    Very good points Mr Kirk.
Solar panels in the Minnesota winter are encrusted in snow much of the time.

Okay I might be a little biased cuz I'm from Texas seeing the oil derricks off the side of the road and there's grazing cattle all around them. Along with birds rabbits depending on the time of the day deer . Things growing in living there with the oil derricks pumping away. Solar panel farms you really don't see anything no birds no grazing dear no rabbits they take up a lot of land destroy the habitat and don't produce in my opinion enough electricity for the amount of space destruction to the habitat I live in Florida I don't like the idea of them taking good cattle grazing or whatever kind of grazing animal you want to put on it ,land or farming land, or natural areas. If there were homes near this solar panel farm and there was a bad tornado those panels and their the framework have now just become projectiles at speeds possibly up to 185 mi an hour. Same thing with wind turbines anywhere that a hurricane could hit. Nothing is perfect there are drawbacks to everything. My husband worked at two different trash burning power plants. Ash that results from it is clean there's no nasty black smoke coming from the stacks they're well filtered and monitored yes they do produce CO2, the trees and vegetation surrounding it were beautiful and healthy. They weren't covered in Ash. Lots of wildlife and birds in the surrounding area.

Blows my mind nobody is talking about disposal of these batteries and the manufacturing of them .
I am sure they have a plan but I guarantee you we will pay for it in taxes and fines that will be sure to come at some point . Environmental fees to dispose of them .
This must be part of the discussion before we go any further .

      Source?
sludge and other waste products from lithium production are significant environmental concerns. The extraction process, especially from brine in regions like South America’s “Lithium Triangle,” consumes vast amounts of water and can lead to soil and water contamination. In some cases, chemicals used during the extraction process, such as hydrochloric acid, can leak, harming local ecosystems. Additionally, large-scale lithium mining has been linked to air pollution and depletion of local water resources, especially in dry regions
4 sources: in addition one of them is lithiumharvest. If you search “lithiumhavest bias” you find multiple articles from all over the world supporting above statement.
Most of lithium harvest (99%) is done outside of US. So, it is on other countries to work on making the lithium mining process better for the environment. Do they care? That is the question - especially since over 50% comes from S America and Africa.

While there are no “solutions”, just “trade-offs”, nuclear energy has been used in Canada and many other places around the world safely for over 65 years. A very few accidents have resulted in less than 50 fatalities and the processes of dealing with nuclear waste is improving dramatically.

When talking about natural gas, is not easy to transport. You first must have a special unit to liquefy the gas, transport it, and have a special unit to convert it back to gas. Great source of energy, clean, USA is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas, but transporting by truck or ship takes a special process for preparation.

Solar panels and machinery to operate sun sensor to following the sun movement required lubricant and oil maintenance 6 months or more. Wind mills generator required blades being changed because of wind damage and dust and weather and generator motor requires motor lubricant so why bother having solar power and wind mills power if having to change oils and motors at a Wind Mill generator farm land and solar power farms of over 70 acres of the flattest cutting up barest no plants and no animals allowed on land and no trees and no hills to blocking solar power panels and wind mills.
Having gas stations require less space land and gas tanks are portable and some are stationary and gas stations are weather proof and rechargeable batteries charging stations are not weather proof to charging unreliable unrealistic rechargeable batteries cars and trucks that require 4 to 12 hours to finish recharging cars and trucks many rechargeable batteries in only one car and one truck at a time.

When there is no alternative, solar is great, and becoming more affordable. As for clean up, we need to think about that way before we create anything that will later haunt us. It seems that many of the things we create later gives us grief. 😮 We need to be more thoughtful about our choices so as not to destroy Gods great creation. Money is important, but should always be put last and the welfare of the land and people first.

I am amused because I live off grid solar. I love the independence. I know exactly how it works because when there is a problem, i fix it. In colorado, I drive by a "solar" neighborhood where they are on the grid. Their panels off set their energy cost. Good for them. However, there was no consideration in the design of this neighborhood in both street layout and roof design. I kid you not, there are solar panels facing due north due to roof design. Those folks get no gain what so ever. I wonder if they compare energy bills?

Charlie missed the most important downside of green energy, they are passive forms of energy. Wind turbines only produce when the wind is blowing and solar panels only produce when the sun is shining. You can have all this passive energy but you still need to have enough capacity in real generated power to handle whatever the possible peak load would be for an area.

@@alexanderwhite298 Good luck getting either type of production permitted. Environmentalists don't like damming rivers and besides the fear factor associated with nuclear they seem to always take 12 years to build and come in at over double their estimated construction cost.

@@ghostofmanitou6864 there is also geo thermal and is the most green just not used in the US. Also the US has probably the best place for geothermal because one of the Yellowstone national Park is technically an active volcano. The reason why nuclear takes so long to build is because there are not enough experts in the field to build them quickly. And the cost of making a nuclear power plant is usually double or triple because of time. All this is nothing compared to how much the owner gets when the power plant comes online. A nuclear power plant is probably the best cost to profit power plants on can buy.

Maintenance of solar panels and wind mills costs more annually than what these two products can produce. I was given that information by a reputable source. Who actually is a contractor in the maintenance industry for these products.

How much pollution is created by the use of the production of green energy? ie" strip mines byproduct, old wornout batteries, land cleared to install more power lines, etc.

Natural gas can be produced by animal waste or rotting vegetation . Vegetation produces it quicker and for a longer period in greater quantities . Every farm can power their own farms and reduce the carbon footprint jjt by doing that . Think what a change that would make in china

I'm sure glad we haven't polluted our water and air. It's really funny how computer have been around less time then vehicles and I now can hold one in my hand but I can't get at least 50 miles to the gallon. Why hasn't our technology advanced in thst field? Could it be that the oil companies don't want that? Make more record profit years why don't you . Face it the oil companies don't want any other type of energy so they can keep lining their pockets. Sad they only care about profits not people.

Alternative energy is fine. The thing is that it should not be subsided by taxpayers. If it is so great, it needs to compete on a level field with other energy sources. The best will prevail on its own without stealing money from taxpayers.
