    My FIRST car review! After years of considering and months of anxiety-inducing waffling on whether to make the leap or not, it's here! Please let me know what you think, and any positive criticiism is apprecaited!
    Specifically I'm going for an 'everyperson' view of a car. How it looks, is it comfortable, and does it motivate forward well.... Do y'all love that I don't get hung-up in the weeds of HP and torque and the stats or do you want to see more of it?

    My 2013 Accord only has 50K on it, so I decided to invest in it rather than buy a new car.. Pricey new wheels, Michelin tires, some body work, detailing, and suddenly it is... a new car. Wow. Was going to replace the head unit but then realized the sound is nice as it is. The Gen9 engine is supposed to be good for 200K miles. Hang onto yours!

      I bought a 2013 accord EXL four-cylinder at the end of 2021 with only 40,000 miles at Carmax. I’m about to hit 70,000 miles and she hasn’t given me any trouble so far. I put new refurbished wheels on, tinted the windows, put body moldings on the sides, and had the dealership put a winged spoiler on my trunk. I even have WeatherTech mats in my car and I got the accord mat at the dealer for my trunk! Once I pay off my car, I’m gonna hang onto it for dear life until I can’t drive it.

    I’m one of your first subscribers, you’re definitely on your way! Great review. I love reviews about every day cars that are normal work horses for an every day person like me lol! I take care of my mother so I needed to get rid of my SUV so I traded it to a new Chevy Malibu last April. Mom can now get in my vehicle with minimum assistance. I’ve got a 1987 Volvo 740GLE with a five speed. I love a stick shift! That car is a tank, it has the 2.4 liter red block engine and it’s a one owner Atlanta car, no rust! 253,000. Miles and runs great but I did have everything under the hood redone. I also have a 1993 Lincoln Town car with 73,000 miles on it. It’s in a local garage getting everything replaced! It’s been in the shop since November 2020. My partner also has a 2018 Kia Stinger GT2. Too much info but I just wanted to share. Happy New Year! And a great first review!
    Prior to my 2020 Accord, I owned a 2013 Sport in Crystal Black pearl with the 6-speed manual. I absolutely loved the looks..classy describes it perfectly. I actually preferred the height of this old model…the newer model is much lower which makes entry and exit a little more difficult. And I miss the feel of the naturally aspirated 2.4L engine. These have a great ride and handling….felt almost like a budget sports sedan. I traded mine to get more of the safety and infotainment features. As much as I enjoy the ‘20, there was something special about this generation and a big part of me misses it.

      Almost exactly how I feel. If my Accord disappeared and I had to go buy a new one, it'd be a new Accord.... but they *feel* smaller to me and noticably lower. Excellent in all things, but this gen I have just strikes me as special.

    Great video you did an excellent job of presenting the features of the car and showing your likes and dislikes. It’s hard to pick on Accords and Camrys for their overall quality extending over the last 3 decades. I have owned an Accord from the early 90s and a Camry from the early 2000s. They both were more than reliable and excellent to drive. Today I would probably go with a Camry if I would have to choose. I do prefer a SUV over a standard car because of having a higher driver platform as well as the additional cargo room. I look forward to seeing more car reviews from you in the future. Have a Happy New Year 🍾

    Excellent start to reviewing cars. I certainly look forward to more. I agree, the horror stories about the early Jatco CVTs Nissan used(/still uses?) certainly colored my opinions about CVTs, but my mechanic friends say they aren't horrible now, but you do need to religiously service them. I am very intrigued by the electric motor and planetary gear CVT setup modern hybrids use, but have no clue yet as to how durable they are. My last two vehicles both lasted well over 200,000 miles and my present 2010 CR-V is at 180,000 (it will be Jr. Minion's first car when he gets his driver's license). Perhaps a future review of yours will give me some ideas for my next vehicle? That's at least a year out, maybe more, depending upon when the market decides to come back down to Earth.

      Thanks for the kind words, and I love the phrase "Jr. Minion"! :)

    Good review John. The LX and Sport models are also my picks because it has a more simple audio system and doesn't have the complicated dual screen infotainment system that the higher trim levels have. The infotainment system on the 2018-up Accord is a much more better system in my opinion.

    • @AllCarswithJon
      @AllCarswithJon  2 роки тому

      Thanks! I agree, I didn't love Hondas experiemnt with the dual screen system. The one in this accord is adequate - it's a bit fussy to connect to bluetooth, it's very basic, but it does exactly what I need.
      I am craving a car with Apple carplay, and it's amazing to see how an infortainment system only 7 or 8 years old feels like the stone age now.

    Great video. Fellow 2014 owner here. I love this car so much I'm going to keep as long as I can because I just don't think newer cars will give as good reliability and value. I agree road noise is loud in this car- I just put Michelin Pilot Sports from Costco on, never heard things so quiet. Give them a try! You covered the starter well, that is an absolute weak spot of this model but not a difficult fix. In the same category with this car is the cam chain tensioner (rattle noise on cold start) and ABS module failure (multiple warning lights on dash).

      I've had multiple patches done the past few years, and each time the tire pressure warning has just gone away. My previous car it went away after you got the pressures balanced correctly, as have several other cars I've seen.
      I've been frustratingly chasing getting the pressures in all 4 tires to match literally for weeks after having a patch put on.
      I had NO IDEA there was a magic button I could press to recalibrate. None. No clue.
      Apparently it's been pressed before during tire patches and wasn't this time, and i had no idea it didn't reset when the pressures were correct.
      You're a God-send today. My tires weren't losing pressure, all matched, and that friggin' light wouldn't go away! It was driving me NUTS!

    Great review. I’ve driven this model and although I like it it seemed like a step back from the prior generations interior wise. We had a 7th generation and the 8th and 9th seemed to bring lower quality plastics and to have lost the vault like feel inside and in its place came more road noise. Still great cars but just didn’t live up to our expectation of that 7th generation. We have owned lots of Hondas and the blue tooth or using a cord especially using android auto and apple car play is inconsistent and glitchy, it’s a shame and frustrating. I have a 2012 Accord Coupe V6, same generation. My advice is to avoid the V6 with its VCM issues. It took my engine out in November 2020 I replaced the engine and kept it. Love the way it looks and drives. I immediately bought a very low mile 2017 Coupe V6 while the '12 had the engine replaced. The 2017 is my 7th Honda in 30 years. Sadly, it's probably my last. I decided that Lexus is now "my speed". I decided that I want a much quieter, more plush ride and the ES350 suits me.
    I still have a muscle car and a sports car so, if I feel the need for speed, I have it.

    I own the 2014 v6 coupe version of this car. It is hands down the best car I have ever owned, and it is my 6th car. The car is simply anything you want it to be. It is a daily driver with its excellent economy, a sports car with its 280 hp, and a cruiser with it's sunroof, comfy leather seats and infotainment. To modernize the car, I installed an alpine after market stereo with a touch screen for the Apple Carplay feature. This makes it feel like an absolutely modern with no 2023 model having anything on it.

    2010 Accord LX-P Sedan, turned in with around 215,000 miles for a 2021 Accord 2.0T Sport Sedan
    2021 Accord 2.0T Sport which is my current daily driver, wife drives the CR-V
    The 21 (so far) is probably the 2nd best car I have ever owned. The 98 CL is absolutely the best car I have owned /leased and I probably should have kept that Instead of turning it in. Turned it in and leased a 2001 E46 BMW 330xi which will be probably go down as the 3rd best car I have had. Don’t get me wrong, the BMW was a fun car to drive and definitely makes a statement when you arrive in one but reliability was no near the regular Accords let alone the CL.
    Like you, all of our 4-cylinder Accords have gotten around 29 MPG in combined city / highway driving with mid 30s in pure highway travel The V6 powered CL was probably mid 20s combined and low 30s in pure highway travel.

Biggest problem was that it was the “replacement” for the Legend Coupe and that is a hard act to follow. 3 years and it only visited the dealer for routine maintenance. Had a “decent” Bose sound system. Nice interior. The 3.0L V6 would go like hell. A very nice personal luxury coupe. They have both held up exceptionally well over the years and are very reliable and enjoyable to drive. I really think Honda nailed it with this generation Accord!
    P.S. You mentioned you're not sure what the Econ button does. I am currently alternating between Econ on and Econ off to test Econ out. In my experience, Econ dulls the throttle response (just a little, not by much) and makes the car feel a little more sluggish. Also, as you mentioned, it weakens the A/C fan speed. As far as MPG, so far I am noticing little to no increase in fuel economy with Econ on vs. Econ off. Just my 2 cents and your experience may be different.

    I own a 14 Accord LX (base model) with the 6 speed manual. Bought it new, 210,000 miles. I'm keeping it until I can't drive. The 6 speed is great. I didn't think the noise is bad, but I buy expensive tires which help.

      Well, Honda's aren't known for focusing on noise reduction (in the past) so the Accord was always noiser than the Camry, for example.

    My mom had a 2017 Accord EX 2.4L in Modern Steel Metallic with the Gray cloth interior and the only complaint we got out of that car was the seats. Other than that the car was great, spacious, a little peppy and had an okay user interface.

    • @AllCarswithJon
      @AllCarswithJon  2 роки тому

      Mind if I ask what about the seats were a complaint? Personally I find they may be a *touch* firm, but they're large, well shaped, and supportative.

      Completely agree. I know auto journalists love, LOVE to hate on CVTs, but the best ones fade away where you never notice them.....and this Accord does just that.
      If I was taking it to a track I'd feel different, but for an everyday car, it's more than adequate.

    Also, the Toyota Camry is a good car. Camry is a little more boring, but the new model is more stylish. Toyota engineers have figured out how to make their cars quieter.

    • @AllCarswithJon
      @AllCarswithJon  2 роки тому

      I have a high opinion of the Camry and feel the decision for most people between the Accord or Camry is down to taste and preferences. While Toyota has always made the Camry quieter, the Accord feels lighter and slightly more 'sporty'... or at least nimble.

    I love this exact car in this exact color...if I ever find a decent one for not a crazy amount of money (it's surprising what 10 year old Hondas go for these days), I'll likely buy one. I love the aesthetics and it just looks clean to me. Hands down better-looking than the next generation one IMHO. But, I won't pay what is generally the asking price for one of these bad boys these days.

    google 2013 Accord Sport and Car and Driver to get the review published OCT 18, 2012 - the Accord Sport model w/ dual exhausts and 6sp manual is the one to get w/ more horsepower and torque - 0-60 in 6.6 and better hwy mileage than the cvt - problem is that the 6sp is rare and demand makes it more expensive but it's a Honda manual so it will perform and last forever

      I absolutely still own this car! And I still feel as strongly (if not more-so) that it's possibly the best used car you can buy.
      My complaints are really nick-picky. Depending on what you're wanting in a car, drive one first of course. Truly I love it 99%, but once in a while I wish it was quieter. Just a touch quieter.
      Other than that, it's been great. Good luck with your search!

    Hello guys i have a Honda accord exl 2014 here in Lebanon in the middle east, its imported from usa a year ago
    When i bought the car it was 107k miles now its 115k miles
    I had a problem with a crank sensor the car didnt start at all, i bought the crank sensor from Honda dealer ship in Beirut , it cost 88$ the original one made in japan
    I installed it in my friends garage and gave him only 5$ the car started and everything is ok
    Here in lebanon car parts and car repair parts are cheaper then the united states!
    I changed the oil and i put 0w20 liqui moly fully syntethic made in germany, i put 4.5 litrs! i drove 1000 miles only and the oil level on the dipstick is very low
    Its below the minimum
    What does that mean guys?
    Please someone answer
    My engine sounds good and runs good and there is no oil leaks!
    What should i do?😢

Last week my wife and I were talking and I said something about how much I can get for my Accord if I trade it in and what the price of the maverick and the payment would be (blahblahblah)..... she stopped what she was doing, looked at me, and said "we're not getting rid of that car." We've BOTH regretted the Hondas in the past we've gotten rid of and she wants to keep this.

    Great review! I agree with @suzaku3573 below, If you didn't mention that this was your first review, folks would not have noticed. You did a great job! I currently have a 2017 Honda Accord V6 Touring, which I really love. I wanted to get the last V6 Honda Accord model available, "no regrets". When it was time to purchase a car for my youngest son, I had two main concerns: 1) safety and 2) reliability, so I gave him a choice between a Toyota Camry and a Honda Accord, (both great vehicles). He chose the Honda Accord, 2013 LX model. I was very impressed with the 2013 Accord, it does everything well, safety, reliability, ride quality, comfort, features etc. no issues at all. As you mentioned, most folks would never know that the car has a CVT transmission if they were not told. I found no issues at all. The transmission in the 2013 Accord 4 cylinder works smoothly and flawlessly in my experience. Of course it's not a sports car, but the handling and performance does give it a bit of a sporty feel. I look forward to many years of good performance and would recommend the 9th generation Honda Accord to anyone looking for a reliable used vehicle. Take care! 👍🏼
