There is not a bad song on this album in my opinion this is his second best album his best being Love It to Death, all of Alice Cooper albums are great though.
A great opening track to a great album! "Killer" is one of his best albums. This is with the original band. Back then "Alice Cooper" was the bands name. They were the best band Alice ever had. Their essential albums are - "Love it to Death", "Killer", "School's Out" and "Billion Dollar Babies". All are hard rock classics!
So many great Alice Cooper stories. One of my favorites is when the band was looking for their first recording contract, Frank Zappa was interested in signing them and went to watch them perform at a club in So Cal. The audience basically walked out in about three minutes. Frank responded with "anyone who can clear a building that fast, I gotta sign." 🤣
I bought this album when it came out in November 1971, early in my senior year of high school. I played the hell out of this record, and now every time that I hear this song, I also hear my late father yelling at me to “turn that crap down!!!”. Oddly enough, he and my mother gave me headphones for my stereo that next Christmas. Thanks for the great music and memories!
One of my favorite Alice songs is "No More Mr. Nice Guy." If you want to know why they matter, a live performance of "Welcome to My Nightmare" sets the stage for live performances to come.
Love me some Alice. Bob Dylan called Alice one of the most underrated song writers in modern music. Alice invented shock Rock and he's also an excellent musician.
@@benmurphy7654 Screamin' Jay Hawkins did it first. I stand corrected. Cooper is known as the King of shock Rock. I just checked out Arthur Brown, wow he's got a great voice but his band is terrible and uncreative .. it's a mismatch. I'm just quoting Dylan from a Far Out Magazine interview, I re-referenced it and it seems John Lennon was a big fan of the band.
@@alphajava761 Screamin’ Jay Hawkins did shock rock types of things and he influenced it for sure. His music is more R&B and blues than rock. I think talking trash about Vincent Cranes ability is kinda laughable.
In addition to opening the Killer album, this song also opened the concert the first time I saw Alice Cooper in the late 70's. Amazing, almost Broadway style stage show with tons of props and dancing extras, Alice is a master showman, and a damn fine singer. And his band is um... KILLER!
Alice said he went to see an Elvis show, and Elvis was told Alice was there, and wanted to meet him and had him come back to meet him. He said the first thing Elvis said, you're the cat with the snake. That's cool man, I wish I thought of that. I just thought I'd share that. Yeah. Peace
Hey Chod , not many people react to Alice. He and the original Alice band are amazing. Try out a song called....Ballad of Dwight Frye.. From the album called...Love it to death. You will be surprised bud. Keep listening. Stay safe.
There is only one entity who could ever successfully invent perform campy showtunes for the rock n roll medium. This is why Vincent Furnier remains unsurpassed.
Love It To Death, Killer, and School's Out are three incredible albums from start to finish.... you should listen to the "Ballad of Dwight Frye"... one of the kings of Glam Rock who helped put an end to the whole "hippy" thing, and a hero to the later old school punk rockers.... Johnny Rotten was a huge fan and so were the Ramones
Alice actually has a very surprising range within his catalogue, even though first and foremost he's a rock 'n' roller. A long dive worth taking in depth.
Thank You! I've been waiting for someone to do some reactions to Alice Cooper for years. His early 70s music is great. "Eighteen" "Alice" and many others. Please do a couple more of this truly unique artist. His concerts were legendary.
You need to do some live Alice... he's very dramatic! He started out in Detroit and I grew up in Toledo. We saw Alice about every 2 months as he was getting started. Always an amazing show!
So glad you are doing these Alice Cooper reactions. After you are done with "Killer" try "Love it to Death" especially my favorite "The Ballad of Dwight Fry". Dwight was the actor who played Renfield in Dracula with Bela Lugosi. He was also Fritz in "Frankenstein.
Glad to see you diving into the older stuff and the deeper tracks. Definitely keep diving in. Check out "Gutter Cats VS the Jets" and The Ballad of Dwight Fry"
There are a few really good live videos of this era Alice from Old Grey Whistle Test. This and I'm Eighteen are two of them. I think Black Juju also, but that is more obscure.
Finally someone who reacts to Alice Cooper. I love the dramatic theatrical performances of him. I hope you can react to some live performances that won't be blocked. I'm happy that many people now discovered Meat Loaf, my favourite theatrical singer - along with Alice Cooper. Some videos got blocked, some didn't. I think you just have to try one, maybe blur it out or something like that when they won't let you show it. Both of them are definitely worth hearing AND watching.
Vince was definitely no Freddie Mercury, but his voice worked. "Under My Wheels" is a great song, maybe the best on "Killer". Top three on this album: "Under My Wheels", "Desperado", and "Dead Babies". All three are at different tempos, all three very musically interesting. Dead Babies was controversial in its lyrics, but its a musical indictment of child abuse/neglect. If you're looking for '"that's sick" in Alice Cooper music, listen to "Cold Ethyl" on "Welcome to My Nightmare". Its a great song, with no meaningful, societal messages hidden in its lyrics. "If I live to ninety seven, she'll still be waiting in refrigerator heaven" . . . there's really no spinning your way out of that one.
Next must be Halo Of Flies. Alice Cooper earlier albums were great, great musicians. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any live videos that give this sound, the sound system on live videos wasn’t that good back then: stick to album versions. Produced by the great Bob Ezrin, who did some Pink Floyd, Kiss, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, etc
There is not a bad song on this album in my opinion this is his second best album his best being Love It to Death, all of Alice Cooper albums are great though.
Agree 💯!
Great Reaction.YES more Alice Cooper👍❤️✌️🌼
this vocal is absolutely outstanding
This lineup is the greatest pure rock 'n roll band ever.

" Muscle of love " is great too .
@@rainbowdeep9234Muscle of Love is so good. Hard grooves and outstanding playing.
So many great Alice Cooper stories.

Older Alice is the BEST! I would love you to check out "Generation Landslide" from the Billion Dollar Babies album, great harmonica solo!
Yes The Classic Lineup !!
@@loudog2326 I feel alot of bands were better in the 70's; Alice, Aerosmith, KISS....just a few.
Old time Alice is so much fun, excited to see you looking into it. For my money, Dennis Dunaway is one of the most underrated bass players out there.
Spot on. Sometimes kicking back and focussing on the bass is the way to go
Welcome to My Nightmare is a classic
I bought this album when it came out in November 1971, early in my senior year of high school.

We are cut from the same cloth brother. Getting old is kinda cool too. I thought it would be the worst thing ever.
Michael Bruce was the key songwriter in the Alice Cooper Group

Love Alice's gritty rock vocals. Perfect.
YeS!!! Great choice great song. I wore out that LP!

Alice Cooper a Detroit boy Who’s daddy was a preacher. I live here just south of Detroit And grew up listening to Alice And what a treat it was.
Wow! You can really hear The Beatles' influence in this song by Alice.
you do?
@@captainmoretokin2172 oh yes, some of their harder stuff.

Halo of Flies and the title song Killer are the best songs on the album.
Chod likes transitions in music and Halo Of Flies certainly has that.
Seen"Billion Dollar Baby","Welcome to my nightmare"and "Special Forces"tour all were awesome, thanks 🏹😎
The band! Crushing it. Thanks for this, Chod!
Alice Cooper is my favorite artist of all time he lives here in Phoenix Arizona
The OG Alice! The grandaddy of shock rock. Fun fact: Alice was my 'go to' Halloween costume for many years when I was younger lol
I bought the albumJUST for this song. Pleasantly surprised.
It's about time you got around to Alice Cooper. I love this album. It takes me back to my high school days.
I wonder if I was the only one to get flushed when I opened my School's Out Album and saw those white 'panties' on the record?
When I was in Jr. High in the 70's, only the "bad boys" listened to Alice Cooper.
Great live band, very theatric. Alice's "School's Out" great one.
Thanks for playing Alice Cooper not many react to love it older lps
"Billion Dollar Babies" is my favorite of his -- it's got a groove.
The version on the Alice Cooper show is fire! The guitarists in that band, Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner were incredible!
Alice actually has a very surprising range within his catalogue, even though first and foremost he's a rock 'n' roller. A long dive worth taking in depth.
I was 11 years old when I bought this album been rocking eversince im 61 and I still love this try dirtydiamounds live from Wacken AlohA

A vastly under appreciated song. My favorite from Alice.
Cold Ethel

Glen Buxton on guitar never really gets his due outside of guitar nerds and AC fans.
This album is so good. My favourite of the
“ early “ years.
Glen used a old beat up amp, that is why his sound was so unique. iGlen played with a band Called Virgin after he left Cooper. Those are my homies.
@@EdwardVodika Thanks for the info. His work on Killer made me an instant fan. You Drive Me Nervous is straight fire on the frets.
One of the Greatest albums, Period.

Great AC cut. I believe the bassist, Dennis Dunaway wrote this cut. Alice was so diverse in sounds

Alice Cooper Killer is a Killer album.

can you do a reaction to Child of the Novelty by Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush
Your mic could be a little louder.
