Thank you Andrea it means a lot when viewers are happy to watch my content and yes the greenhouse can only get better so thanks for spending your time watching and commenting it really is appreciated.
Very enjoyable video Mick, you've certainly got a variety of blooms to share with us. My bonplandii has a flower spike, yippee! I'm already on the same wavelength as you regarding the strength of the sunlight 😉 Have you started to fertilise your massies, mine will be fed next week beginning of every month, all other waterings are plain rain water. Thanks Mick and have a good weekend 👍
Many thanks Margaret, yes I've started feeding as soon as I see new growth appearing I start adding feed but tend to use just water in winter. I'm putting the lower shade cloth up in the morning as a starting point. Happy Growing and have a great season.
Very nice Mick and that Hirtzii finally triggered me. I am now the owner of a Glandulosa(to replace the fragrant Eon I killed), a Jelly Belly(the closest I could come to Hirtzii shape and size), and an Othello(love the tubular blooms). Seems I like the Saltatrices...a new term for me. If you have any experience with any of these or their parents... please let us know.
Glandulosa is a true beauty and very fragrant, good choice 👍 will take a look and let you know about the others, thanks for watching and commenting it really is appreciated. Happy growing buddy
Loved the hirtzii Mick not one I have successfully grown. I also have a small growing one like your decumana with yellow leaves apart from 3. Because of the shading I have in my greenhouse, with thermaboard up to the eaves and the roof is insulated with polycarbonate I only have to protect from the high sun from Easter. I still have no idea why I have all those yellow leaves. This past weekend I also put a piece of the green mesh shading up on the south facing roof of the small greenhouse as 3 days of sunshine made the draculas complain already. I never seem to get decumana to grow either I have the odd flower and it dosen’t die but neither does it flourish and grow. Love the size of your strobellii. Take care and thanks for sharing.
Lynn I must be on my third Decumana I've never had a more awkward plant in my life, but I'm not giving up just yet, yes I added the lower shade cloth to help with the sun and over the next couple of weeks I will be covering all the greenhouse it was a real surprise when I walked in and looked at the thermometer I could feel the heat I bet it caught a few growers out, the weather here nowadays is so unpredictable.Happy Growing.
Great to see them all in bloom! I thought the yellow leaves on decumana might be deficiency of some sort, though you might be right that it is too cold. I saw lucernula on sale over here in EU, do you think it would be ok at 14 to 20 degC or would that be way to warm for it?
Lucernula is another one that I struggle with, but that may be ok In you’re temperature I find it really doesn’t like the colder nights. You could be right about some sort of deficiency but I use rain mix at every watering so I might try a little Epsom salt’s. Thanks for watching, commenting and your suggestion.
Not too sure about scale Pix but it’s certainly helped me with my slug and snail problems but it does leave a mess of dry powder over the leaves and then you have to wipe it all off but that’s the price I was prepared to pay. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So frustrating they don't grow for me. I was planning on trying but I got a Pleurothalis instead of a massy (I thought it was one) it does need a similar care so fingers crossed
Enjoyed the video Mick....some lovely blooms on some fantastic plants............very enjoyable ...thanks and take care Mick,

When you said diatomaceous earth, my ears perked. Is that something I could use on Phals for scale? I must have missed when and why you used that.

Good lock buddy just find a more shadier spot and keep it moist, it’ll be fine.
