Russia started in Europe and colonized the eastern part, that is mostly uninhabited and empty, so its a European country that rules a large part of Asia, but all the main cities and most of the population are in the European part.
It is a country spread across 2 continents yes.

@@6ltk you are not contradicting what I said. Russia started as a European nation and conquered all that territory to the East. It is still a European nation. For the same reason that the United States are called an Atlantic nation, but the US border the Pacific Ocean as well, so why isn't it called a Pacific nation? Because it started in the Atlantic and conquered the West. Washington D.C. is on the eastern part of the US, the roots of the US are in the 13 British colonies etc.
The Empire of Alexander the Great ruled mostly Asian lands and Egypt that was considered part of Asia by most Greeks at the time. Greece was considered European but originally the word Europe referred to the lands north of Greece. So technically we would be right if we called his empire an Asian empire. But nobody un their right mind would describe Alexander the Great's Empire as an Asian Empire.
I could go on and on, your logic doesn't apply to anything else, it doesn't make sense in any way, Russia is a European country, period.
Then I added my own opinion, that not only it is European but today it represents the true Europe, the Europe that doesn't submit to the US. You are free to disagree with this since it is my opinion. A lot of Russians will also disagree with me, they want Russia to be an alternative to Europe as well, they want it to be it's own thing, but the fact is that most of the world compares Russia to western culture and the Third Rome and all that.
