This is a nice unit. Relays and VCA are the way to go for monitor control. I have a StudioComm 58 with the desk remote and it's absolutely unbreakable. Nice job!

As always, cool video; but I was wondering about these dismanteling equipment, shouldn't u use some sort of anti-static wrist wrap or something?

Yes usually I wear gloves, I didn't think I'd actually went that far to put my hands in it

Great video, Dave! We also have the Drawmer MC3.1 Monitor Controller and it's been a game-changer at our studio. It really is a very nice piece of equipment. Did you happen to notice which digital-to-analog chip is used on their digital input card? Thanks as always for the amazing content! Hope you're safe and well! - chaz

Always nice to have spare parts even if you don't need it atm :) Do you connect the dangerous converter to the controller only for clocking? My knowledge of how to connect analog gear is still lacking big time hahaha!

Be careful, bare hands can easily burn ICs via static charge! You need to earth yourself when doing stuff like this.

You own it right? Up to you then. Manufacturer support be damned XD. Not securing that little board with a fastener or at least some silastic is a tad disappointing on Drawmers part. Yes, it's easy to plug in when assembling. Hot glue could work to prevent this though.

This is so satisfying to fix things by ourselves that does not work anymore, even just as simple like this !
Had a fire in my building someday, and all my appartment were filled with dust and those burning crap. Like everything was dark, even my studio set up. Have an Arturia Minibrute that did not worked after, bunch of dust and dirt were inside and covered the motherboard, just opened it, cleaned it and it worked. Was feeling so satisfied ! So, props to you for sharing all those little thing, that can help lot of people out there !
btw, discovered your channel few days ago and must admit I come here pretty often now for all the gears reviews and explanations you have. Easy, very understandable. Keep it up !
    Greetings from France.

Glad to hear! I've had that happen to my studio computer before! I only had 1 studio computer at the time, and it's a massive XTRA LARGE 35lb beast of a machine that I had to move from the studio, to my house(to do editing and setup for the session the next week). My house computer that I normally did setup and editing on took a dump so I only had my studio computer to work with, and that had to be transported to and from recording sessions every, single session! As I had NO computer at home at all!!! So could do no work, internet, or anything at home! So while transporting to the session it fell as I was getting it out of the truck! And I broke my Ilock as well and didn't have a backup at the time, and this was before you could do Online Ilock, and I was using ProTools so no Ilock....NO Editing, mixing, recording....NO PROTOOLS! Anyway, my video card came out of the slot and I didn't know it! Went through all this trouble and money to fix it, and it just fell out of the slot! Was such a stupid rookie mistake! Point being, check your shit to make sure it's all plugged in correctly before doing anything! You'd be very surprised what happens when you move shit! I've also got a Drawmer MC2.1 and it's great! For the price it's really hard to beat, not sure about the Audient one, as I haven't heard it or used it, but still Drawmer has great shit so that's what I'd go for! However Heritage audio's Ram system is good! So that's a bit more expensive, but worth it IMO, if it fit's your workflow more! If not Drawmer!
