      These movies and the directors behind them are briliant at giving short lines that give you more understanding of the character than some more serious dramas do in 30 minutes, same goes for performances, Robert Downey Jr. shows he's entire emotional spectrum in a single scene, something he can not do in any other "serious" film like the Judge for example.

    That's why I love Mark's reviews. He recognizes that he's not particularly into the genre but doesn't let it jeopardize his judgment. Some people think that just because it's a super hero or any other type of movie outside of the indie/art realm is not worth the shot. Yes, there is a lot of garbage especially within blockbusters but some of them are really well made and entertaining.

    • @lwaves
      @lwaves 5 років тому +33

      Sometimes films can be made to be thought provoking, teach you something or get a message across. Sometimes they can be made to make you laugh or cry. Then sometimes they can be made purely to entertain, for fun and the thrill of excitement. All are equally valid and only the arrogant elitists think otherwise.

    Personally, I loved all three acts. Of course there are some problems that could be picked apart if you sat down and plotted the whole film out, but I think the problems in the film are small enough (and explained away quite well) that you can look past them and see what the film is doing. The final act is something you can see coming, but it's the genre trope, and instead of just doing the trope, the filmmakers use the trope to the bests of their advantage.

    I thought the world "decimate," literally translated from Latin to " taken a tenth," meaning that if there had been an attempted mutiny or similar activity where you might want to punish a large number of people whom you can't afford to just execute then you could decimate that legion so that regardless of rank or any other external factors every soldier is given a one in ten chance of being executed. It's surprising how forcing a group or team of people to have to execute a random selection of their number by their own hand can strike so much terror into such hardy individuals as you'd likely find amongst such folks.

I don't know, I rather loved the difference (again, not seeing all of Civil War) that Infinity Wars had, because the ending was such an unexpected one, at least if you didn't know there was going to be a follow-up movie. I believe I knew there was going to be another movie, but the ending even surprised me, and it seemed like they overdid it at the time.
