I liked PTX when i first heard them. I watched all the SingOff shows they were on and enjoyed the youthful energy. But then Avi left and the group seemed to go further out. I couldn't keep up. Then I watched the next season of SingOff. Home Free and VoicePlay were on that. I wasn't a fan of VP's female lead, I thought she yelled rather than sang. Along came HF and I was in love. In this video you never see even one musical instrument, and that's because they have the vocal and physical skills to provide what they need without them. Percussion done by one guy with no drum set, and other music provided by voices of the other members! Made this Doobie Brothers classic sound great yet again!

August 1972… I had spent the day installing an under dash 8-Track player and two Craig PowerPlay rear window speakers in my 1966 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. I only had one tape to play… the Moody Blues - Days of Future Past. A friend and I were leaving the next afternoon on a 4 hour trip. When he came over he grabbed his tape case (everyone had a case for their 8-track collection), his duffel bag and hopped in. We hit the road… and he mentioned that he had the new Doobies album. I had heard this song on my old tinny crackling factory stereo system and kind of liked it… but, when it came through in full blown 100watts per channel stereo bliss…. I was transfixed. Every vocal expression, change of beat and harmony came through in crystal clear ambrosia… we played that album for two solid hours… interrupted only by track changes between songs! Yeah… it was like that back then! Thanx guys you done good!!!!
Austin you really rocked this song. The music of my high school days. I feel sorry for anyone under 60 who missed this musical era. HomeFree you just amaze me with your talent. Adam was really driving that beat. 🥰🥰🎶🥰🥰
I'll be 55 in Oct. I grew up listening to 50's, 60's, and early 70's music. I didn't really discover what was "popular" until I was a Junior in HS (Class of '85). I still prefer the "oldies" and Folk music. Funny thing though, 80's music is now "oldies." Lol. Being under 60 doesn't mean we missed out if our parents had good taste in music. 🎶

Linda is it me or does Adam look more into this song than he has in a while. I know their last couple have been slower more mellow songs but he just looks soooo happy I guess is a good word for it. Maybe the bandana was full of energy or something. He always seemed to move a lot more when he wore the bandanas but this one reminds me a lot of the energy he had in songs like Land of the Free. Maybe it's just the song. Looks like Austin trimmed that scraggly ass beard. It looks so much better in this one. He always looked good with his hair and beard the way they were in When A Man Loves A Woman.
@@pennygarrity386 I've noticed that the more creative Adam gets to be, the more energy and enjoyment he seems to get from his performances. I don't know if you've watched any of the solos posted on You Tube when he uses the looper, but you can see how much he seems to enjoy creating with it. If you notice, he had some new elements in this song as well. I got the feeling he really liked this song.
@@lindanearing4710 I noticed too. I commented that I liked the new sounds he added. He just looked like he was having so much fun in this one. I'm glad it was a upbeat song. Okay, I’m sorry, I was skeptical that this song even could be covered. The original was just that good. Aaaaannnnd then you just blew me away. The Doobie Brothers (and we, their fans) should fondly shake your hand. That my friends, was just over the top. Just good art. Rocked my face off.
Yesterday on UA-cam I watched the Doobie Brothers perform this one. I haven't heard it for years - always loved it. In the video, two percussionists, and all four singers also playing guitar. Can hardly wait to see what Home Free does with this.
Oh My Gosh - listen to Adam doing all that percussion, plus so many other sound effects, including that interesting wail. Adam, you are incredible! I loved the Doobie Brothers, but you guys were absolutely amazing and completely true to the feel of the piece. Plus, I could actually understand all the words!

Adam Rupp - damn son that was some kick-ass percussion! You guys never cease to amaze me, another cover that blows the original away! This is a great one for the concert start or finish or encore - just play it live OK?! Def one of my favorites! 💛🎶💛
What about this song: I Can't Hear Nothing But The Blues by Albert King, collaborate with Geoff from Voiceplay for his undertone harmony using subharmonic for the Bassline and Kevin Oulsa from Penatatonix for his vocal with the high harmony with Austin Brown, Rob Lundquit, Adam Chance definitely Tim Foust will take full lead.
If they can perform this live I would be stunned. Even if they loop the beatboxing for some of the parts ,the doo doos or the guitar impression I would totally okay with that. If they would do this their concert would turn more into a party than they already become.
Totally Awesome!!! They put their minds to it they simply can sing anything and do it exceptionally well. They cannot be boxed in as a Country vocal group, they bring it to each genre they pursue............ Go Home Free!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎
Saw this via Patreon first and was blown away. Austin's vocals are soaring and amazing, the harmonies are solid and add so much, the bass is amazing and the beatboxing and sound effects are completely blowing me away on this, even knowing what Adam Rupp is capable of. *applause* to you guys.

Guys are you kidding me. Way to rock that song. New sounds coming from Adam. That was one of my favorites growing up, and y'all brought new life to it. So awesome
Once again I'm blown away by a HF song. Austin's vocals always impress me but he conveys both power and utter joy here--outstanding. The harmonies are fantastic as always. And Adam? Every time I think he's reached the absolute top of his craft, he somehow builds a staircase and goes higher. His percussion here is...I don't even have words for how good it is except that for the first time in a while, I really did have to remind myself that this is ALL vocal, no instruments. Wow. Still hoping for a cover of The Doobie Brothers' "Black Water" though...
What about this: Kiss me or Not by Thompson Square, collaborate with Mitch Grassi from Penatatonix I definitely want him to use his some 2nd and most 3rd and 4th octave from him, Geoff Will used subharmonic undertone for the Bassline, For the high harmony by Austin Brown, Rob Lundquit, Adam Chance, Tim Foust.

Those are the ones I like best and the ones they seem to enjoy making the most. I just sent a friend of my from Florida down the HF rabbit hole. LOL
@@pennygarrity386 yes!!! more Home Fries!!
@@pennygarrity386 : about this song for Home Free: Your Body's Here with Me (But Your Mind's on the Other Side of Town) by The Ojay’s, full lead by Adam Chance, collaborate with Lyane Stein from Voiceplay just his vocal to be part of the rest of the harmony with Austin Brown, Rob Lundquit.
Home free you did it again.knocked it out of the park.
Truly amazing.
Thank you, Home Free
I wont say that the Doobies were my favorite group, but they did have several really good songs.. This was one of them!
You all did a wonderful job. great memories from this song.
It will be a a lot of fun see you doing this music on shows!
Please come to Brazil 🇧🇷😉
Hello 👋
Wow! Absolutely spectacular! Love y'all!
Ditto on finally understanding the words!😂👍🏻
What about this: Our Love by Tower of Power, definitely want Adam Rupp to take full lead, collaborate with Kevin Oulsa from Penatatonix as 2nd beatboxer, Eil Jacobson from Voiceplay with the high harmony with Austin Brown, Adam Chance, Rob Lundquit.
Yes, YES!!!I I'm Singing out loud (scared my kitty and puppy) Baby boys!!! Come on...this old lady can't take much more, lol! Or, maybe I NEED this...A LOT MORE!!! Y'all keep me dancin' and prayin' and believing in joy, and hope!!! 🤗 Y'all, seriously, just ..."Listen to the Music"...❤
I’m really impressed with your comment, if you don’t mind friendship were are you from?
Adam Rupp - damn son that was some kick-ass percussion! You guys never cease to amaze me, another cover that blows the original away! This is a great one for the concert start or finish or encore - just play it live OK?! Def one of my favorites! 💛🎶💛
Sounds more like a warm-up song, to bring one in for the rest of *what's to come*. 🤔🤫😇🙏👍
@@cruzinsweetsntreats : maybe, your right. 🤯
Hello Nice to meeting you here
I’m really impressed with your comment, if you don’t mind friendship were are you from?
Every time I think you guys can’t top yourselves - you do!!! Love it, Love It, LOVE IT!!!!
Y'all rocked this one!! Well done!
If they can perform this live I would be stunned. Even if they loop the beatboxing for some of the parts ,the doo doos or the guitar impression I would totally okay with that. If they would do this their concert would turn more into a party than they already become.
by far the best acappella group on this planet ! ! !
Absolutely fantastic!!!! Can't wait to see them perform this live.
What makes a good Friday a great Friday when Home Free drops gold start the weekend off with a smile
Totally Awesome!!! They put their minds to it they simply can sing anything and do it exceptionally well. They cannot be boxed in as a Country vocal group, they bring it to each genre they pursue............ Go Home Free!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎
It's the air drums while Adam "boom boom boom dah dah tsss" for me!
Hello Laura, How are you doing today?
We get it you have patreon😂🔥
Totally agree they are all amazing and this cover of Listen to the Music has blown me away too!!
@@Armandjansen993 Less "hey, I have Patreon!" than "these guys deserve support and hey look, if you wanna support them on Patreon you can get previews of videos along with other stuff."
Those Bassline, so impeccable without error and replay broken. If you so inclined I will tell you two vocal range that I have: first range: C#1- A5, register used: chest, growl, chest fry, subharmonic, second range: C3- A4, register used: head, mixed, Chest.
HOLY SHIT!!!!! Guy's!!!! That was just freaking phenomenal!!!!!! That was just unbelievable!!!!! Mr. Rupp!!!! Sweet mother of Jesus!!!! You are not human. There is no way that you are. WOW!!!! You guys killed this.
Most excellent rendition of a great Doobie Brothers hit. Y'all have done another great song ❤️❤️❤️
Austin's voice just exudes pure joy in this song.
So good! One of my favorite Doobie songs!
Really good song, hope you're having a great day too
I'm in love with you guys! Your voices and harmonies are outstanding, but what really blows my mind is that your instrument and drum players have neither instruments or drums! That's simply hot human! LOL Much love for all of you. XO
Hello Lynn how are you doing indeed the instrument and drum play was from Adam I do love the harmonies a lot
Awesome. The song reminds me of when this was popular in high school. Excellent & well done guys!!
As I’ve said before, “Home Free does each and every cover BETTER than the original artist!” My first introduction to Home Free was Ring of Fire. I still listen to Home Free’s rendition and get goose bumps.
And regarding Pentatonix… Home Free kicks their asses. Not to be mean, just driving that point Home er Free!!!!
Excellent choice guys! Probably my favorite Doobie Brothers song, and a great message to share.
Thank you, Home Free, for covering a classic songs by one of my all-time favorite bands: The Doobie Brothers! You guys rocked "Listen To The Music". The lead vocals, harmonies and beatboxing were awesome!
Well that's going on repeat straight away! Great performances all round but did somebody give Adam an extra espresso cos oh my word that was brilliant. Love it!!!
I know what Adam is capable of and I still am mind blown when I see and hear him perform. He's mesmerizing.
I’m really impressed with your comment, if you don’t mind friendship were are you from?
Guys are you kidding me. Way to rock that song. New sounds coming from Adam. That was one of my favorites growing up, and y'all brought new life to it. So awesome
The boys do it again!!! Anyone surprised? Love, love, love it.
Do you any idea for them to do? Do you want to have new medley? I pick: decade country music medley.
Hello Sharon, How are you doing today?
,not surprised. Love them and listen to them all the time. Fantastic job
I’m really impressed with your comment, if you don’t mind friendship were are you from?
Once again I'm blown away by a HF song. Austin's vocals always impress me but he conveys both power and utter joy here--outstanding. The harmonies are fantastic as always. And Adam? Every time I think he's reached the absolute top of his craft, he somehow builds a staircase and goes higher. His percussion here is...I don't even have words for how good it is except that for the first time in a while, I really did have to remind myself that this is ALL vocal, no instruments. Wow.
Still hoping for a cover of The Doobie Brothers' "Black Water" though...
Hello Vicky how're you doing?
What about this: Kiss me or Not by Thompson Square, collaborate with Mitch Grassi from Penatatonix I definitely want him to use his some 2nd and most 3rd and 4th octave from him, Geoff Will used subharmonic undertone for the Bassline, For the high harmony by Austin Brown, Rob Lundquit, Adam Chance, Tim Foust.
It helps in a studio version that they can layer the voice of Adam's beatbox.
lol, I just said the same thing tonight in this very thread!!
Wow! Black Water would be awesome by Home Free!!
Ok, I really had my doubts on covering the Doobies, but, with Adam Rupp laying down the drum beat, its good. Really good.
What I love about Home Free are their videos for each song they do whether an original or a cover.
@Rob Lundquist yes I am. I became a fan when your group was on the TV show for Acapella groups.
I'm thrilled because "Listen To The Music" has been my favorite song of all time, so naturally I'm stoked! If any A Capella group can do it justice, it's my favorite guys, HOME Free!
What other favorite songs? For Home Free to do. My songs request for them to do: Eye on You by Chase Rice, Adam Chance will take full lead.
They sure did!.
Just watched the video and the boys outdid themselves. Great Job! Also the sound production by Mr. Darren Rust (The unofficial sixth member of the group) did a fantastic job as well and as always. Mr. Rust doesn't get enough credit IMHO. A final note... Adam Rupp... outstanding percussion effects with a new two or three more fun sounds I hadn't heard yet! Oh and listeners... PLEASE use your headphones. You'll see why when you do! LOVE THESE GUYS!!!
@@Ur4chun8 Darren takes the beautiful gem that is Home Free and shines and polishes it until it's a precious jewel.
I mean the guys are so good but Darren is the magic behind the scenes! You are so right Linda.
