This was one thing I just discovered in PES (first year playing over fifa) and I love this feature. But I was going insane with players switching all over the place. You just made this game more fun for me!!!
Try this fluid formation.. Start with any formation you like with 4 at the back.. Then, in possession get 3 CBs, 2 DMs, 2 CAMs, Wingers very wide and a CF. (For having a guardiola's Inverted full back you can put your wingbacks in DM position and make your CMs play CAMs, or you can make your wingbacks push high playing as wingers and wingers being CAMs like klopp.) And when out of possession, have a 5-4-1 or 4-1-4-1 sort of formation. Guardiola usually plays with 4-4-2 and occassionally 4-3-3 . But because its a game, we need to have extra defence and hence 4-1-4-1 or 5-4-1 is crucial.
@SpoonyPizzas Football Life 2023 with Holland Gameplay Mod bro and this works really well.. i only did a few distance adjustments for obvious reasons and dunno but i thought it might deplete the team fatigue faster.. dunno.. just my 2c..
Cool video dude. I really like fluid and it works in competitive matches against my friends too. What I think is better but harder to master is using that setting where you can have 3 formations. Using the dpad to switch formations during the game.
Also, when switching, you may want to keep the position of the player, but just have another one. What you do is to hold X and move the icon of the player you want to interchange onto the icon of the player you want to change. For example, in switching Rashford with James without changing the exact point where they are up, just drag Rashford and move him onto James, so that his icon covers James' icon. Thus, Rashford and James interchange positions, but the actual positions of the RWF and LWF will not be alterated. It is a useful move to do, I do it all the time. Thanks for pointing out that, as many PES players don't know it, but this system accompanies PES since its foundation. Have a nice time.
I heavily used fluid formation in the master league ever since PES 16' but in PES 20' the cons out weight the pros using the fluid formation because of the game mechanics and the awful responsive input. I prefer the 'Switch Tactics' because it's much more reliable if you're playing in the SuperStar or Legend difficulty mode imo.
Great video, explains a lot, but what happens to the ratings of a player for example moving from LB to LM? Do they lose some stats like speed, defense etc?
When u changed rashford and James and had to fiddle with position again, if u held rashford over James to swap while holding X (to move the players position) it swaps the players only on the tactic (so rashford would go left attacking but right defending etc)
Nice video! But I am more interested in the pros and cons video of the fluid formation. And also is it negative to change an LB that is offensive fullback to a LMF knowing the style will be deactivated?
Does switching the forwards like that when in possession make much difference? What actually happens on pitch? If they are being marked then the opponents LB and RB will still follow them, they we will be playing out of position - but yes still marking, does it create space and confusion in the opponents standard average back 4?

Am somehow unable to find fluid formation with my managers. Am using Thomas Tuchel (Preuss) & Pep (Roman) . None of them are having fluid formation settings which i can turn on/off. Am in X Box. Can you guide me???
would you be willing to do a full MANAGER only master league this time where you are only the MANAGER and don't play the actually games, just use coach mode. So we can learn more about the tactical side of things. I love PES tactics but there are things that just don't work like they seem at first. Also, does TEAM SPIRIT exist in normal matches and Become a Legend even though it doesn't show it?
Fluid formation depletes players stamina especially when you change their role(LB=>LMF). So for me, that's not a good option considering Shaw has a very poor stamina rating.

See there is soo much detail in tactical side of the game in pes than Fifa. And I am a freak for tactics, thats why I prefer Pes more than Fifa..
