Ahh yes, the memorable air battle between Spitfires and Helldivers in the battle of midway between Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima. It's all coming back to me now. ;-)
which movie was the scene with the Spitfires and Helldivers? :o
The Yamato was never at Midway. The Yamato was a part of a force that trailed 600 miles behind the carrier force that fought at Midway, but the ship was pulled even farther away from the force on June 5th, 1942 along with the rest of the main battleship force under Admiral Yamamoto's orders, so the ship wouldn't sustain damage. Instead of engaging, the ship only observed the battle from afar. If the Yamato was sunk there, Admiral Yamamoto would probably have perished, and the Pacific Theatre would have lasted much shorter than it did.
For me are two greatest ships.... Enterprise and Bismarck :)
@Prussian empire Enterprise. the most experienced and most decorated ship in the history of the united states, with a total of 9 ships falling under the name 3 of which share the same metal. and Bismarck a german monster who only fell under the circumstances of the entire Royal Navy hunting her down taking hits from 16 15 14 8 6 and 5-inch guns for over 24 hours and still required internal scuttling to sink her. yeah no, i think his opinion if fair.
@@brandondaway1 i am actually so proud to know how many times was bismarck hit and still floating. just one torpedo from ww1 plane was enough to make the ship be "useless" and only i think 10 hours away from france... poor ship. the fear that british admirals had from her that they sent wast majority of british navy to hunt bismarck... just damm
may i also suggest the hms warspite, which hit a target from REALLY far away
Yamato! Respect from Poland
Sink after 42 torpedoes and 28 bombs of 500 kg
This song is underrated. One of the best Sabaton song for sure.
...Not Midway... Pearl Harbor, a scene from Iwo Jima, and the Yamato the most glorious piece of useless per ton piece of equipment to be sunk in the Pacific...
Just like the Bismarck. Such a waste of Fine German steel
Yeah, and Helldivers and Hellcats, nothing fits in this video.
The Yamato's sister ship, Musashi, was much more impressive. It went down, but its last stand was glorious.
My only problem with sinking ships is that it's bad for the ocean
@@darthkittyoustheunwise7581 well it atleast fought a last stand , Yamato was useless
these movies are about my last battle.
not midway.
Pearl Harbor
Death of the Yamato witch wasn’t at midway
@@BlueWolf-zm3rg Yamato was part of the second squadron behind the carrier force. after suffering losses to every carrier, she turned away. this would mark a sad trend in her career where she would turn and run when she had the advantage and could have made somewhat of a difference. what would the war have been like if the japanese fleet pushed the depleted american carriers at midway or Yamato had stuck around to sink Taffy 3? i do not know, but it likely would have forced the american fleets to focus on hunting her as a threat rather than being able to mostly operate without fear of her or her sisters guns.
who needs history class when i can listen to sabaton?
well there is no midway battle in this video
dafq you talking about? Its the attack on Pearl Harbor
DrumsandOther the battle of midway isn’t the same thing as the attack on Pearl Harbor.
@@teogonzalez7957 two different battles
There are fucking WWII. videos to a Sabaton songs which are about absolutely different time period and you complain this video is only about naval warfare in Pacific and not exactly Battle of Midway..... -_-
@@kokunoskos6836 Not only not exactly the Battle of Midway, this has nothing to do with it!
In Midway there were no battleships involved, the US had neither Helldivers nor Hellcats at that time, instead Dauntless`and Wildcats! A lot of the video is about Pearl Harbour, while no ships in any port were part of Midway....the list goes on!
It´s like calling a Video Verdun and then showing footage of Gallipoli.
Today's is the 72nd anniversary of the battle of Midway. Hail to all the soldiers who fought for their country!
super video und coole musik sobald man das schaut hat man direkt lust das online spiel world of warships zu spielen einfach geil
Quite possibly the best Sabaton music video there is.
This video is the perfect blend of air and sea action. Love it!
Sehr beeindruckend. ;-)
A very *HONOURABLE* video
Ich komme aus Deutschland und ich muss sagen, dass die Matrosen und Soldaten die auf der Yamato sowie auf der Bismarck gedient haben meinen größten Respekt haben!
The Japanese were excellent at combat, but their belief in their godly emporer, along with the fact that they didn't have near as much industrial capability as the US, all led to their defeat. I don't know what to think, but quite a lot of history experts state that, Japan had already lost the war against the US the moment they attacked Pearl Habor.
+bluedimonddust They had lost even before that. They'd known all along that they couldn't beat the U.S. and yet pride dictated that they attack rather than withdraw from China to end the oil embargo. In 1943 alone, the US put more warships into the water than Japan did in the entire war. Even their masterstroke, Pearl Harbor, was a blunder even in the tactical sense. No carriers destroyed. All but 1 of the combat ready battleships were repaired and upgraded within 6 months (USS Utah had been decommissioned years prior), along with most of the other warships in the harbor. The fuel depot hadn't even been touched, nor had the submarine pen. At least one historian has argued that the submarine pen was all that was needed to strangle Japan into defeat, given the shear incompetence they showed in protecting their convoys.
+Beowulf DW Also, something that people tend to forget, is that the japanese had no possibility of directly attack continental US soil. This means that they had no opportunity to damage their industry, whereas the us could more easily damage japanese industry since it was extremly dépendent on Japan imports.
+Beowulf DW There's two other reasons why Pearl Harbor was a blunder. Japan had planned to send their ambassador to inform the US government that all peace negotiations were terminated and war was declared. The Idea was that Admiral Yamamoto was to have this message delivered then attack Pearl Harbor after 30 minutes of this happening. The problem here is that Tokyo transmitted the 5000 word notification in two transmission blocks (or however it went in 1941), and that it took the embassy staff too long to transcribe it (during this time, US code breakers were intercepting and translating most of the declaration the whole time). In fact, they weren't able to deliver the message until a day later.
Also, they had also planned to launch a third wave against Pearl Harbor, with many Captains and Commanders willing to do this. The targets were the torpedo and fuel storage, dry-docks, and maintenance facilities there, however Admiral Nagumo (commander-in-chief of the First Air Fleet that struck at Pearl) instead decided to withdraw due to US AA gunners were now on high alert, the losses from the second wave as well as the number of damaged aircraft from said AA gunners, weather conditions had deteriorated and also they were at the extreme limit of their logistical capabilities (had he stayed for this, he would have been forced to abandon a number of destroyers to save what fuel was left in the support tankers for his carriers). Yamamoto initially agreed to the idea to withdraw, but he would later say he regretted the choice. Had the third strike been launched, they might have found the USS Enterprise as she was returning to Pearl Harbor on the day of the attack.
+Bluedimonddust they lost cuz the states drop 2 nuclear fucking bombs on their cities, if not for that, the states would have lost so much more
Oscar Esquivel
Wrong. The atomic bombs were the exclamation point on a long statement that the Navy wrote across the Pacific. An island nation cannot fight without a navy. The war was lost at Midway, Guadalcanal, and the Philippine Sea, not at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Without attaining sea and air supremacy, and without denying the Japanese their island bases, our bombers could never have gotten close to the main islands. You make the same mistake that the Air Force made in the '50s. Bombing people doesn't force them to surrender on its own. Berlin was bombed to hell, but the Germans only surrendered when Allied tanks started rolling up their streets.
wow... that was truly fantastic! I have watched the movie with indescribable pleasure:) I think, that this is the best movie of "Midway" I've ever seen:) Thx, and greetings for all fans of Sabaton:)
i hope he realizes like half of the video is from the movie "pearl harbor"
Wiel danke sweden freunde supr video midvei ✋✌💥👍🎶🎤🎵🎧🎸
I'm from germany and I can't really say how much respect i feel for the soldiers on the yamato!
The Yamato was hardly even at the Battle of Midway, I don't know why you even made a mention about it. If you wanted to talk about Midway, you should have posted something about the Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu, or Soryu, the FOUR Japanese carriers sunk by an American Naval force that was outnumbered two to one. The USS Yorktown was sunk on June 7th, being the only major loss in the engagement. It was a total US victory. Japan never recovered from Midway.
Even moreso, the Yamato never really did anything at all for fear of her being sunk. The Yamato and Musashi were glorified troop carriers.
Well when it was sunk it was used as a kamikaze not as a battleship
The armor was strong enough to withstand the standard us shells so it may have been able to sink a few ships if it had the ammo and fuel to do so
@@dmyt58 not using yamato and musashi was big mistake by Japan. Those ships could take a lot of hits, and punch back. Their guns could have taken out US ships in 1 focused salvo, also they had greater range and they could shoot down planes with air burst ammo.
What have you been smoking dude?
Yamato was actually going to Midway.
@@andrejmladenovski5457 The problem is they mostly did not use Yamato because of fuel expanses not of fear of it being sunk. Plus battleships were obsolete (as the aircraft carriers took the role of the flag ship and the main center of strategy) and was now used as artillery bombardment before amphibious assault.
It's often that Yamato is the right ship for the wrong war.
great video
Bismarck and Yamato the the true "Battleship" of the history...
they were definitely two of the biggest
Yea
All the Yamato ever did was sink.....at least the Bismark sunk the Hood, but that was only a battlecruiser
Andy McGowan Bismark would have survived if the one in a million torpedo hit destroyed the rudder.
Forgot the legendary Missisipi.
Play war thunder with this song in the battle of pear harbor, it's like heaven
on which side? ^^
ALE ŻYCIE TO NIE GRA
+ZeroTrookaz Nein, mein freund. Aces in Exile in a Spitfire, No Bullets Fly in a bomber and Metal Machine for a Tank. Now THAT's heaven.
Ignored Advice Productions Metal machine for tank???? GHOST DIVISION how about that one comrade.
ZeroTrookaz.........!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! And To Hell And Back...
well what we need to remember, is whilst the battleships that fought during the second world war, all of them were fantastic feats of engineering, we should really be commenting on the valiant men who crewed those ships.
I always thought Bismarck was the biggest battleship. Owell I learnd somthing new :)
Great vid tho :)
Anyone also want to stick their dick in a battle cruisers
When's one dies courageously there nation doesn't matter it deserves note and recognition
William Fairbanks No, not really. Unguided courage is nothing of praise. The French learned the definition of this with their knights, “stupidity”.
Cancerous Content I disagree if one dies courageously I believe they deserve note and at least respect for having stood against you and fighting and not just giving up at the first sign of combat
It was Bismark and Eugen against HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales. The Hood was sunk when her aft magazine exploded. Prince of Whales was able to retreat though with heavy damage and her turrets jammed.
Actually I think we could say that the USS Massachusetts is the best battleship ever. Considering that she fought the entirety of World War Two, served in both theaters, was in combat yet didn't loose a single man.
good music
cool video
epic music video
@Darth1214 lucky they were fighting on the same side... but the Bismarck wasn't a unicate. There was a second Bismarck-class battleship called Tirpitz sunk in Norway and a third one in progress
Jeder Mensch ist gleichviel wert
No one said it was indestructible. Compared with other battleships in existence during the time, the Yamato was the world's best battleship. Just because you're the best doesn't mean you're unkillable. Look up the statistics, this thing was bigger than anything the US had.
If you Guys wanna know More about the Yamato, look the Movie Battleship Yamato on Amazon Prime. The movie tells the whole Story about Yamato and its Crew. It has a great Soundtrack and its honestly a good Movie. And its richtig. She never fought in Midway. At the end of WW2 she Had a suicide Mission to defend or Attack Okinawa. She never Had a Chance to have success in this Mission!!
the yamato (1945) was sunk at the battle if okinawa along with her sister ship musashi (1944).
Would be cool, if Sabaton did a song about Taffy 3!
good song + good video quality = Freaking Epic
May that ship rest in the Peace for what it isnt made for. Together with its Sailors. They defended Japan until the end and Hiroshima and Nagasaki shows why
Rozpierdol 💥
What are those spitfire doing here. 0:41
Navigational error ?
Love the song ... the video that you matched with it was inappropriate. Some scenes from the orioginal Pearl Harbow would have been great, those dealing with the Japanese carriers and their fighters before coming into view of Hawaii. The movie that most of the footaghe should have come from is, odly enough, Midway.
This way, you wouldn't see ships being destroyed at dock in a song about the battle of Midway, when there weren't any ships at dock. Also I don't know where the ...
That's enough, I think you get the picture. Great song, bad post.
by firing level shots through her at point blank range and doing zero damage at or below the waterline
Yamato and Tirpitz are biggest ships
Spitfires at 0:41. Not usre if they`ve taken part in Midway though :)
Аре бе нема ли поне един български коментар, ако има поправете ме защото не видях всички,а песента е супер
Cool video except there's one shot in the video showing RAF fighters not to mention some of the other scenes depict the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Naval battles are the most brutal, people crumbles along with the airplanes/battleships, corpses will fall to the bottom of the sea.
I see it says Yamato at movies, but witch one? I've seen Letters and Pearl, and would love to see the other parts of this clip in full ;D
which film is that? :P
and awesome clip :)
so i see scenes from midway and pearl harbor, but there seems to be another movie or two im not recognizing. what arre all the films?
One of them is "Letter's from Iwo Jima"
eh, the bismarck received a similar pounding than the Yamato, difference is the bismarck's full hull sits right-site-up at the bottom of the ocean, not blown in two.
u r so cool
whats the music at the end when they are showing the battleship yamato and the stats and stuff
Movement of the Red Star its letters of Iwo Jima theme music
that uss midway sunk in 1937
and its mordern today
Yamato and Bismarck classes were the biggest Axis Battleships while the American Iowa and King George V class were the biggest Allied.
I have to admit, the subject matter is odd considering that Midway was almost exclusively (save for I-168 sinking the listing and badly damaged but still afloat Yorktown after Hiryu's destruction) fought by carrier-based aircraft against other carriers.
Unfortunately, it does seem that Sabaton has neglected to put out a song for surface actions, so I guess we must make do.
+Richard Chan Yeah. Nothing about Denmark Strait or Leyte Gulf. There's only "Wolfpack" to contend with for now...
+Ignored Advice Productions Hardly a surface action, either. Pity, because with things like Samar, Ironbottom Sound, Ten-go, or the prolonged hunt for the Bismarck, there are a lot of battleship actions that are really fucking metal.
Richard Chan Certainly. Well, hats off you, sir. See you around.
TENNO HEIKA BANZAAAAI!
Takahashi マット先輩 Hold this L
video was very much all over the place, but good effort
There wasnt many battleship to battleship fights in WW2, Bismarck was sunk by Royal Navy carrier air wing, Arizona was sunk in Pearl harbor by Japanese bombs, I dont remember any real deal battle ship on batttleship fights in WW2.
Sabaton fuckin rule - make love, not war :)
awesome song!
Remember the fallen!
wow
Can you re do this video with the new Midway film?
spitfires?
i'm just kidding, good video
So someone else's noticed! I know the Australians where give mk1s and 2s but I don't think they served in the pacific.
i'm certain they weren't in Midway either way.
Sartlarim i da
@Qusza2007 huh then which ship was i thinking off, I recall one of the larger ships being sunk by destroyer
How many attack planes survived attacking Yamato?
Nearly all of them. She was built for the wrong war.
All respect to my country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rest in piece all brave japanese warriors!
+Yoshikazu Takahashi Pearl Harbor was a cowardly move that ended up killing many innocent people. My grandfather was leaving church that morning and as they were about to get in their car, a fighter strafed the car in front of them. Does that sound brave to you?
+Live4 Da Memes if it comes to that ''killing innocent people '' than the People from the USA should shut up what about Hiroshima and Nagasaki Millions of people died there and even after the explosion 100000 ths more died thow radiation . Or what about Vietnam in that war you guys used toxic bombs where also hundreds of thousands people died by poisen . And all of this the USA did ''in the name of freedom'' this is ironic . But at the end all this doesn't matter because this is War in war there is no right and wrong there are no rules . The only thing which is counting is who wins and who loses .
yes indeed
rip
i respect only soldiers not generals cause it was some kind of "game" who kills the most of chinese civils
How many aircraft did she take down? That was one hell of a battle, shame it was not a truly naval one...
Respect to Japan and the brave Japanese soldiers that fought to the last man
No matter what country they are born, all soldiers are heroes
+Qwert and, FYI war crimes were committed by fanatics like the kempeitai, the SS etc. not regular soldiers.... You should show some respect for these men...
small things compared to the former allied forces did, and are still doing, to poor countries around the world, things that filled the world with even more conflicts, and most probably, things that will draft the world into another big war
+Qwert the Dresden bombing wasn't of strategical importance. There wasn't any military casualties and the whole city was raised to the ground. The two atomic bombs? These aren't bad? They've changed humanity...
+Qwert it's even worse than the Korean subjugation... Way worse...
+Qwert here are some facts for you... Search operation cherry blossoms at night, fat man and little boy. From what I understand, you're Korean as each country focuses more on the bad things are done on them instead of what they've done. I'm not saying that Korea did bad things, but it wasn't only the allies which suffered. My country(Greece) suffered too, but we know that the Germans and the Italians were crushed. Fanatic countries like japan, did awful things but they were worse things done to them
good video, also little know fact the yamato's sister ship was sunk by a Fletcher class destroyer
@EmstCntRob No the largest Battleship was the Yamato class and U.S Iowa class is bigger than the Bismark. But the Bismark was more advanced and bigger than the British ships it was fighting against. That's how it made it's name.
Ironic, considering how it was destroyed
The Yamato was a very good ship it's sad that it was sunk and destroyed
Japan didnt even use its firepower
They loaded it with explosives and gave it fuel for a one way trip
It was just used a giant kamikaze ship, it sunk before it could get close enough
Read up about the Second Naval Battle of Guadalcanal and the Battle of Surigao Strait, not to mention the actions against the Bismark in the North Atlantic.
Naval warfare is my fav, it's about the domanance of air, surface, and sub-surface. While ground warfare is just all about manpower and the amount of sources you pull. I prefer the war in Pacific over the German-Soviet war.
I would not say that the Yamato was the most powerful battleship of its time. As much as I hate to say it, the Bismarck most certainly holds that honor.
@Darth1214 I don't know. It was one of those standard History channel docus. I'm from Germany so the title was dubbed but something with Yamato - Glory of Japan
I don't know why you mention the number of aircraft against the Yamato vis-a-vis the Pearl Harbor raid, they were two completely different situations. Pearl Harbor was at rest, unaware of any threat thanks to the Japanese not declaring war before their attack, and the battleships were anchored and had cold engines. The Yamato was well aware it was in a combat zone and was under way when she was sunk. Of COURSE it would take more aircraft. A prepared foe is a dangerous one that can fight back.
Japanese Army in Fighter Plane👍🏻❣💞💕💓💘💗❤💖💝🇯🇵
Technically incorrect IGN Yamato was armed with 18" 50 caliber main guns with a max range of 20 miles firing a 1300 kg projectile targeted and adjusted by a human spotter visually estimating range speed ect and had a top speed of 24 knots both the South Dakota Class and Iowa Class boasted 16" 50 Caliber main batteries with a max range of 32 miles targeted by radar and a computer yes the used a computer that was housed in two large rooms for adjustment the computer could even take into account
Difference between Yamato's sinking and Pearl Harbor? The Yamato knew she was at war BEFORE she was attacked. And wasn't anchored in a shallow water port. And she was thrown away in a suicidal, futile, empty gesture for "honor."
No similarities between them, actually.
What is the name of this movie, guys?
during 1942 yamato went under upgrade from her inferior type 39 26 inch armor to type 40 rolled homogeneous steel armor 3 feet thick effective of 4 feet giving yamato the most advanced and effective armor for a battleship during world War 2 Her type 40 armor was superior against 16 inch shells and didn't Crack or spit like the type 39 did and she received 15 61kw radar and night optics making her the most deadly and heavyweight and deadly battleship ever made in ww2 it was not the tarpedo That sunk yamato it was the weight of her that sunk her
Well she was send a kamikaze mission, if they would have loaded her with explosives and shot the canons she would probably have sunk a few ships before sinking
And it was sunk by a F6F Hellcat, Lz
First of, it's IJN, not IGN Yamato. She was armed with 45 cal. guns, not 50 cal, and the same goes for the SoDak. The max range of the 18"/45 Type 94 was 45,960 yards, the max range of the 16"/50 Mk.7 42,345 yards. The Bismarck carried 15"/52 cal. guns, where the 14"/35 number comes from is beyond me, and the Bismarck had more armour in the belt than the SoDak, while weaker in other aspects(deck, mainly). Bismarck was deffinetly a battleship.
what movie are these scenes from?
the description and stats of the Yamato are copied and pasted from google translate
@mxfirehead pearl harbor and yamato. its said in the description...
We all are forgetting the ship that helped take down a few ships, the USS Wisconsin!
Wisconsin is the sister we dont talk about.
YAMATO BEST SHIP
MADE OF GLORIOUS NIHON STEERU
FOLDED OVER 100000 TIMES
CAN CUT THROUGH ANYTHING
Anon Ymous ...but was sunk by an F6F hellcat
Can cut through anything =/= Can't be cut by anything.
Also, it's a meme you dip.
@Darth1214 until I saw a documentary about the Yamato a few years ago
Hmm Attacked :) and the Yamato is an Japanese ship right?
Must not have been too bad ass... it sunk.
Why is the video about Pearl Harbour?
and the right answer was 'we must fly on them. lol what are bombs?'
0:34 tecnically in our pants :v
Subway! We eat at subway! SAANDWICHHH STORE!!
@PsychoChildSWE they drank sake. it was a traditional japanese drink. i dont remember the exact reasons but it was basically they're way of sending them off. besides its not enough to get drunk
