We have one and use it to safely transport kitty in the car to the vet. She can move around in it more than her carrier. When belted into car, I open the top screen so she can peek out. It easily holds her and her blankie. That makes the car ride easier for her. Mine is from Jackson.
I had a cat backpack which I mounted to the back of my electric scooter (think MoPed), and I would take them to the vet in it. I could unzip the two sides to widen, and it fit my two dogs, also. The dogs loved to go on rides and see the world. It also held a lot of groceries and hauled home a lot of food in it! Now that I can no longer ride my scooter and have sold it, I use the extended handle on the backpack to roll the backpack along the ground for both the dogs and cats.
Hey, very thorough review and advice for cat parents. I noticed your hook is dangling on the top inside. There's a loop on the inside that the hook can attach to when it's not being used to roll the front mesh up. Keeps the hook out of the way so it doesn't accidentally bop the cat accidentally.
I recently purchased this pack and promptly returned it. The straps which are the more critical feature are a attached to the pack with just a single row of stitching. Unreliable and unsafe for serious outdoor use. Its OK I guess for short strolls or walking thru an airport, but definitely not for serious trail use. What a shame too. The pack addresses larger cats and has nice features, but due to way the way the straps are weakly attached, it's an overall FAIL. It's also way over-priced. Compared to other cat packs I have, this shouldn't cost any more than about $50 - $60.
Thanks for your comment. I'm not a serious hiker and am not familiar with stitching for that type of activity. But others who watch the video will appreciate your observation.
It seems pretty sturdy and should sustain some clawing, but my cats have not clawed at the mesh. So I don't have any hard information. I think that if you take time to get them used to it, they will probably not attack it.
Thanks for this video, the most informative i've seen on this product! On the product webpage from Travel Cat, it is written that the shoulder straps are detachable. I have been searching for a picture showing the backpack with the straps removed, but cant find one. I would really like to see if they are completely detachable so that when the bag is used as a carrier the shoulder straps are not hanging under and getting dirty. Would really like to see a picture of this and getting your opinion on that point if you dont mind :)
Thanks for your question, Estelle. The shoulder straps in this model cannot be completely removed. I don't know why they say that. You would need to tighten them up and strap them down to keep them from hanging. Thanks for watching!
Hey Estelle, I noticed that when I use my Navigator in the duffel mode, I just tighten the straps all the way and then clip the waist strap over them. This keeps them against the back panel and I can just roll and velcro the excess straps to keep it all organized.
If you are older like me you might like a stroller. I bought a four wheel about $60 n it was hard to steer as each of the double front wheels go bonkers. Then I got a $55 three wheel that if I put any weight on the handle the front flipped up n I almost fell. Sent it back. Then I got $150 one which has huge wheels, three of them from .Vidalgo. I can go on grass, gravel anything and it turns easy. Now my reason for getting the bigger one is I need a walker on occasion n found it embarrassing. With this stroller I feel secure and so does Toby. I would have gotten a backpack but at my age I like the stroller…😮❤. Thanks for the info. Oh I am not sponsored lolol
@@9LivesToLive the wheels are all. 11” wheels. I just took a walk n would have enjoyed a longer one but it is too hot here in Madras Oregon . Toby now goes in n out of it as I don’t close it up. It has become part of his play area. Thanks for your videos.
Thanks for sharing your experience! So glad your kitties enjoy it. This is a very informative video, we will certainly share it with our community!
Thanks YCB! I appreciate your comment!
I've thought about getting a backpack carrier for a while and this video has definitely given me some practical things to think about.
Great! That's what these videos are for. Thanks for your comment!
The hooks for the harnesses are a very good idea!!
I thought so too! Thanks for watching, Marti!

Being able to peek out might prevent cat sickness. Thanks for the suggestion, Cyn!

A backpack on rollers sounds like a good idea. I know they also make cat strollers. Thanks for watching, Darian!

Just ordered mine! I was curious if the mesh is sturdy enough so cats with sharp claws won't tear it? Thanks and great tips / video.

looking at other reviews who have used a sharp blade against it and it doesn’t rip at all it’s pretty good material
@@immortanchris yes- I concur- I ordered it and it’d take a tiger to claw through
Thanks for this review!! Very well done. If it rains, what then? no top cover
Good question, Emily! I guess you will just have to put something on top like a windbreaker. Maybe they will update it to solve the problem.

Thanks for your comment, Sunset! Strollers are great and I have done a video on them. Love the idea of the big wheels!
