Nice video, (again) ;0D It's also nice to see 2 familiar faces in the same cockpit.
Keep up the good work !!!
Finally, Josh flies a REAL airplane with retractable gear and everything ;)
I know, right?
That was really nice seeing two experienced pilots sharing the workload. Well Done!
Very nice flight, Josh! I haven't seen many videos with the Cessna Centurion but it is a really nice plane and has good performance. I remember watching a video with Steveo1kinevo flying Premier1Driver's jet to Key West. Steveo hand flew the entire flight. Greg remarked, "This is the first time his jet has been hand flown since he owned it". Great Job !
James Wikstrom thats a good video too
Great job, My two favorite UA-camrs in one place at one time! Let’s see more collaborations in the future.
I think that professional CFI counts as pro Josh ;) Nice job and thanks for taking us along!
Great job Josh flying your friends plane .
Great video. Nice to see my favorite folks together.
Cool flight, I've followed Josh since before he got his Instrument rating..... very enjoyable and professionally done Gentlemen. Cheers!!
I'm always happy to see collaborations between people that have channels that I watch :) I really liked the speaking pace of the controller at HYI. Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time to shoot these.
KHYI is a great airport with a great tower and is a relatively unknown airport for GA. Come on down to HYI guys you will love it. And stop by Skyport to use the pilot's lounge and get the white glove service. Say hi to John while your there. Also a great place for events!!!
@@gadgetdealz One day I will make it to KHYI.
You really should get used to a “primary” EDM 930. 😎
Great job hitting that center line! They are reserved for captains.
Great job gentlemen. Always a pleasure to watch both your channels.
Great teamwork between the two pilots👍
I love the 210, it has the best payload and speed of anything in it's class. It's a shame cessna stopped making them...however if they made a retract 206, that would be pretty sick! I love the idea of having a big rear cargo door. High wings are just so much easier to get in and out of! The most annoying thing I find with the 210 is that obnoxious buzz of the propwash in the cabin air vent intakes. I am a little jealous of you though, the full-on de-icing package and A/C! That would cost like $70k to add TKS and electric A/C to non-equipped N model.
New to the channel nice to see the collaboration.
Love josh and this channel you will be blessed this yr 2019 the best year yet
love watching both you guys. i always learn a lot. can't wait to get my ppl!!!!!
Loved it. Wonder if niner niner one is jealous of you flying other airplanes. She is your mistress! LOL
Enjoyed the video! Nice collab with Josh. Flown plenty of Cessna's, but never had the chance in a 210 yet. Looks like a fantastic plane! Cheers from KBTR/KHDC!
I love the 210!
I love the 210!
I love the 210!
what an awesome approach controller, giving you the notam
😎
Approach was repeating that for other planes too, must be folks going into Hondo were somehow overlooking the amendments and causing problems, so he was making _damn_ sure...
Nice that the back-seat driver was able to provide a useful/helpful bit of info, LOL.
I found the channel through Aviation101 and couldn't be more impressed. Awesome content! But I won't get into why I found Josh's channel. lol
Awesome! (And yet worrisome at the same time).
that was very nice. good job guys. scenery was gorgeous.
I watched Josh's channel first you guys have too much fun I'm jealous
@4:19 That scan checkin that wheel. Lookin like Mark Zuckerberg. lol
I recommend you do an episode on icao phraseology. People need to be awre that it is possible to have non native speakers in yoir airspace & that there are alot of options (for) concerning the to/too/2 & the for/4 traps. I find it interesting how often people talk on the radio, insted of actually communicating. It should not be about having 'nice sounding language' - but making sure on 'getting relevant information broadcasted' in a precise,
non confusing fashion.
or why do you think you broadcast '9' as 'niner'?
I have about 20 hours in a 210. My dream airplane. Of course I'd love to have one, but $$$ dictate that I settle for our club's 182 and 172.
Great looking plane 👌
Just realized that you follow this channel. Cool. I’m a subscriber 😊
Aussie pilot there on coms at 27:33. Nice video, well put together, subscribed. Love Cessna RGs.
That was a great flight too many pilots on board that you guys had a great time you forgot to turn the AC off on your dissent but I still give you a five star.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 👍🏻
Thanks, it caught my eye and had me wondering.
great vid
Nice flying I had a friend that had a 210 few years ago went to sun in fun nice
Great learning experience for Josh
For Josh??? You should have seen his breadcrumbs on the path during IMC handflying. The dude rocked it.
Josh says he always learns something from the experience I'm sure he got a lot from this flight.
For sure... I know I walked away with some things on my list to work on. I've been flying long XC's so much, I think I've forgotten how to hand fly.
Great video.
Was at the event in Hondo. Did not want to bother you guys as you worked. Nice job
Why did I get the sense that Golden Eagle pilot when being asked about the NOTAM's was doing the same thing I do with my misses, just nod and agree without actually listening.
Just to give your audience a idea how thick soup is you should include them footage from the wing while going through the soup or marshmallow whatever you want to call it
Great video as always. Quick question for Josh - you said that on the 172 you're not allowed to have the Landing Light and Taxi Light on at the same time. I've flown several 172s and never seen or heard of such a restriction. I know that on the CAP 172s that have pulse lights we're not supposed to have both pulse and other white lights on at the same time, but that's because the circuitry interferes with each other and so you don't know if you get pulse or solid, not because it might actually do damage.
He didn't say you are not allowed he said you are not able. Some 72s have a single switch off/taxi/landing so you either can turn on taxi or landing at one time. Some other models have separate switches for taxi and landing lights and you can turn them on and off independently.
Lots of flat areas to land if you have engine issue on take off.
Waiting for Dan to be First Officer aboard N70TB. ✈️😎👍
nice one!
I always feel better and prefer hanging out with like minded pilots...
Great video! Do you follow any particular type of power schedule when descending (i.e. 1”/min. reduction) to minimize shock cooling or for the turbo?
There's not really anything like that in the POH. I usually watch the EGT's and will open/not open the cowl flaps, adjust throttle, etc based on what I'm seeing.
seeing is knowing
Is that an old Skywest Emb-120 on the ramp at the start?
Awesome flight guys! @Aviation101, don't you have to be checked out on a plane before you can fly it? Or does having CFI nullify that?
The FAA does not require a "check out" in same category/class. Many schools/rentals/insurance do have requirements, but since I own this plane, it's totally legal for Josh to fly it, and with me (a certificated pilot) up front, he technically wouldn't even need a PPL.
@@TakingOff Very cool to know! That leads to the other question, Since I am training in a skyhawk, that must mean that once I do my FAA check ride and get my ticket, I can fly a 152 or 182? Also, where do you film In The Hanger and how do you get to be in the audience?
We film in Fort Worth and we'd love to have you come and sit in the Audience. Creating a Facebook Event on our FB page, so check it out (FB: TakingOff)
As far as your first question-- Let's break down how the FAA defines it: Category: You're going for "airplane" (not helicopter, glider etc). Class: Single-engine (not multi-engine). YOu're also going for Land not seaplane I'm guessing. So when you get your certificate, you get an ASEL (airplane, single engine land). You might hear "type rating" but that only applies when you're airplane gets to be over 12,500 pounds (so I wouldn't worry about that right now). Another layer of confusion comes in some endorsements you might need: The FAA wants you to have an endorsement for operating a plane over 200hp, and also and endorsement for operating a "complex" aircraft, defined as have all three of these complex features-- moveable flaps, controllable pitch on your prop and moveable landing gear. (If you have two of these three, it's not complex and you don't need the endorsement). Make sense? So once you get your PPL, you can fly any single engine airplane thats under 200hp, that's not complex.
Question? It may not even make since . Does it take load off the autopilot servos if the airplane is trimmed before engaging it? Or does the autopilot not care or trims itself .
In my case, the plane will trim itself out on elevator trim (not rudder trim). It's an old 400B.

I love the 210 and want to find one to rent.
I love mine!!
@@TakingOff Most of my time is in high wing Cessna aircraft. Around 40 hrs is in a 172RG Cutlass and another 4 in a 182T and 206.
Couple questions, what is up with the windshield and what’s the thing hanging off the right wing, radar?
Windshield is a hot plate for de-icing. Yes, radar on the right wing.
21:58 someone’s getting a traffic conflict on the scope 😂
Hey Josh... why do you prefer the light speed headset over the Bose? (Just curious)
must be sponsored :) I have both and I prefer the Bose hands down!
Excellent video, the only thing I have to ask, is did you after getting off the active runway call clear of runway allowing for the Cessna 421 to know he could land, especially knowing he was behind you and he would be monitoring the unicom frequency. I didnt see it in the video and I am just wondering.
Yes, but got no response. I edited it out. He came in and landed with no calls. We're guessing he stayed with Approach.

@@TakingOff Cool :) Just because it was drilled into me in the past, always to make the call, I was just looking for it. It was an awesome video :) I subscribed and liked
@@jesperhouken8075 Thanks!!!
You guys utilize checklists far more than I ever do. I use one for my run-up, but I never use a formal checklist after that.
Yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do. For me, I know Im a bit ADD and impatient. When I don't use checklists, invariable I get out on the runway and find out I didn't set my flaps to 10 kind of stuff.
And the Professional guys keep a mighty good safety record by always using checklists. Nothing wrong with a flow check and then backing it up with the list. Nice plane by the way!
@@TakingOff I agree... I always use checklists religiously
@@pssryan I understand. I am not a professional pilot. I don't want to be one. I fly about 100 hours a year safely without going to the lenghts that some pilots do. If my passengers want to talk to me while I'm landing I'll talk to them. If we're swapping controls, I don't say it 3 times, just for some examples.
Matt Basford, I didn't either during my past flying. Then You Tube came along and i checked out Guido and Jessie Flies and Corporate Pilot Life and I realized what a pro op looks like and what a yahoo I'd been. I noticed that Mr Flowers uses them regularly now also.
Just curious, but Is there a panel missing on the aft fuselage, right above "Y" in the call sign?
It's a vent.
the wing shots seem to show a missing panel above the "Y" ..tell me i'm wrong LOL
LOL. It's where the cabin air vents out (I believe part of the AC flow)
What does oil on the wind screen indicate?
That your prop might have an issue. The constant speed prop is adjusted by engine oil going up in there.
I don’t get 3 prop pulls. One pull I listen for rpm drop and watch manifold pressure rise. If it works then oil pressure is good and if there’s oil on the windshield, I would notice that before I took off. Too much useless lugging of the engine to do it three times. Just my opinion. To each his own.
visual confirmation, via the panel, never lies... ears, and noticing, not as "definite", but never hurts as backup to each check of the prop
Centerline for Captains
He nailed it.
What ‘bout them cowl flaps?
You don't include Cowl Flaps during your runup?
leaky vents --- another common Cessna trait (that and shimmying nose wheels)
Cowl flaps stay open on runup (with the exception of extreme cold, like I show on the Mt Rushmore video)

What is the bump on the underside of the plane @ 29:27 under 20Y?
Near the back? Air Conditioning vent.

Plans an ifr flight to airport, knows they will be in imc and at 20:10 realizes that there is only one rnav approach at destination and is surprised about it. Ummmm, what happened to preflight briefing your destination airport. Putting the carriage in front of the horse as they say.
Who is here because of Steezy Kane!
San Marco is KHYI not KHYS.

Jon Funanich, are you or were you ever a flight instructor? If so, did you ever teach at Travis Aero Club? If so, you soloed me way back in the day. I'm still alive! Post something and i'll subscribe!
@@williamrmcintosh4343 That's me. Just checked my Logbook and I solo'd you on May 28, 1977.
I only watched this video because of the Aviation 101 connection - That being said - you lacked proper respect for Josh - To be clear - your channel is not even close to what he has for subscriptions - and yet you had the audacity to talk down to him -several times during your video I wanted to "X" out - but I didn't because I support Josh -- So I will say - best of luck to your channel - and in the future- please show some respect to a fellow you-tuber that brings over 140,000 more subscribers than you have.
Not helpful. Please give the poster the freedom to have his own personality. And there was a time when Mr. Flowers only had 3.4 k subsribers also. For all who fly and post, you have my sincere admiration (and constructive suggestions occasionally:) )
Haha, you're funny. How did he talk down to him, because I didn't see or hear any "talking down" and I was in the back seat! Plus you have 22 subs so...#CheckyourselfBeforewreckingyoself
If you can't give a fellow pilot some crap (and take it) you are taking yourself way too seriously. By the way, it's UA-cam. Who cares how many subscribers a channel has? If people were paying for the content, it would be different.
TvDirector911 - You should know that is a slow process to build up followers on this platform. Josh has been at it for 'FOUR" years now and this channel only "ONE". Josh didn't have that many follower at the one year mark either. I don't understand where did he disrespect Josh, besides, the Centurion is NOT Josh's plane. Where exactly is the disrespect ?????
Personally, I like both of them and they are "BOTH" very nice guys.
As to you, I don't know you and I'm not a Psychiatrist either, but my advice for you is ..... GO AND GET A LIFE, CAUSE OBVIOUSLY YOU DON'T HAVE ONE !!! ;0)D
Dan is my equal. He expects respect from me at the same level I expect it from him. That’s how friends work. I don’t deserve special treatment from anyone because of my subscriber count, ratings, or certs. If Dan talked down to me during this flight then I’m either oblivious or my skin is too thick to care. 😂
