Greece, I disagree. They were at a major talent deficit and, though their hyper-defensive tactics were very boring, they certainly didn't "sleepwalk." They had to work very hard and be absolutely perfect at every moment to survive each match.

That's a big insult to Madrid cos you're insulting their levels.
On paper for sure the bracket was easier for England, but in all honesty Spain are the only 'big' team that has performed to a decent level consistently. Belgium couldn't stay onside, France couldn't score goals, Italy just imploded, Portugal couldn't find 2nd gear, England's build up play has been in slow motion and the Dutch were tactically inept. Spain are the only one which has shown any consistent quality and hunger to win.
Germany were looking good but they came up against Spain and I said that the winner of that game will win the tournament. So I suspect Spain will absolutely tonk England in the final, unfortunately.
If Germany didn't encounter Spain they'd probably have met them in the finals!

I'm a long live Spanish fan, but I have a huge respect for England. They're an unpredictable team with great players who can score goals.
Whatever the result, I would be happy. Spanish National team have come a long way and I'm happy for them. Being in a final is a great achievement for their young players.
Hence we were initially weren't the top Euro contenders, but it changed after the group results.
Everyone in England thinks Spain are the favourites. You've been the best team in this tournament from the start. If we pull it together and win then that's fantastic but I'd be very surprised. Buena suerte!

I think England winning this euros will be a loss for football, Spain are in the final on merit and playing well and beating the best, while England have not played well and have not played a top tier team all tournament. I can understand the English fans are so desperate to win a major trophy that they see reaching final as well deserved, if they win the final they will be remembered as legends in England but around the rest of Europe they will be seen in the same way as when Greece won euro 2004. They will not be the best team in Europe by a country mile.

The Irony is that Spain play that 4-1-4-1 formation that would actually get the best of England's players if Southgate was positive enough to play it.
You are asking something too "advanced" in terms of strategy and tactics from Southgate that started the tournament with 5 players out of the regular positions (Trippier, Trent, Foden, Bellingham and Saka). Having the players play in their regular positions is the easiest thing to do and he wasnt able to do it. He at least has Foden and Saka playing in their position and realized Trent is not a midfielfer, He still needs to correct the left side; Neither Trippier nor Bellingham look comfortable in the positions they are playing on the left side. If he doesnt fix the left side, Carvajal and Yamal can destroy them.

England played exactly one convincing half throughout this whole tournament (first half vs Netherlands, of course) - I don't get how this team is even considered being one of the best teams of this championship.

Based off of how England have been playing in this tournament apart from their last 2 games even if they’re still not perfect, if they were on the other side of the bracket, then they would’ve even be in the final as they would’ve been eliminated by one of Germany Portugal France and Spain the team they’re playing against in the final. Spain have had the harder route to the final yet they’ve been the best team throughout the tournament as they’ve been consistent taking care of business and were the better team in every game that I could think of and they just have to get the job done in the final as they’re the favorites to win the trophy. Yes they have a lot of talent which is why no one is shocked that they’re in the final, as they did fall behind against Slovakia Switzerland and the Netherlands and at times they looked like they were going to get eliminated, it was inevitable that they’re going to get this far in the tournament because these are teams that they’re supposed to easily be beating even if they had to win the hard way and have relied on luck individual brilliance penalties and getting a penalty kick that shouldn’t have been called.
The fans and media are still not giving Gareth Southgate the respect that he deserves despite the fact that he’s taken them to back to back finals of the EUROs mainly because any manager would be doing what he’s doing if not better, and I done wanna put him in the same sentence as Pep, but still it’s like him winning so many trophies because Man City are a stacked team even though he’s a good manager, the world class players they have are saving his job when they’ve not looked good at all, they’ve always had an easy side of the bracket in every major tournament and he has a luxury of players to choose from off the bench since their squad is so deep, at the end of the day other teams who’ve played much better than them are at home meanwhile they’re in the final and yes it’s a bit undeserved and don’t get me wrong some of the football they play is absolutely boring but in major tournaments it’s all about doing your job which is get the right results to move on as they’ve been able to win games without being at their best and English fans should be happy that he’s taken them this far and they are underdogs against Spain, what if England are able to win the EUROs in this fashion and end your trophy drought like this, it still won’t happen as you know that they’ll find a way to choke because they do it every time they’re in this situation as they’re the definition of “choke artists”.

Its crazy that people are writing off England, this team do not know how to give up even when playing badly. Yes Southgate is mediocre but to write of England is a Joke player for player they are better than Spain and theyve been on a madrid in the champions league flex. @tommykarate9397 they have been poor due to the tactics, that's different to them having a fearless and never say die attitude, to come back again slovakia was the first thing, then to overcome the Swiss who were a better side than people are making out and the 5 penalties all slotted away perfectly. I'm just saying the mentality is different from other generations of England squads I feel like it's their time
@tommykarate9397 this type of attitude is the problem with england, the footballing culture is all wrong a couple of bad games and people panic and start to slaughter the team which filters down to these dodgy performances, hence why the last golden generation didn't win anything aswell.
@tommykarate9397 To add to my last post, the scrutiny the media put on the team makes the players play worst, and instead of thinking about the game and playing as a unit players start to overthink, which stops them from being able to express themselves. Having said that although all of the above still being true in some senses, this team is full of winners and generational players who can pull out that one bit of quality out of the bag also they play to the very end and that is vital for a winning formula in tournament football
