Kristofferson is a true legend. Great songwriter great actor and a great man. His voice has suffered but that was never his strength. He wrote some of the most beautiful and heartrending songs ever. God Bless you Kris.
I don't know what age Kris is here, but today as I post this comment he's 77. His lyrics, character and life have already reserved him a place in history. My hopes are to be able to perform any song as I get up there in age (or to even live to that age). I've always had a place in my heart for writers like Kristofferson, Dylan and a few more who have opened doors for others. Without these guys the world would be minus many stars. God Bless and Peace :)
Keep playing Kris until you can't play anymore ! You're music will live forever, it speaks of life and love in a way we all experience it.. I play a lot of your music.. you were never afraid to say it like it was and is.. Play on, you are a true super star..
@@joestephan1111for me God sure used Kris to become ore real and raw in my walk with Christ; no pretence necessary just being me. And that’s enough! I don’t have to fight for acceptance!
Beautiful Song! This man will always be remembered by us song lovers, glad to see him still singing. One of the best song writers too!!! Keep Going Kris!!
I love Kris Kristofferson so much. Every time I hear his voice e on a song similar to this one, I start to cry 'cause I like it so much. You guys understand, right? :-)
We played all kristofferson at my dad's memorial. Toughest man I have ever known but had the soul of a poet. When I hear him it puts me right there with him again. People enjoy every minute you have with your old man.
Kris wanted to make his mark as a songwriter. When offered a recording deal, he replied, "Are you crazy? I can't sing". Singer/songwriters deliver better because of raw passion. Kris is a good example of this...so is John R. Cash and Willie Nelson. Thank you brother for sharing and appreciating Kristofferson's work. ~ BCK
Yes he had a very humble beginning, and it lasted about 33 years until he appeared on the Johnny Cash show. He also wrote a gospel song called Lord help me Jesus.
Yes, I do realize he is a songwriter, a great one. When it come to singing, I don't know. Even in the 70's he could not sing. All the same. It is virtually impossible to make this song sounds bad.
He may not have that pure, every note right on, voice, but really he never did. That's one of the things that makes him so endearing. He writes/sings fabulous songs straight from the heart & life experience. I'm glad to see & hear him continuing to perform. And he's still handsome.
well, for all of that, Willie is sometimes all over the place, too, both tone and rhythm, but I love him too. It's what they put into it, after all. Not how cleanly they hit the notes.
I look back down on my life time by listening to the 4 out laws of country music. These boys gave us the greatest country music in the past 35 + years and now i sit back and watch this man singing and I know he is well up there in his age still have my greatest respect because this man brought out some great songs and lyrics for me to think about even my own life struggles and I actually use some of his lyrics as a way out from under.
I love him so much, he was a helicopter pilot in the US Army and people say he landed his Army Helicopter in the garden of Johnny Cash, just to say hello and promote his songs and catch audience of Johnny Cash, which he got later in his show! Mr. Kristofferson, thank you so much for all those great songs and performance with Johnny Cash!! Best greetings out of Bavaria, Germany!! Keep on singing, people love it!!
That story is true. Cash had been ignoring his tries to catch his attention. Keep in mind, Kris is very bright. He has an undergraduate degree from West Point, and was a Rhodes Scholar when he got his Master’s at Oxford in English Literature. He was always so warm to his audience and had such fun with his co-stars.
@@sandragruhle6288, Sandra thanks! To me Kris Kristofferson is one of the Greatest People on Planet Earth. He served for his country in Vietnam as a Helicopter Pilot, which was associated with so many risks to his Life and later he gave us so many beautiful and great songs! Best Greetings and Happy New Year out of Bavaria, Germany!
I had been mourning for the old Kris and his voice. You made me stop and think about another aspect. Thank you. His life experiences are very evident in his voice.
I love the texture in his voice that time has blessed us with. I personally like his sound better now than the sound from the 70s (not that he wasn't glorious then). His version of Terpentine from Brandi Carlile's Cover Stories is another prime example of how lovely his voice is now...
Kris is a genious, love hearing him sing his songs. Only the writer can convey the feeling and the meaning of the songs they wrote. I am in awe of his genious.... Greatest song writer ever....
Kris, I grew up and grew old with you and you are more handsome today then you ever was. Keep singing from your heart there are so many that adore you.
I love this man,Warms your heart when he sings, you believe and feel the meaning of the song, not today we lost that, thank God for Artist like these,we still have a place to turn to.
Such a beautiful version of this beautiful song I first heard in the late 60's. We're both a lot older now, Kris, and know - even more - what this song means than we did then. Thank you for your beautiful sensitive heart and poetry, and for sticking it out. It ain't always easy. All Blessings
"I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the sky, aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies." Alliteration and assonance within each other with a bit of personification thrown in. It blows my mind how he can do that.
I only ever knew Kris Kristofferson as "that guy from the Blade movies". Then I saw a Drunk History episode about 'Sunday Morning Coming Down" which led me on a search for his music. It's a strange path to take to find his music, but I did and boy howdy am I glad I did. What a great songwriter.
Johnny Cash is resting in peace. You live and continue the spirit and the sound of the music. Many thanks. Do not come up with stupid thoughts. Thank you for your music. On a long life.
On this day in 1973 {June 29th} Kris Kristofferson performed "Loving Her Was Easier (Than Everything I'll Ever Do Again)" on the NBC-TV program 'The Midnight Special'... Two years earlier on August 21st, 1971 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #26 & spent 13 weeks on the Top 100 chart... Also in 1971 Roger Miller's covered version reached #28 & in 1981 Tompall & the Glaser Brothers peaked at #2 with it, both these versions were on Billboard's Hot Country chart
i never knew that. i knew he wrote EPITAPH (BLACK AND BLUE) about her, but i had no idea this was for her too...... since he recorded it in '71, a year after her death, it makes sense. one of my all time favorite songs!
He's a Giant yet such a common man just like us... Wonder who she was? I do know that all us suffered this pain of losing that one that matters and all other loves pale in comparison to that 'one'. We keep it close to our hearts just like Kris has... the eternal secrets of a mans heart. Rita never stood a chance...
What a genius songwriter this fellow is and far from a ham actor too. I love Johnny Cash singing this song, Kris did too as it made him. Willie Nelson summed Kris up one time when he said that Kris must have lived many past lives to write as if he personally experienced every word of his songs. Not a bad compliment from one songwriting legend to another I am 63 and I find ones I grew up loving are dying and I feel I must have known them personally as they are still very much part of me, Cash etc
@matthewsnare No offence, but the great American legends were only popular during the 70s in Spain, and not even THAT popular. It was only us very-die-hards who were present. It was an honour to have him in Spain in two diferent places. Never to be forgotten. He made himself available in the end for autographs and hand-shakes. A never forgotten experience. Cheers, RT
What will we do when krist and willie are gone just wonted to say love you to i am 60 so i have known. Y'll for a long time and hope GOD willing a lot longer
Kris ' descriptions of Sunday Morning hangovers was something that " decent" people couldn't, or simply wouldn't understand, was something that you had to actually live through on a regular basis, over a period of time, so that you could put yourself in someone's shoes who had been there; Kris Kristofferson became the role model of the people who chose to live with their demons, because we weren't ready to fight them yet. If you can understand what I'm trying to say, then You've been there.
I think KKK quit drinking pretty early on. Then he lost it, as far as i'm concerned. Then he found it again. PS: J R Cash and Glenn Campbell both did huge amounts of pharmaceuticals, which may shorten your productive life. PPS: King Hiram 'Hank' Williams.

This is the best version of that song. What a story the lines in his face and the depth of his voice tells. Wow!
his voice was too low

Couldn't agree more. It's the slight imperfection that makes it PERFECT.
Great performance. Great song. Lyrics are excellent. What a voice.
