Royal Wolf and FRAMECAD combine to create "Factory in a Can"

FRAMECAD created this amazing 3D animation video of the Factory In A Can.
This 40 foot container was designed by Royal Wolf for Auckland steel and framework design company FRAMECAD.
This innovative mobile concept is used to build accommodation in developing countries or remote locations where there is little - or no - infrastructure. Flat steel ribbon goes in one end of the container and using FRAMECAD’s machine wizardry, it comes out the other end as precision cut outs and frames ready for construction.
Because the factory is housed inside a container, it’s also ideally suited to cope with challenging and extreme climate conditions which is why the US Navy use the factories for humanitarian construction projects in countries such as Afghanistan and Haiti.
Royal Wolf worked closely with FRAMECAD on the design of the containers. Doors at one end and on the side allow easy access for construction materials and machine operators, a heavy duty crane operates on runners inside to lift weights of up to 2000kg, and the container has a separate housing for a generator to power the factory.
