    The offset, followed by conform will not create perfect normals. But doing a normals transfer with the same selection used for the conform will!
    You should also use the shiny matcap MACHIN3tools supplies, instead of this one from Blender, it sucks. While at it use the Matcap Switch tool from the shading pie, to quickly toggle between your default and shiny matcap.

      Cheers boss! Yeah it actually shrinkwraps and then ntransfer closes the deal. I was pondering on this one recently and I think you were going for nurbs like workflow with bevel tools in mesh machine, right? This is as close to moi as on can get in poly workflow. Yeah the blender matcap has really poor lighting setup, I need to give machin3 tools matcaps a go.

      So doing the offset, then a normal transfer works in one less step? (Instead of choosing an offset area, properly stashing beforehand, conform then normal transfer, just normal transfer, done?)
      I find the kinda black and white matcap, too aggressive. It overwhelms my little edge counting brain, but that doesn't mean the stuff Blender has as good. I've been looking for ways to import or convert ZBrush's matcaps (same spelling so I though same stuff) but not so simple, at least for me.

      @@jeffspinner6579 Not sure I understand. Conform aligns the mesh, Normal Transfer adjusts the normals. Both would use the same stash, and both are required, although you can get away without conform, depending on the offset amount.

    • @jeffspinner6579
      @jeffspinner6579 4 роки тому

      @@MACHIN3so if the offset is small I can get away without conform first? Your answer says both you cannot forego conform and you can forego conform. I will experiment, no animation stuff for me today, just modeling and rigging.
      I apologize but, for now, your addon is complex in both paradigm and execution for me. I get the power of your addon in theory, just in application for now i get confused. Idt ppl get the true power of stashing and work flow. I dislike that confusion always proceeds understanding but I'll get it soon enough...
      Ty for responding.

      @@jeffspinner6579 Conform is less relevant for the final shading than Normal Transfer, hence why you can get away with skipping it. Normal Transfer is so powerful you can make the worst geo shade properly.

    I'll be really happy If I will be able to select an edge loop alongside n-gons with Alt + LMB with upcoming hard ops functionality in the near up version. 3:05

    • @kdeuler
      @kdeuler 4 роки тому

      just what i was thinking. in f360 i never have to deal with meshes in hard surface modeling when you do a cut. also, when you make a circle or cylinder in f360, they're drawn smooth immediately.
      maybe in blender, exposed meshes is a requirement for having fine control of an object's. appearance. but still..,

    Yesterday I ordered and installed MeshMachine (with Machin3Tool, Hard Ops and Box Cutter too) and all worked flawlessly. From today, when I stash, no Cutter folder is created (I can see the stash in the "blender files"). Any idea why? Thank you, this channel is phenomenal!

    I can't figure out with which tool you draw the new vertices onto the edges in 2:00. Machin3tools? Obviously it isn't the normal Knife tool cause the mouse pointer symbol is a bit different.
    Thanks for your great vids! This is really essential stuff.

      @@PonteRyuurui Oops, sorry, haven't seen your reply. However, now I know two ways how to draw vertices in these situations, pressing "2" to activate smart edges maybe will bring some further possibilities though. In your video about Machin3tools you have praised the "1" shortcut for merging vertices, but "2" and "3" seem to be quite good as well :-)

    I missed more of the options in the info panel that pops up, and I have to look more carefully at in the info panel does that pops up. I didn't know Machin3 had a pie menu in the camera view, and now I have to more closely inspect all the potential options in meshmachine, such that I have mo' powa given that's the whole point of these tools. Sometimes a mouse wheel scroll isn't trivial if you are using a stylus, but I use the mouse left handed if I am using the graphics tablet. Queued for future study and practice... tyvm. I'm learning that FK/IK switches on a robot arm with 6 links and a piston is more complicated than a leg, but I will solve it. Animation is no joke either, especially if you want the robot arm to dance to music _in time._ Thanks for you selection of topics you do videos on, their not common at all, and useful because of it.

      @@PonteRyuurui, I have to study, then practice, study, then practice. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what I don't know (but I know I don't know a lot).
      Turn your volume down before you listen...I went Pr, and for some reason normalizing to zero with the audio gives varying results. This time it's loud af.
      imgur.com/Gqpa3tf (In a Moment of Inspiration... do that in MoI! Thanks alot now I have to test if it's so much easier, messing with meshmachine's multi width bevels are a contrivance over nurbs modeling...)
      I thought I was reducing complexity as I learned rigging and animation, but rigging a 6 bone piston IK chain, may have been the wrong way to go. I'm having issues understanding how to get the back joint to stay still, or have the piston push the hand of the robot arm forward without moving it's older brothers.

      I've found the best way to get good at something is finding ppl that already do it well and learn from them if you can.
      When I can I always understand it's an honor to do so.
