My boy Oliver back at it again! Congratulations and let's hope more awesome projects come your way! And also: Yes! Share with us all the process if you can do, thanks!
Whatever Oliver touches turns into gold. This was a very inspirational attempt. Loved everything about it. As an aspiring architectural professional myself, this is one of the best ways to learn - through Upstairs. Congratulations & thank you for the video
Thanks!!! That axonometric has lots of steps involved, it was the last drawing we created before submitting the boards. If I had more time I’d have done even more to it. Maybe I can also show that one the video 😁
congrats!! 🥳🥳👏👏on winning the competition and sure, I would love to see further videos related to this project and I hope it will help me to learn some new things as well.
Hello Oliver! You did very well in this competition! Presentation of a winning team! I really liked the solutions presented for the project, from the many options created to the graphic and technical representation. As a suggestion: I would like to see a new video about the real design process for architecture competitions! What to consider and what to avoid? And to finish, once again, congratulations on this achievement! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great work. I really want to know, What you guys were up to when searching for that maquette style representation. And also breakdown the first day scene render, it’s just awesome.
Thanks!! Our goal with that one was to feel like a physical model, but I wish I added a bit more of a paper like texture to the material. It was inspired by the models we were doing with our hands during the process. The ones Rodrigo is a master at 😁 Okay! Breakdown added to the list of future videos
Congratulations! You deserve it, is a really really good project. I would love a video of the night view render and also the one showing the facade that you can see the apartments inside, I think they're awesome, also maybe a breakdown on how did you came up with this interesting shape in plant view. :)
Amazing work, congrats! Would like to hear more about how to produce the technical drawings. To create both aesthetically beautiful drawings, that communicate in a good way. And of course some tips and tricks in Archicad, such as what pen sets to use to create the hierarchy you have.
That’s the one I’m thinking about, lots of Photoshop was involved in creating that image. I’ll probably need to create one video in between this one, but already adding on the list if there’s interest! 🙌 Thanks, Primo Dañel!
Congratulations Oliver and your friends!! 🥳 We are doing apartments for our studio project this semester as well and your board provided a lot of inspirations, especially that aerial diagram! 😍🙌 May I ask how do you use Vray on Archicad? Do you convert the model to Sketchup and render Vray with Sketchup?
Hey Pei Kai! Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad this video has inspired you 😄 As for Vray, yes it was exported from Archicad to Sketchup so that I could render the model using Vray. This is not such an ideal workflow, but with every change, we managed to then export only the new part and "paste it in place" in Sketchup.
Congrats for winning with the architectural competition. Could you tell us the technique of that isometric render with beige atmosphere? Thanks and greetings from architects of PH.
Seria com certeza! O problema é que também pediram uma escala de 1:200, e então não cabia na prancha. Se tivesse deixado escala livre, poderiamos ter apresentado em 1:250 e tudo encaixaria perfeitamente. Valeu, Bruno!
Thanks, Man ti Yeon! There are a couple of reasons we were able to use Archicad on such a short time. 1. They have a well curated template. It’s not something you download off a website, but refine over the years. So all that initial file setup goes really fast. 2. They are used to working in Archicad and have done a couple of project similar to this one we did (Apartment buildings) 3. We also used Archicad connected over the cloud. That allows for multiples people to use the same file at once. The tip is to practice! 😅 You need to design and document different types of project to learn in full. And watch a lot of tutorials! That helps a lot 🙌
A very great design and very beautiful and informative rendering, want to ask how you guys make that isometric drawing, it's just fantastic in my opinion, please break it down 🙏❤️
How many hours did You guys put in collectively? Young architect myself, me and my colleagues do competitions here in Estonia. We usually put ca 180-240 hrs (or more depending on project) collectively per competition.
😂😂 really? Well we did a lot of reference searching at the beginning but we didn’t see any that was an exact copy. The shape and form was a result from the many decisions we took during the process. But I’d love to check out this project you mentioned haha now you got me curious
bro puedes considerar hacer un tutorial sobre la casa de tu anterior video en lumion ya sea gratis o con algun costo me gusto como te quedo y me gustaria aprender si pudieras enseñar a hacer esa escena exterior
Thanks my friend! Glad to see you around here. I’ve learned a lot from your videos, and some things that I used to create the competition renderings 🙌 so I appreciate your work!
Hi. Can anyone recommend webpages for competitions that are recognized / have recognized international sponsers and have a lifetime subscriptions for competitions?
Yeah if you think about it this way we had one less thing to think about 😄 But we started thinking on the board 2 or 3 weeks before submitting the work. We didn't have the project solved, but based on the scales they asked for and site size we already drafted how the board could look like.
Well done on the design, it looks very good. What did you get for third place? As a professional in the industry, I just want to say what I think about Architectural Competitions: Architectural Competitions are cancer! And although you are right to be proud of your design, you should not romanticise the Competition Process. Spending weeks on a design for no fee should be left in the Studios of Architecture School when you graduate. Now I know this is fantasy because the industry now expects Architects to compete with each other for free (blame Architects for setting that precedent in the first place), but it shouldn't be romanticised. From a design point of view be proud, but as a business you have failed and your gamble has not paid off. I suppose it doesn't matter because you can always add it to your portfolio? Yeah, I've heard that one before too. Or in your case - make a YT video out of it. Competing against 100 other architects? - might a well play the lottery. Even contractors will refuse to participate in tendering a job if there are too many competitors.
Hey Craig, thanks a lot! And also, I appreciate the extensive input. I agree with you in many ways, but there are also points I have a different opinion on. I see competitions as this option to tackle projects you wouldn't normally do with regular clients. A type of challenge where you're a bit more "free" to develop a solution you truly believe in, as opposed to a set of specifications the client wants just because. There's also one other important factor I see... for example in the case of Olmo, they're a very young practice that won't necessarily have the opportunity to bring on that type of project that early in their career. They have worked as Architects in other firms so they've got that experience, but it depends on networking on a lot of other things to land such a huge contract. Competitions give you that opportunity to show your skills. Landing a project like such can turn the firm around and put them in the spotlight where other clients might hire them because of such achievement. If someone wins amongst 100 firms at a national level, that must mean something. Yes you "work for free" if you don't win anything, from a business perspective risks like that may not be possible. Maybe someday will be a better solution... But Idk, not everything is about money, there's a different rush in joining competitions, so why not then mix that type of project with regular clients if possible? The last comment I'll add is that there are competitions and there are "competitions". We usually take a close look at the rules and guides before deciding to join them. Because if you win it, there's a whole lot of work ahead of you, and it needs to be fairly paid. Hopefully, my reply wasn't too harsh, at least that wasn't my intention 😅 Again, thanks a lot for your comment, that's what the comment section should also be about! Have a great weekend, Craig!
Oh, I forgot to answer the first question! First place R$50k + R$350k contract to develop the project until Construction Drawings. The second place got R$30 or 35k I don't remember actually. And then the third place was R$15k. If you want to convert that to USD, it's 5 R$ (real) to 1 USD, but you also need to remember that the industry pays a lot differently depending o the country. Architects in the US get paid A LOT, I mean A LOT more than architects in South America, or more specifically in Brazil which is where I'm based.
Jane Jacobs and her book , "Death and Life of Great American Cities" inspired all large high raise building to include public space to to create circulation. If Brazil hasn't understood this concept - sad.

Amazing works , how can you guys works this on Archicad in that short time ? Is there any tips can help architectural students?

There are a couple of reasons we were able to use Archicad on such a short time.

NO. The isometric views should of been placed on a new board. That space should of been used to add another view.
@@bluedog101c there were a maximum of 3 boards, and that’s it! If board limit wasn’t an issue, ohh then everything would’ve been placed differently 😅
