    I got misdiagnosed for a year before finding out I had NPC and it was Stage IV by that time… five years cancer free now! Treatment is aggressive, and the after effects are lingering, but trust the process for sure if you get this diagnosis ❤️

    Son was diagnosed with NPC in 1985, subsequently treated with chemo and radiotherapy. He was actually cured. He was 17 at the time. About the time he turned 40 multiple problems emerged due to the radiation. He had to have all his teeth extracted, they had become very painful. He lost his salivary glands. and his esophagus began to narrow. As time went on, he lost the ability to swallow solid food, enforcing a liquid diet. Even his 'shakes' end up in his nasopharynx and nasal passages.

    • @misterthi
      @misterthi 3 роки тому +2

      @@ladykamsessi2885 Hello! I’m so sorry this is happening to your family. Generally speaking, this cancer is very treatable. There is a lot of research on this cancer and the chances of surviving the cancer can be very high depending on the stage. I had to endure radiation and chemotherapy for half a year. Afterwards, I had to have a minor surgery to remove lymph nodes from my neck. Currently, it looks like I may be in remission. Things may get very painful and difficult for your father and the family. It will be natural to feel weak and helpless. The most important thing I would suggest is for your family to be open and honest with communication and remember to be there for each other. Just sitting and holding each other can make a huge difference. Please feel free to ask me anything throughout your experience. I would love to pass on anything I may have learned and offer support.

      I still have scar tissue but the tumor is inactive at this time. Technically you don't count as a survivor / cured until you make it 5 years. I have chronic dry mouth from the radiation so I eat pretty much all food with water to make it easy to swallow. My taste came back pretty fast after stopping radiation which I am so thankful for. I sometimes get a cramp type feeling in my neck like a muscle rolling up into a ball. Also a radiation symptom.

      @Anthony Eugene Ascolillo I had a terrible pain in my neck at the base of my skull for about a year. I would eat ibuprofen all day every day. Sometimes my throat would go numb from time to time. They didn't figure out what was going on until I developed double vision.

I took the antiobiotics and it felt better, but now the stiffness and swelling of the lymph node is coming back on the left side of my neck. I am now terrified it's nasopharyngeal cancer.
