1:20 I never knew how much I needed this until just now! It could be interesting bumping these two against each other during a time where Doomguy isn't geared for a fight, cuz when you think about it...
1: both are super buff. At the start of the 2016 game Doomguy was able to break thick metal chains with just his muscles and the leverage he could scrape together while flat on his back, providing a reference point for his strength without his armor factored in, while Helltaker was able to move boulders that were portrayed as being as big as him.
2: both had a tendency to kill the powerful legions of hell with their bare fists. Remember how swole the Helltaker skeletons turned out to be in the art they appeared in? Now recall how it is a *mild inconvenience* for him to kill them.
3: both have unbreakable wills. Doomguy has a bit of an advantage here since his will is canonically unbreakable while Helltaker's is simply ridiculous enough to be impossible for the legions of Hell to break.
4: both have waltzed into and then out of Hell to the utter astonishment of every authority on Hell. Helltaker has a bit of an advantage here since he by all accounts opened the portal in through a mix of testosterone and willpower while Doomguy was just able to survive the pre-existing entry and exit methods.
5: both have taken serious injuries and kept right on going. Helltaker is shown looking mildly annoyed with a knife literally sticking out of his back in one panel, while Doomguy has fallen ridiculous distances and just needed to do a superhero landing instead of a running one along with however much of the myriad attacks he receives get through his armor (we're never given a clear metric for how much the armor is functionally protecting him).
6: their moral codes are in extreme diametric opposition, one seeking out demons for love while the other seeks them out for hate, giving them a reason to fight almost on sight.
I think that Doomguy would win out from simple higher combat experience, but without the advantage of his gear it does get iffy since Helltaker made allies who have a vested interest in keeping his heart beating, including an angel whose presence might cause Doomguy to pause for a moment to process the paradox of an angel working alongside demons before concluding that the angel is in cahoots with them and setting her on the "kill list" too.
