This was so exciting for me as I'm now on my learning journey, gifting myself procreate for my birthday, and can't wait to start my learning curve as I'm sure there will be lots of laughing at oneself for the rest of this year. I'm just not a good drawer, but I refuse to give up, my stubbornness is what keeps me going, and you of course. Thank you for all that you give to us ;)
Aw I’m so glad you’re going for it! Honestly my drawing skills were very different a year ago! It just takes a lot of practise - and like you say, determination! You’ll get there and the learning curve is part of the fun! I’m hoping to do more tutorials like this (at a slower pace too) with lots more hints and tips for beginners to procreate 💛
I've watched this amazing video several times and I laugh every time you say you're still learning. I can only hope to reach this level in my lifetime.
I love what you ve said about the finding a style part. I ve struggleed all my art life to find a style and I finally started to embrace this instead of pushing myself inside a box. My feed doesn't look consistent either but I am so curious to try new things and explore. This video gave me more courage. Thank you! ♥️
Thank you for creating this video! it's so helpful to see how the character design process really happens. most videos I've seen already have a great drawing in place and it's more finessing and using effects to polish the final artwork. you showed your thinking behind and every decision from sketch to final color! 😊 It's so appreciated!😀
This was exactly what I needed!!! Thank you so much for putting so much work into it! Super detailed and very well explained!! Can't wait to try some of these new (to me) features! ❤🥰
@@fizzandflourish hahaha, I understand!! It was actually perfect for me but anytime I wanted to see something again, I'd just rewind. I made a whole new illustration yesterday using this and I'm rewatching today to understand the 'recoloring' part 😁✌🏾
I have learnt two new things that i believe use it from now on first pressing selection to add a new selection other one open a new canvas to change the color of the art. sooo useful thank you so much. i love your designs also..
Thank you for creating this. I think because of what you told us about designing the head first and then doing the body proportions after that, it will help me. By the way, when laying down your color, you can also use clipping masks for that. It makes it easier to color in the lines. But I'm sure you knew that LOL thanks again.
Hey Maddie! Thanks so much for the lovely comment 😍 I’m so happy you found some useful hints and tips...I definitely want to do more videos like this and hopefully squeeze in more techniques! (Was tricky to get everything into a 20 min video!) 💛💛💛
I’m so glad you found it useful! I’m hoping to do lots more like this and go into more depth because there’s just so much I couldn’t fit into one video! 💛
Very good tutorial! I must watch it many more times, still just learning. But many many things i had no ide about, so thanks. Can't wait to see more of these (I expect there will be a lot of these type of videos in the future ;) )
Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I realise I went quite quickly so next time I’ll do a more detailed version at a slower pace! Can’t wait to do more of these! 💛💛
Thank you so much for sharing. This is one of the best tutorials I've watched. Please do more...I'm still learning with my ipad/procreate and this tutorial is so helpful. Thank you, thank you, thank you..xxx
Hope it’s been a lovely birthday week! 🎈 Really loved that rainbow effect camera filter 🌈 Ps. Not sure if it’s just on my side, but the time stamps weren’t working
Thanks for sharing! I just found your channel this week and have really been enjoying your videos! I started learning to draw traditionally in the spring, but just got an iPad and it's a whole different beast! Your tutorials have been a huge help!
Hey Kimber! Thanks so much for the lovely comment (sorry for being so slow to reply!). I’m so happy you’ve been enjoying my videos - you’re right, digital art is a whooole other world haha
Great video, thank you for sharing the way you work and helpful insights into how to use Procreate to add different effects. I would of happily watched the whole process in real time! x
Hello, I saw your channel and the videos looks awesome! I'm starting to draw again. I know some basic sketching but want to get more into 2D Drawing. I'm also a 3D artist but still thinking on learning 2D illustrations also. What tips can you give for beginners like me? My goal is to draw anime/game style illustrations. More like Chracter Design and Game Illustrations. Hoping to have your reply. Thanks!
Loved this video so much!! These are also some of my favourite brushes on procreate too as I just love the texture. Always been obsessed with texture!! Well done and thanks for sharing these great tips, can't wait for another one!! Take care :)
Oh yay! So glad you liked it 😍 adding texture is my absolute favourite - feels like you’re getting a more traditional look with the convenience of digital! Can’t wait to make more 💛💛💛
I'm a writer but I'm agog at your talent. I'm useless at drawing and now too old to learn! What do you charge to do a paperback cover? Great selection tip!!! Subbed!
Great video Meg! The flipping the canvas is a great tip, its crazy how you can become blind to a mistake and then as soon as you flip the canvas its so clear! I (like everyone else) love all the texture that you keep in your work, it really is a great combination of traditional and digital art! Do you ever work traditionally? It must be hard to go back to after working on the ipad #doubletaptoundo
Hehehe loving the hashtag 😂 yeah flipping the canvas is something I love about digital art! I’m actually fairly new to digital art - I’ve been doing it about a year so did traditional art before that! I loved oil painting and pencil drawing (mainly realistic portraits!) but to be honest I’m so impatient that I would never finish a piece! One thing digital has brought to me is the ability to finish a drawing! Maybe I should give it a go again though and see the outcome! 😆
i really like to shade with the multiplay mask option. you just pick the color of the part ypu are working on and it makes it a bit darker, it works wonders if you are workin with many colors as the color you are shading with adapts to the color you are working on. I also low the opacity when i use it Hope it helps everyone!
Yeah I like to do this too! Honestly I have so much more I want to share but I couldn’t fit everything into a 20 min video 😂 hopefully I can do more and keep sharing these tips! 💛💛💛
Because I find choosing colours difficult, I prefer to pick them first, tweak them, and then go into the proper colouring stage and actually enjoy the process. I can see that the colours work in the sample stage and change things up until I’m happy, then take my time colouring in without thinking about what to chose! So yes, personal preference - but if choosing colours isn’t your favour part, this step can help!
Bonobo, curiously, is a breed of monkey as well as a type of brush. I've heard it pronounced with a soft "O" sound, as if you're saying the letter itself rather than pronouncing it (so "O" rather than "Oh"...it's kinda hard to describe in writing, at least for me, lol ).
Nice of you for sharing your journey. Are you pivoting to drawing people? How do you get the nice background behind the iPad?💕. I started a UA-cam channel, but haven’t had that much traction on mine. It’s not under this name I’m commenting on 🙂🌸
Hey! Yeah I’ve always drawn characters - that’s how I started on this journey :) as for the background, I just use my desk and set up a few things around my iPad - good luck with your channel, I’m sure if you keep consistent it will grow! 💫💛
@@ang.giselle2024 oh I seeee! Sorry that makes sense. I created it as a png on my iPad then uploaded it into my video editing software and set it above the video layer if that makes sense!
I'm not keen on liquify, I find warp way more incrementally controllable. Go get Aaron Blaise's anatomy course, half the time his stuff is at special, even giveaway prices. (Famous Disney guy). And I can recommend, as odd as it may sound, getting some fashion croquis instructions (ones built by fashion designers, not just anyone) - they are of course extreme but you can adjust, thing is they are built in very precise measurements which will accustom you to deciding proportions. Your work's not half bad for someone who says they don't know anatomy tho'!
Yeah I usually use the warp tool but I’m loving the liquify too at the moment! It’s always fun to experiment! I’ll definitely check out Aaron Blaise - thanks for the suggestion!
