Love seeing someone with such a similar work flow to me. I have a few hand sewing tips if you'd like them. 1) tuck your raw edges into the hem and use a whip/felling stitch to hold it in place. Looks so clean and is nearly invisible from the outside. Also they'll never frey. 2) learn the back stitch! It's very similar to the running stitch but after coming up through the fabric you go in half way back through the previous stitch. It's much stronger than a normal running stitch and historically was used on any seam that would be under tension (like a bodice) I hope these are useful and not just stuff you already know! The video was wonderful!
Pretty result & lovely personality! The next step might be utilizing a separate material to line the inner side & give it a more polished look & feel. Will hide the seams & hopefully protect them some from further fraying.
If you want to make your life a little easier you can cut the corners (lol) of the seam allowance for every corner of your pattern. Nothing complicated just cutting like a V at the seam allowance of every curve. This way when you sew the hem down you don't have the two sides overlapping. Makes it a little easier to sew and results in sharper corners. I like the idea of zip ties for bonning. Might have to play around with that myself.
The gold fabric is a Christmas tree skirt, also if you dont want to buy the proper products for punching a hole in the fabric, use a hole puncture to try it, but you should invest in proper tools, also you are the only person in the world who enjoys hand sewing. Cute job
Love this, Tia!! 😍 Also, thank you for showing me how to do the eyelet thing!! 🙈👏🏼 I’ve only used smaller ones before that you can push together with some sort of a plier, but I’ve gotten the bigger ones lately but I’ve been a bit too intimidated to try it cause I couldn’t quite understand how to do it properly 😂 but now I know! Haha 🫶🏻
amazing tutorial! I too, am intimidated by the more complicated corsets, so this one is very helpful to me!
