I braid... this came out so nice. I charge $600 for this style with human hair and $400 with synthetic hair. It takes me 7 hours with the extended length included and I usually do that as I'm braiding not after I've installed each braid. The beauty of being an artisan is making your own prices based on how you perceive your worth. You did a really great job

Honestly for that length and size of those braids your rate is acceptable, if you can’t afford something leave it out do not ask a person to lower the rate because, same people would buy designer and give money to the super wealthy and not think twice about paying $1000 for a shirt that did not take 9 hours to make

The smaller and the longer they are means more time and labor for the stylist soooo that’s a fair price.

I understood every word she said! As hairstylists people are always gonna be like “she charge too much” and I not gonna lie just starting up my business I was “the cheap hair dresser” because I was afraid that people would criticize my work and they wouldn’t book because they didn’t agree with my price..but as time passed I saw value in my work and how hard I was working and putting every effort into giving every one of my client a 10/10 and their money’s worth.. then I told myself you know what? IF I DONT SEE VALUE IN MY OWN WORK THEN NOBODY ELSE WILL! and that’s facts on facts because even though I raised my prices I still got clients..clients that was willing to pay and get exactly what they wanted! We hairdressers are always gonna be put down for our prices but aside from the few people that try to lower them there are clients that see value in our work. Standing up for 8 to 9 hours in not easy and it’s definitely not cheap!

Also there are people out here charging this price and more for braids but you have to come with the hair and your head halfway done (wash, blow dried, greased, straighten?!) $700 nah.....I wish I can show my braids that are over my behind n I stand at 5'8" n pay $300 including the hair. Those braids are great quality but not like the quality I get done to mine. Tbh hair stylist I know will tell you to never keep braids n for over 1 month n maximum is at 1 n 1/2 months. Idk I guess it depends where your from...I'm from New York!

That is why I stopped braiding hair because I got discourage. People was complaining that me charging 180 was to much so I gave up on braiding hair. Now I’m looking to get back into braiding hair since I moved to Texas.

These braids would have lasted me a year with proper maintenance. What people (some) don't understand is that your fingers hurt, your feet get swollen, your lower back hurt and you get tired while braiding for such long hours. I'm all for it! Great job.

GREAT WORK. Usually regular Knotless braids are between $250-$380 & That’s REGULAR. This is extended. That means extra time which BOTH parties know about. I couldn’t pay $700 BUT I don’t think it’s too much for what she wanted.🤷🏽♀️ CHARGE YOUR WORTH SIS.❤

Agree, it could also limit clientele depending on where you are located and the status of the economy. It's like Michael Jordan selling his shoes at outrageous prices without consideration that most people aren't financially stable nor responsible but will desperately want them. Plenty of people work jobs where they stand for nine hours and aren't paid $60+ an hour.

I am a retired braider and I am so happy for you!! I'm glad that you're charging what you NEED to charge. I am so proud that you know your worth. As an old school braider, I can honestly say that I didn't know my worth back then. I mean, don't get me wrong, I made money but I could have made more. People don't understand what braiders go through. I remembered, as I got older, braiding hair became brutal on my body. My back would hurt, my feet would hurt, my fingers and my hips. I remembered, sometimes it would take my body 2 to 3 days to recoup. I was only able to do like 1 head a week and that's when I knew that it was time to hang it up!! But I still have a lot of knowledge. Oh and by the way Pana, those are not small braids, they're way too big to even be considered medium in our day. But it's a new dawn, it's a new day and i'm feeling good. Thank you for allowing me to be honest.

I learned how to do knotless braids earlier this year just because of your videos. A lot of people have asked me to do their hair since then and I gotta say for the amount of work it takes!!!....... you do you girl.
In Harlem NewYork there's an array of competitive african hair braiding shops. Harlem have so much competition among the braiders they ask the customer how much they wanna pay. In Harlem customers would pay $350 to $400 for those exact braids.

Absolutely you are worth $700 for 9 hrs of your time....this style isn’t for everyone, certain hair textures won’t hold braids knotless or box for months n months, i struggle keeping mine in 1 full month, also that length isn’t that common, i rarely see them that long.....it does look very very nice you should be proud and stand on that shit 🤞🏽👌🏽💪🏽

@@0024811 If you don't already do this, supplement with vitamins. Being anemic breaks down more than Iron and can be detrimental to your skin, hair and nails. Try taking prenatal vitamins because they're high in vitamins. It won't make anything perfect but you'll see improvement.

True! You can take off and put on wigs too. Once you take braids out they’re out. If I really wanted braids for that price though I would definitely look into the braided wigs. The one’s done right actually look just as good as the real thing too.

I agree. I don't spend that much on my hair anyways but I'd rather get a wig. And then the time it will take me to take them out?? Not worth it at all to me. The style better last at least 4 months...but I take mine out after 2 or 3 months so even though for her she might think it is a good price because she is standing there to braid hair, for me, I still have to deal with taking them out and the fact that it is a one and done style. But I guess I don't have to do my hair for a couple of months. 🤷🏾♀️

I’m so confused! This is the price that she charges for HER time, energy, space, and talent. Also, I have yet to hear her say that $700 is what she charges for every hairstyle that she does. If you can’t afford a $700 hairstyle, then don’t get a $700 hairstyle. Also, there’s nothing wrong with you not wanting to spend your money on a hairstyle! It’s your money, do with it as you will! Pana, I 1000% support your pricing and would absolutely pay $700 for your braids. As a freelance braider that has finally begun to raise my prices, I kept them low for a long time out of fear of losing clients. However, what I was amazed to learn was that it was not just my work that kept my clients loyal to me and my brand. It was ME. The experience I gave them, paired with the quality they received. The growing stylist/client relationship. All of it. They are not just paying me for their service, they are paying for an experience. I began to value myself more because of that. As well as the fact that I work harder on my clients than I ever did on my normal 9-5s. At the end of the day, I am so glad that you have clients that see your worth, value PANA, and are WILLING to invest in your abilities. You deserve a return on investing in yourself (cosmetology school, products, late nights and long hours, bone and joint health for your hands, etc). You deserve every penny that you increase and thensome. And when YOU believe that, so will the right people. Period. There's a client for everyone. Thank you for being an inspiration! 💕

as a customer i think people see it as the quality of the service, but putting it into the perspective of the hairstylist, not only are you taking into account the hair, the style, etc. but she spent hours on hours perfecting the hair so tbh the price isn’t too bad. charge for your time as well

You are very skilled. Charging $700 is a great deal because this is a lot of work. I can't wear my hair this long because I'm old and my neck isn't as strong as it used to be. I imagine that this style is heavy.
Definitely worth it. I am not a braider but I learn watching UA-cam so I can braid my daughters hair. She only wants knotless which takes a lot of time. You have to value your work and know what your services are worth. We as a people need to stop tearing others down when we don’t agree on something. If they cannot afford or don’t want to pay what someone is charging then that stylist is not for you. Great job. Keep it going ❤️

I'm an upcoming braider and people here in Botswana will expect you to do knotless braids for P150... Which is selfish because they don't want to understand that there is a lot of effort and energy that goes into braiding hair...

I did some braids like this but I charged 400 because I didn’t supply the hair either. Girl yessssss we are underrated.

@@marshmallow3913 for you maybe for me no (to each is own). I braid like a beast and I know my work and quality plus I’m licensed. Not to mention she even tipped me an extra 100 because she lovedddd her hair ☺️ with her getting her own hair she paid 450 altogether but with the tip she included 550.

I’ll never forget doing hair 2015 - 2017 as a side hustle. I’d do my own hair, and I worked in the mall. Co workers and even ppl who stayed in my apartment complex, wanted me to do they hair or makeup. No liscence, but I took my time, was professional, had everything ready when they arrived, and would wash, deep condition, clip ends, etc bc I truly cared about the hair. Where I was, I never had complaints about my prices in Charlotte. And once you have loyal clients, they send in more. I was super slow though and when I had my second child, I stopped altogether.
Moved back to the M, and only did my sis, niece, and stepdaughters hair a few times. Never got anyone, bc the time I took or what I charged. But to focus and create perfection, it’s worth it. If I got it, hell yeah I’d pay 700. 9 hours, for what it would take me 3 days to do myself, is a no brainer ❤

Have a question do knotless braids cause the white knot (from build up product such as jam at the root) never had knotless braids but when I use to get box braids and wear them for only 3 weeks the white knot would be at my root and make my hair fall out..
I charge 200 for small Knotless but for knee length I would probably add an additional 200 for a total of $400 for the service. Braiders are definitely underrated and like you said everyone is jot your client so you have to roll with the punches!!! Excellent work ❤️ them!!
I started braiding my own hair and my friends wanted me to do there hair and started paying me and I felt good about that. I start watching you and I’m getting better but on my own head I think I’m trashed but people tell me if you can do your own then you good and I started believing it

I LOOOOVEEE IT VERY BLESSED HANDS!!!!! As a Licensed Cosmetology I charge $580 hair not Included. I charge what I would pay for the quality. SAME ENERGY. Thank you so much for this video we are not charging our worth. I have so may clients that brings cheap hair for Sewins etc. I inform them on the different quality companies to fit their budget and prep for their next appointment but some dont listen and expect you to give them a champagne style with water budgets. But at the same time I know everyone cant afford it so I give them multiple options that's in their range. It's hard to stand/sit and not get what your worth because "someone else " charges less a few years ago I realized they dont go to LV, Gucci etc, and tell them to lower their price they just buy it. So that's the same Energy I keep. Stay Blessed.
