The most ubiquitous Cognac brand in the world has to have a crown jewel in its list of offerings. For luxury house Hennessy it is Richard. We get that this is not for everyone, BUT if anyone collects luxury Cognac, just sold their start up company, or does in fact play for any of the professional sports teams in town, let me offer some perspective. THIS bottle is as good as it gets. Unlike a Bugatti, Ferrari, Bentley, etc which cost each millions of dollars, you can buy the BEST in the world for less than $5000. When you have this on your back bar, or when you serve someone a drink from it, you are conferring to them not only the flavor of the drink, but the history, prestige, price, and effort it took to get that liquid in their glass. Also, most of these are reverting to Hennessy for private client sales very soon, so here's your shot! For everyone else, here are our tasting notes:
Nose: Candied fruit, ethereal floral aromas, slight spice, confetti cake
Palate: Opens with light flower blossoms and cake, then mid-palate and finish is show stopping. Insane fruit/nut depth. Antique leather, antiquary shop with more floral notes. The YOUNGEST spirit in this blend is 50yrs old, with the oldest dating from 1890. So, if you want to taste something which was harvested before FLIGHT, here's your shot!
