Takes 30 minutes to remove the column and, in most cases,a new motor ($25) fixes the original ESL. These things fail often. Fix it whichever way suits you.

Not possible, if it was possible every mercedes on the road could randomly have a locked steering wheel while driving. ITS NOT POSSIBLE.

SPOILER ALERT: it doesn't exist
It takes many revolutions of the motor to activate this lock and with no cables or power to the lock its not possible.
