LOVE getting to watch her negotiate all those tricky vocals! What a great example of healthy singing. Even through the acting, even when it's hard, she stayed calm, she stayed WITH it, and it was marvelous!

@@nicholetoops5208lol why would I lie. She grew up south suburbs of Chicago. Literally won state for theater with her in 2018. And we were in choir and ensembles together in middle school.
Yessss Joy Woods OMG, I have been waiting for her to show the whole world how insane how voice and acting is! She is such a great storyteller and even better vocalist! I’m obsessed with her voice!! I had chills the entire time. Those iced belted notes were literally insane, just flawless!

Those high notes are just literally screaming. Young generation needs to learn what is good taste in music and singing.
Unpopular opinion I don’t like her voice. Sounds too Disney like she’s putting it on and could definitely sing in a different key / tone. I would be disappointed if they picked her as live action Tiana…

I'm sorry if they wanted alley black they should have made her black in the movie they ruined a GREAT MOVIE if your going make a musical out of the movie make sure to keep the main character the right skin color you should have had a white Allie the black girl does not belong as the roll of the main character I know for a fact Nicholas sparks is disappointed I know this because I'm his niece
girl- if your preoccupied with a character’s skin color, then you’re not really paying attention to actually anything important about the character nor the story. If you were actually his niece, I would feel bad for him because you’re an attention seeker (and liar).
First, you're not sorry at all, so don't use that turn of phrase to disguise the ugliness of racism.
Second, you clearly have no understanding of Theatre or Broadway. Race isn't important, it is about the voice and who is talented enough to sing in EIGHT shows a week. Joy Woods is a PHENOMENAL talent! She auditioned and earned her role based off of CLEAR talent. If you can't hear that because you're too blinded by your racist views, then that's on you.
Lastly, the movie and play are mere adaptations of a story, not real life. If you want to live in an archaic mindset and be triggered by race, that's on you, but keep that to yourself, and maybe go outside and touch some grass. Life is too short to live in hate over love.
In what way does it change the character of Allie if she is played by a black woman? Joy Woods sings the score beautifully, portrays the character with truth and care and seems like a kind, humble woman, meaning there is no issue and she is correctly serving the source material. To say otherwise solely because she is a black woman is simply racist.
