    Great video We are going to South Fork with ATVs and some Honda dirt bikes. Any Suggestions where to ride? Think the loop-Alpine pass might be a little long for us....lol

    30 years ago I could drive my dirt bikes down main street, in Ouray and Telluride. No one would think a thing of it. Looks like you could use a stop light @ the top of the Mountain today.

    This was a nice drive...a little challenging on some of the turns...we did it in an F350 dually crew cab. Beautiful views.

    What radios are you using? I'm looking for some for my ride and group.

      We have some inexpensive ones from Amazon. Here’s the name: - BaoFeng BF-888S Walkie Talkie 2pcs in One Box with Rechargeable Battery Headphone Wall Charger Long Range 16 Channels Two Way Radio (2 in the box for around $25.). They have worked pretty well for us.

    Thank you for sharing, I always enjoy your videos. What do you all recommend for navigation on back road trails? Any particular gps? What do you all use.

      We have an old Garmin GPSMAP64ST and we usually just map out the next days ride on paper maps. We are thinking about upgrading the Garmin next season.

    We did that whole trip with a Subaru Forester, no big deal. We cast my daughter's cremains off Engineer Pass summit.

    which month did you do the trip ? I am going to Silverton 3rd week of Sep. thinking of trying this.

    So technically you can gas up in Silverton before you go back? There is gas in-between the 80 mile loop ? thanks

    • @BugsOnTheWindshield
      @BugsOnTheWindshield  3 роки тому +1

      I don't recall any places along the way to get fuel. We gassed up in Lake City before we left and we didn't need to refill until we got back. You can only ride on certain streets in Silverton so you can't fill up there because of the location of gas stations.

      @@BugsOnTheWindshield Not to Bug you, LOL, I have street legal Dualsport and I shouldn't a problem with that, I hope? thanks

    • @BugsOnTheWindshield

      Awesome!! If you’re street legal, I believe there is one gas station in Silverton.

    What's the earliest part of the year that you could ride the Alpine Loop?

    • @BugsOnTheWindshield
      @BugsOnTheWindshield  4 роки тому +2

      Depending on snow fall, I would say mid-June would probably be the earliest.

    The loop is a lot more fun on a KTM 300exc, we do it at least twice a year and based out of Lake City or Ouray. I almost bought a motel in Lake City.
