I met John Fisher at the Michigan wrestling camp in the summer of 1988. Well "met" is probably not the best way to put it. Our floor was a bunch of wild 15 and 16 year old kids at camp. John Fisher was one of the wrestlers helping with the summer camp. he found out that we were playing with the fire extinguisher... He ended up chasing all of us down the hallway until he caught us. He was cool about it once she caught us but it was pretty scary.
How about you show when Fisher beat Smith in Olympic trials , plus show all the matches and let the wrestling community decide who won. Wonder why Bobby Douglas walked away. Hmmm
I don't think they were making a statement by uploading this match- just showing them one by one. I'm sure the matches you mentioned are out there and will be eventually played. Smith soundly beat Fisher, no shenanigans by ref or judges. If Fisher got the best of Smith on another day, good for him.
While Fisher was a good match up for Smith in general, Smith had been battling a staph infection going into those Olympic trials. He was lucky not to be in the hospital (or even dead) and still managed to make the team over a very tough John Fisher.
This is actually pretty good quality considering the time period
Fisher is a hell of a wrestler too. But John Smith is the best American wrestler of his era.
