I wanted it to be better for astro, but sadly that’s a pipe dream. Not what it was designed for! I’m tempted to track down the Nikon F-mount Nikkor 105mm F1.4, but I’m going to imagine it’s no better. But who knows, maybe I’ll be surprised. Cheers, Alan!
Haven’t used it, but my sense from the MTF data I’ve seen published by LensRentals leads me to believe it’ll be best used with lower resolution sensors. You’re probably going to get a little better performance wide open as compared to the 105mm F1.4, but it’s hard to say how the specific aberrations will manifest.
Thanks for the test. I’ve been tempted by this lens at times, but I’ll think I’ll pass! The Canon RF135mm I did buy is superb.

Would it be a good replacement to a 135 and an 85mm ?
Not for astrophotography. At least not this lens. For portraits
@@FerventAstronomy looking forward to know whats the best 85mm lens for astro !!
Me too! lol
I need to get my hands on a few to test
