- Do you ever see your dog chasing their tail? It can be a humorous sight to behold, but
sometimes it can look problematic. This is especially so if they start to bite their tail when
they catch it. If you see a dog chasing and biting their tail, it is likely a sign of an
imbalance, whether due to physical or mental health. In this AnimalWised video we hope
to shed some light on this behavior. We'll explain the reasons why a dog may chase and
bite their tail and help you to know what to do about it.

Our teenage dog only chases or bites her tail when she’s super playful. Sometimes outside when she gets zoomies, or indoors while she’s belly up and playing tug of war.
Im just wondering, do they have control of it? Cuz tails express how theyre feeling and i wouldnt do that if i had control over my tail, and i would also pretty much try catching something that i have no control over and annoys at times
One of my cats often does. What does it mean when they do it?
My dog is currently doing this. :( he's been checked by vets and came out he is healthy. I am suspecting that it is due to behavioral/mental problem.
My dog's tail constantly chases my dog. Is this normal? 😂
MusiCanines - The Musical Dogs Your dog's tail must have comes off and decided to chases your dog back 😂😂😂
No
They have no clue its attached to them.
My dog does that to amuse me, when she chases her tiele I laugh she does it more do I need to worry about ?
I think my dog usually chases her tale when the hair on her tail are long and need to be cut. Maybe she find it annoying
My dog tends to do it if she gets excited then I either don't give attention or just suddenly stop giving her attention although I think it's because she knows I'll pet her if she does it
Funny note, my cats used to bite her tail because I used it to play with it, so she would "attack" it as her enemy... She grew up and found out the Truth, so she stopped doing it.

My 11 mth dog, chases his tail all the time, he gets aggressive at it. Vet said he's healthy don't worry..unsure about that
My dog penny is about 4 years old. She has been chasing her tail every single day since we rescued her. Yesterday she was getting very aggressive with it and when I stopped her I touched her tail and it was covered in blood. I’m nervous and don’t know what is wrong with my girl and don’t want to leave her alone
Same 😔
Aww 😔
I have a 1 month old indian pariah puppy who is biting his own tail and do have a wound on his tail by biting
Omg please take him to the vet ASAP before it becomes a habit and ocd like my dog!!
You have to understand that dogs do not really understand the parts if their body.

My Aussie Doodle actually SUCKS on the end of his tail, becoming a saliva soaked tail!! no damage. LEAVE it does NOT work as nothing I do stops his persistence !!!!!!!!!!! I tried Cayenne pepper..but Black pepper seemed to help more. Not a constant issue..just spells of OCD!!!!!!! HELP (btw..I washed his tail with DAWN incase there was "critters'" but seems to be behavior.he would look at me then grab his tail!!!!!!! I say SIT. He sits..I give a treat. SoooooooNOW he thinks that when he grabs his tail...He THEN gets a treat!!!!!!!! H E L P !!!!
