Mr. Diresta, I have been following you for about 13 years. The big works you do in that small shop in the basement. It wouldn't fit in this big shop. With love from Turkey. ❤

As someone who works with pallets every day and sees the character and possibilities of the wood it was great to see you turn one into a work of usable art. Great Job.

Two of my favorite makers in one vid ❤❤❤
Just today I made a firewoodshed from old wood I had laying around for a friend with little money.
He provided food and drink and was very pleased with the results and so was I, I brought just enough wood.

Great chair. Looks good, comfortable, with no worries about resting a boot on one of the chair rungs or sitting down with a tool in a back pocket. I really appreciate your attitude toward the joinery - instead of fussing with trying to make it look professionally done, just make it work. And, the video has enough detail for us regular folks to give it a go too.

I've made several things from pallets. Crap wood to work with but fun to create with them. If you're fortunate enough to acquire some decent ones made with from some decent pine then you can make some awesome things. I just use a reciprocating saw to take them apart. Your chair is sweet! Even learned a couple things! And remember, you know the owner so you do you and how you want it. 😊

I've never built a chair for the exact reasons you describe. So much joinery and time required. Your screws will probably do the trick just fine. I had an idea though. Rather than screws, how about drill and peg it, with glue of course. Seems more traditional somehow.

biscuits, dominoes, or dowels, then glue and screw, or sorta like Laura did, glued, then run the dominoes (or dowels) from the outside in and instead of 2 plugs over screws, it 2 and a dowel or 2.
I need furniture for my house, (really a computer chair and beds is all I currently have because Bachelor with Cats) and I think a combo like this would suffice. Though the pallet wood I had went into making a 15 x 12 shed (they were REALLY big pallets of oak and Southern Yellow Pine) I have access to some decent stuff.

Jimmy, I have to say be careful on where you use pallets from. Many get reused for a wide variety of things.
I needed a piece of hardwood to make some metal shaping forms from so I grabbed an oak pallet at the local hardware store. Well.. a few days later I’ve got horrible itchy burn like lesions wherever the sawdust from that had landed on me. My Dr had never seen anything like it. Best guess was it was some chemical had leeched into the wood and led to this.
It took weeks to get over and was quite painful.
