      One question, is it possible to play a piece in reverse mode? I'm at the beginning of piano learning and I'm curious to know if this is possible.

      You should absolutely try to do a 1 minute, 10 minutes, and 1 hour with Mephisto Waltz. I know it's nowhere near enough time to learn that piece, but if you haven't already, that'd be a fun one to see. I noticed you had it in the background of your video and would just be interested in hearing that piece in one of your challenges.

      @@islumperisluggo1830 She's played it before, so it's probably her own recording in the background. ua-cam.com/video/iSYk_Pzyx4g/v-deo.html

    You are great ! This piece is a finger breaker ! When Schumann published it he said it was the most difficult piece of the repertoire. At that time it might have been very true. You are really great !!

    Hi Annique, What I appreciate about you is that while working you keep a good sense of humor. We all know that music and the piano are difficult for everyone. Even the 'great pianists' also have trouble, we sometimes forget that. You should always have a lot of patience with yourself and the best thing is to keep your spirits up.
    You got it right! The piano is your job, and you know how to work, that's the most important thing.
    Continue and congratulations to show how you manage to arrive, it motivates all the other musicians, pianists... and others.

    i also think different rhytms help SOO MUCH with dealing w/ hard and difficult passages. Thats so nice to see that a legit pianist also does that as i do and thinks its helpful. Also i love the background piece you choose fot yhis video. Love to see you play mephisto waltz some day, would like to listen to your interpretetion:):)

    As a Horn player, I enjoy your approach to learning a new work, especially your varying the rhythms. Some suggestions: imagine that you are singing the piece and finding/choosing the places to breathe. And, have a listen to both Gilels’ and Pogorelich’s young and mature recordings (they are on UA-cam).

    Entertaining and educational as always! To learn even the first passage of the Toccata in one hour is very impressive to me-if I tried, I would probably take me an hour to learn the first ten bars. I found it interesting that you practice hands separate, and also using different rhythms. My teacher, a retired concert pianist, recommends practicing with the different rhythms like you do, but not hands separate. I also loved the Mephisto Waltz in the background (the only problem was that the amazing playing distracted me from what you were saying). Happy Easter! 🎹🎹🐰🐰❤️❤️

  • @pvairo
    @pvairo 9 місяців тому

    For this piece the challenge should be "one hour, one month, one year"! 😂 I learnt this amazing Toccata at age 17, but I didn't feel comfortable performing it in recitals until several years later, in my mid-20s. Brahms-Paganini (both books) despite the difficulty and the length, interestingly enough didn't need as much time to make me feel comfortable with it. Some passages in this Toccata are still after decades "high risk". That was a great attempt in just one hour!

  • @tami4865

    Although you couldn't make it perfect in such a short period of time, I think this piece exactly suits your nature. I loved how the different voices clearly came out which is not always the case with other pianists. I think you should practice it for about a year, get it into a solid tempo, and make it your landmark.

    Never tried the toccata… but I‘m working on the Humoreske Op. 20 - would like to see a challenge from you with that piece ( Especially Intermezzo 126 bpm how would you solve this?!? 🙆🏻‍♂️😅 ) 🤗 With many pieces of Schumann it seems to me that his wife Clara inspired him to write technically hard music for the piano.
    I highly recommend to read Peter Härtlings Biography „Schumanns Schatten“ to get a better understanding of Roberts music.

    The only time "different rythms" helped me is when I first tackled the Chopin Fantasie Impromptu in C#m; and even then it wasn't so much a different rythm as it was a different way of looking at the given rythm: I knew I could do triplets and eight note coordination, so I started off just playing every other note in the right hand so I could get how the hands coordinated. Then I filled in the in-between sixteenth notes.

    I've spent hours watching youtube videos of every pianist who has tackled this obstacle course. The surprising thing is that only a few of them actually sound musical to my ears even though most of them hit most of the notes and that is why I think it is difficult 🙃

  • @helgebahmann4646
    @helgebahmann4646 2 роки тому +1

    The biggest issue with this "thing" is to find the sweet spot between "not practicing enough to make progress" and "developing RSI and serious finger injury", and for me that sweet spot is just too narrow. Practicing this one hour without an expression of pain in your face is already a feat.
