Hate to be that guy, but...who’s watching this after finding out the singer of one of the greatest Eurovision songs ever is co-hosting next year’s contest?
Idd an excellent performance. Edsilia did not fancy working on her dance moves though....😊 I'd argue, this wax Holland's best in the last 20 years. Loved Imaani's "Where are you now" for the UK. But I remembered how terrible she performed on final's night. Based on how she performed it was unbelievable how Imaani finished 2nd. This was also the year Dana International won. That's when I realized how rigged the Eurosong Festival was. Well at least, back then the majority of singers could actually sing. Unlike today's circus slow
i was living in birmingham at the time. my housemate said that if this was in english, she would have won. i was like... the song is about how the netherlands is the best country between heaven and earth [hemel en aarde]. sidenote: 1998 was the last year where the default song language was a national language of a country.
English translation: The Netherlands was cool and chilled, most of all the weather The wind was always turbulent, as opposed to my love life What I read into your eyes lit the fire inside of me She is often underestimated, the power of nature Heaven and earth are moving when you're standing in front of me For me, this is evidence that fate does exist Heaven and earth are opening up when you're touching me I never wanted to believe in it, but there's more Between heaven and earth Black clouds are breaking on the horizon Now it's time to warm myself to the rays of the sun I've tried love before, never did it live up to expectation But then I saw the future, when I looked into your eyes Heaven and earth are moving when you're standing in front of me For me, this is evidence that fate does exist Heaven and earth are opening up when you're touching me I never wanted to believe in it, but there's more Between heaven and earth (Heaven and earth are moving) When you're standing in front of me (For me, this is evidence) Oh, that fate does exist Heaven and earth are opening up when you're touching me I never wanted to believe in it, but there's more (Heaven and earth) Oh hayah… huah… (Heaven and earth) Ahaha, ahaha, ahahahahuah… (Heaven and earth) Ah ah ah, ah… huah ah… (Heaven and Earth) Ah… (Heaven and earth are moving) When you're standing in front of me (For me, this is evidence) Oh, that fate does exist (Heaven and earth are opening up) Heaven and earth (When you're touching me) Hey… I never wanted to believe in it, but there's more Between heaven and earth
So many great songs from the competition of 1998, together with this NL entry from Edsilia, Lars Fredriksen from N, Jill Johansen from S and Edea from Fin it is hard for me to pick a favourite
Pure brilliance, sounds so much like a James Bond song which normally scores well in Eurovision and there was no doubt Edsilia would do good as everyone thought so, could've made a very worthy winner too. The Dutch were on top form during the 90s!
(Also, are the Dutch obsessed with huge high heels? First Maxine in 96 and then the lady on the right here. Probably elevating themselves a foot off the ground in those things.)
The Dutch are really not into high heels, you rarely see them in the streets. Dutch women love to wear (white) sneakers. Maxine is 1.56cm which is 15 cm smaller than the average Dutch woman, that's why she would only look good on high heels next to Franklin.
DanBdx68 I do not have a problem with these people what I mean is that we have the tendency to favour participants who are different even if others have a better song. But why you have to be rude and insulting
PC dictated that the transgender had to win... nothing to to with talent. I don't care what sexual oriantation somone has but win because of your talent.

I was!
Lol
Thats not true
@@stekiersThis was 4 years ago. Although Eurovision 2020 was cancelled, Edsilia did co-host in 2021
Probably, one of the best songs in Dutch language in Esc...
In my opinion the best is Vrede by Ruth
zeker weten !!
No it's not.. go look up andere hazes
@@CrazyBambii He never participated in the contest
@@CrazyBambii he never, ever, ever, wrote a song with lyrics this good..
Zij was voor mij de grote winnaar in plaats van Dana International! Ik heb zitten vloeken voor de televisie
The best eurovision song of all time imho. Well written, well orchestrated and brilliantly performed. Too good to win!
Best song by a country mile in 1998 in my home city. Best singer by far......
Andrew Gilham Yes, difficult to see how that didn't win
Idd an excellent performance. Edsilia did not fancy working on her dance moves though....😊

too commercial to win

En nu deed ze presenteren op Song Eurovision Festival!! Wat een icoontje 💕💕
Saw Edsilia perform this live in Birmingham. Just as stunning presenting ESC2021 twenty three years later
Her song was playing in the Ahoy in one of the semifinals and she was stunned!
The views will rise because shes going to present the Eurovision 2020
sls amg 2021.....
She did this yesterday!
I still love this entry from the Netherlands, great voice and love the little dance moves. Would love to have seen her win.
1 van de beste NL inzendingen ooit.
I watched this song on TV - and never forgot it! So beautiful! Love her voice!
Still one of my all-time Dutch fave's...❤❤❤
Still one of my all time Eurovision favourites. Greetings from England!
Het is echt knap om met een Nederlandse liedje toch 4de te worden
Nancy Van Gend deze inzending klopte gewoon helemaal
goed gezegd, Nancy
I think countries should sing in their languages. Music is music

One of the best Eurovision songs of the 90s! Great job Edsilia & The Netherlands! :D
Zukram97 together with Vrede. Both great performances, pretty similar tio
The greatest song never to have won Eurovision!
Great song and fab performer, reminds me of Ruth Jacott. And how I love the Orchestra here
She is such a sympathic person!
Omg ja deze was zo perfect.
Edsilia, forever a skinny legend
Still cannot believe she didn't win.
One my faves! Popped in my head today.Aarde/Arda.
SHE IS SO FUN I LOVE HER
She's very lovely indeed. Love her personality. And she'll will be one of the hosts of eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam.
@@TheLoesM I know I am Dutch HAHA just like you
ik ontdek dit nummer 21 jaar later. Belg hier. Wel catchy as fuck.
This is just pure class! Love Edsilia!
zucht,,,nog steeds mooi gezongen!!
Geweldige zangeres. Prachtig lied
Host of 2020!
And I am so proud
Yes I do agree
2021
I li,ed this song so much that I went to Netherlands in the summer of 1998 to buy a copy! (This is not the reason for going there on holiday!)
Finally decent quality! Thank you.
Wot a voice on this lady

This song is very..... NEDERLANDS.
GREAT song THE best
Prachtlied. ❤️🇳🇱
Tonight live from Rotterdam!!! The Grand Final..
PRICELESS
prachtige muziek
dit liedje had moeten winnen!
the best😆
At least this was... Music
And She Is Back As One Of 3 host of ESC 2020
She could easily have won. There are a lot of similarities with Charlottes 'Take me to your heaven' which did win a year later
Fandabbdozie:) douze points
Himmel und Erde...
I counted that the microphone 🎤 was switched from hand to hand 30 times. She must have slippery fingers.
Was for me at that time the REAL winner.
Happy that Greece gave 8 points to edslia. This song was clearly the winning one.Dana won just because she was repesenting a minority.
het is niet veruidert
Geweldig nummer net als Dit was de eerste keer... pareltjes...
Who ever told her to wear that dress?????
Better than Dana International ._.
The Netherlands’ Macy Gray
Like als je hier bent door Martien meiland
Pretty funny Netherlands were beaten by Dana in 1998 and Conchita in 2014 💅🏽
Aha

😂
Shite stage that year.
This should have won by a mile though.
It had to be sung by a transexual to win or someone like conchita
