I was comparing my 2011 Robocop fig. Looks like what you have is merely a re-paint of the 2011 version. Welcome to the world of toy collecting.

For this long awaited ultimate version of Robocop i cannot see why Neca would not give this figure extra hands, especially fisted.

I really wanted to see an open right hand for when you want him to NOT hold a gun. Seriously, their 12 inch version of their Robocop came with that option, why have they never released a 7 inch figure with a neutral open right hand? XD
Just got this figure. Like you've stated the paint work, small details and Weller sculpt are the absolute standouts.
The QC issues are real. The hands/wrists on mine appear to have been overpainted. Neither could rotate and even after heating them up, i can only get his left hand moving freely now

the articulation seems to mimic his limited range of movement in the movie haha. Reminds me of the Keaton Batman swivel.
Yeah, most of the movement I’m ok with, but the wrist not working on a hinge like most of the other figures out there and the shoulders need like 10% more
The gun, it doesn’t slide in. You put it straight in from the side and it hangs by the little rounded peg sticking through the trigger ring.
Yeah, I had to watch other reviews and still struggled. Haha!
That's the issiue I had I looked at instructions and it still wouldn't go in when I finally got it to fit It wouldn't close and the leg bit flew apart ..I got it back together but it closed ok when the gun wasn't in ..now it's in the box on display as the figure is VERY FRAGILE I'm scared of something breaking and best bit is I'm not even heavy handed ...the looks and detail are great everything else is poor
The biggest articulation upgrades they needed are ankle rockers, new lower torso articulation with the ball joints sitting inside the hips so they are useful and the lower cut abdominal swivel replaced with a boll joint, which means you'd have to use the "diaper" crotch people complain about but I think would work with the armor design here. Next we need better ball and socket shoulders for sure, maybe employ some butterfly joints in the torso so you can bring his arms forward more for certain poses and at LEAST ball jointed wrists. I get that NECA paid a very high price for Peter Weller's likeness rights and that killed any extensive retoolings, especially in THIS economy, and I am VERY glad to have his unmasked likeness on the battle damaged figure but hopefully they can get back tho this again with updated articulation.
Oh, and yes, you can get the gun in the leg holster, it's just a pain in the ass to get in and back out again.
Even after watching another video I couldn’t get that in the holster. Haha! Good points about articulation. I would have been happy with just a bit more arm range though.

More arm range for sure but ankle rockers as well, just so he can stay flat footed with a wider leg stance.

But this one isn't the battle damaged version. It's like a _'Murphy sitting in their docking port battery charging chair talking'_ version. But they did make a full-on battle damaged version, I'm pretty sure. I'd just avoid all of these and go with the Mafex ones. Yeah, definitely more money, but _so_ worth it if you're a RoboCop fan.
I passed on all the old ones and I wish they improved the articulation on this one. I would give it a 3.5/5 just because it is a nice sculpt but pretty lazy on NECA's part.
Yeah, I don’t have experience with the older ones, but it does look to just be an update using the likeness of Peter. It’s a bummer, but it looks great!
It may seem like a nice sculpt, but when you compare it to the Mafex ones, it's night and day. Mafex looks like a legit shrunken down Peter Weller in the suit, the NECA one looks like someone sculpted it (albeit well) with Silly Putty. And yeah, disappointing they didn't do a complete overhaul. They should've at least sculpted a new helmeted head.

In my opinion this figure is not Worst, i have 5 NECA RoboCop including this one in my collection💙. One advice i would give NECA is that they should learn from other Toy companies like Mafex & Good Smile Company to improve and give more articulation in their Robo figures. Also the most important part for Robo would be accessories, with this Ultimate Release they should have gave more hands and interchangeable heads just like how they give alot of accessories for their Horror Figures.

For the price point it’s perfect it’s an awesome figure to put in front of the movies. Can’t wait for the battle damage version with the chair to come out

I just opened my old neca Robocop, I have it for 15 years or something, but the interesting thing is that he has silver on the connection arm, the new ones don't

I missed out on this guy years ago, so I went ahead and preordered this one. I knew what I was in for beforehand., though. They could certainly improve the articulation, but the figure is able to hit some Robocop-like poses. He was pretty stiff in the movie…and the figure does a pretty good job of replicating that…lol. I think my expectations were just lower than a lot of other peoples’. In fact, he’s not as limited as I thought he’d be!
He’s still pretty great. It’s funny in the movie they had to remove the lower half of the suit so he could fit in the car
I just picked it up and I agree. It's great in the looks department and has some of the worst articulation of any of the NECA figures I have. Your scoring is on point.

I got the one with the chair I did a boil and Pop with the holster leg on the ultimate ... Now I've got to add some damage to it The chair is a really good accessory to have tho

This is the same exact mold as the last release. They should've added some articulation for this release. It's a shame.
Agreed! Nothing “ultimate” about it. A couple extra hands or wrist articulation
Just between us, I prefer the Hiya Toys line. They're much smaller, but they're way better articulated, and the accessories are great.

Watching this had me posing my Mafex Robo 2 figure and pulling the NECA one out a container to do a little comparin' & contrastin'. Like you get a full-on 90° bend at the elbows with the Mafex ones...and they have that _'pull outta the side of the body on multiple ball joints'_ arms, where you can have them grabbing their helmet and whatnot. And oh boy, ankle pivot with the pistons connected to the calves via ball joints.
I have that part 1 battle damaged helmet-less version on pre-order. So gonna be awesome posing them battling ED-209...or takin' pot shots at baby goo jars. I _soooo_ recommend you getting any of those man. Ah, they're golden, and articulate like immaculate butter. And the accuracy on the heads are _spot-on;_ very different than NECA's less than stellar attempts.

_Ohhhh,_ I totally didn't even notice that was your first video lol. Hm, so as far as critiquing it, I'd say I would've (as I pretty much already mentioned) never knew you were brand new to figure review makin' videos. With the social awkwardness and having to tweek around with that unless you want literally everyone thinking you're a super weirdo (in a bad way), the acting experience, and so forth made you a natural at video making.
The old ones are kinda like you're a little stoned, and the newer ones are like you're on a little coke...with post-production special effects that take forever to do. Both styles have that "you-ness" about them

I do like that black pliable material stuff you have in the background when you start gettin' handsy with the figures.

I always remembered the pistol being silver in my head huh, guess not. Ya the there's no details at all with the weapons. Very Detailed review. I always worry about spring loaded stuff. Kind of wish they just allowed it to be opened manually.
I think that leg piece will break for some people. It was awkward and delicate. I think the movie gun reflected light due to the metal, but we just don’t get anything here. It’s a bit sad
Spot on.. I just got it.. almost broke the arm trying to rotate the forearm section. Aside from that looks really Awesome.

Interesting that they used the spring loaded holster one. Neca has made a lot of robocops. I remember at the time these were new medicom had a robocop but could not get Peter Wellers likeness rights. I'm happy with the Robocop vs. Terminator video game ones. But nice that your review shows comparisons to the film. Neca does advertise its accuracy to the material.

Yeah, the holster is really sensitive and I’m sure it will break for some. NECA has really amped up their quality from what I have seen as a new collector. Anything that isn’t a rerelease is kind of wild with accuracy to the film versions. I’m hoping a new Aliens set comes because I would love a Ripley and Newt set.
I bought it as I didn't own one and now I can have him go against the terminator fig by neca.

I pre-ordered the one with the chair for $70 but looking at this, I'm not even sure I still want it...

Exactly! Nothing Ultimate about this ten year old mold. Theirs no reason, for me at least, to get this figure if I already have the Original Part 1 Robocop and the one with the Jet Pack.

Yea articulation is kinda sucky but great looking figure. I never had a chance to get the original but I love this one, one of my favorite neca figures now.
He really does look wonderful!
Love robocop but this is just a reissue with an add on headsculpt.. I have the first version....to be honest I kinda like the video game robocop because its more brightly color in a video game style. And is more eye catching colorwise. I would suggest getting the endo robocop from. The comic robocop vs terminator which looks way cooler.
And those were such fun games. Robocop vs terminator is the movie we all want!
Is it missing the holster in the leg? I ask this because the other opening leg figure has a place to hold the 93R
I watched another review and that one had a piece of paper with instructions. I don’t have that, but I may revisit to see if I can copy what is done in that review. Doesn’t make sense! Haha
Got mine yesterday after a long wait. Articulation is a problem but my issues were the forearms. They just refused to move. After a bit of a struggle I finally succeeded and during the process ended up pushing the lever on the leg and just like that the second piece falls off and now I am spending the next half hour trying to put it back without breaking it.
I love the overall look but there is no way I am ever gonna try playing with whatever limited articulations he's got. He feels fragile

@@NostalgiaUnboxed Your review was so spot on. For an ultimate figure it is just not that great. But the look is awesome. He is just standing there on my shelf and I love it.
But I really don't like the paint work of Neca especially when it come's to the skin tone. It peels off. The murphy/peter weller head arrived with a bit of faded skin color. And defenders of the earth phantom going through the same issues.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed I remember this one review I watched for Phantom. That guy had similar issues. Don't remember the reviewer. But yeah it's been a frequent issue with Neca which rarely gets mentioned. Skin color peels off. My Phantom's already losing it at the nose region and the knuckles. So I display him in the box and never take him out. Freaks me out but it is what it is...

So I am thinkin bout gettin this guy, because I love the movie, loved your review, given the price range and other robocop figures out there, if I really just wanted a figure of robocop would you say for the money this is the best, or is there another you would recommend?
Maybe wait for the battle damaged one. The price isn’t bad at all and a lot of people really love it, but it might as well be a statue in my opinion.
it's crazy neca is still using the same molds McFarlane used for this figure in his movie maniacs line back in like 2003, and for early 2000s McFarlane this level of articulation probably kept him up at night stressing him out because he put so much articulation in one of his figures!

I am tempted, but I have the 12" McFarlane version and I've preordered the mafex battle damaged one, so I have six inch covered also. I believe the mafex offers better range in it's articulation, if that's what you are looking for. What I really want is a 1:12 robo Cain from the 2nd movie. Now that is something neca could make into a great toy. Hiya toys just released one, bit I don't collect anything at that small scale. Looks good though.
Yeah, I think the mafex option is ideal at this point. The villain from the sequel would be crazy, too

Wouldn't make sense for me to get this as I already have the spring loaded 20th Anniversary edition. That Peter Weller head is the only selling point for me. But I will hold out for the battle damaged version and display him with the Weller head.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed ED-209 has it's flaws too. Little pissed about those flaps on the sides of his legs that pop out in the movie before he stands and walks, I tried gently to see if it hinged out and almost broke it off the little tab it's attached with.
Also, the sound effects left out my favorite line. lol

I have the first version from neca along Ed 209...but I prefer my hottoys robocop Murphy set with robocop in chair.
The chair set is nice
Easy pass. Weller head isn’t great. Hiya Toys is releasing a 1/12th RC with die-cast parts. Looks so much better. Also, MAFEX is releasing a battle damaged version with a Peter Weller head that has an incredible likeness to the actor. He only removed his helmet in the movie when he took some damage to his armor. Prior to that, his helmet was never removed.
All the scenes with the doctor, too. But yeah, I would never display it with the unmasked helmet, but a good battle damaged one with half his face showing would be epic. These rereleases just don’t generally seem to be worth it. Even the Alien Ripley (jumpsuit) has issues. They literally forgot to color in her chest patch on the new one but got it on the old one. I would prefer a full redesign for figures to get the updated quality of joints and such.
@@NostalgiaUnboxed oh yea, totally. NECA’s TMNT toon line is fantastic. Their Usagi Yojimbo easily made my top ten of the year. But yea, if you want a definitive RC figure I’d check out those I mentioned.

The leg u put the gun in be very careful the clips that hold the outer piece will brick on u if u use it too much

Yeah ...the gun does mount...but its a pain in the ass to do....I wouldn't bother since its very flimsy and breaks easy doing it.
I saw some people manage to get it in (apparently there are instructions but I didn’t have them). It’s best in his hand anyway considering he has, essentially, one pose. Lol
The instructions are useless it shows you how to get the gun in then you copy it and it still doesn't go in or if you get it in the leg is VERY FRAGILE to close
The gun can wedge in the thigh and it will close with it inside
I saw another review achieve this, but I couldn’t get it to happen. Haha

Mine is on the way. The guns don't b9ther me, but the data spike hand does, because it really unhinged, and this model loo,s like he basically makes a fist, and there are no silver highlights, but Id say it's a pretty solid model.
I definitely agree that the arm positioning kind of sucks.

@@NostalgiaUnboxed You did a good job. Iwould have bought it based off your review anyway. Got mine yesterday, but I have to send it back. frigging forearms were so tight that when i tried turning them, I ended up breaking one of the pistons on his feet.
Also got Predator on the same day. one of his big toes popped off so I'm sending that back for exchange too. these models are highly detailed, but seem a bit fragile.

Certainly not cheap. I don’t think it’s so bad, but not at all an “ultimate” level figure. Pretty disappointing regardless though

But robocop is supposed to not have that much articulation due to his robot frame right
not a lot but the arms are not going as far as they should. As for rating, I used to do this to scale figures, not to dunk on them

QC issues and likeness is worse compared to Mafex, when they did great with their Dutch figures. I guess its hard to nail a mouth piece as Im not really interested in the unhelmeted head.
Mafex does some great work

he's robocop, he is big, bulky and stilted. he is not that articulate in the films, the figure is accurate as far as im concerned
