, to help us viewers understand what the dancers wants to convey. Nevertheless, it was beautiful.
Her lines were beautiful
17!!!
It's like figure skating but without skates.
