SVS is amazing at everything they do and that includes customer service. They really don't know how to design and build anything bad. I though really want to check out the Ascend acoustics CMT340s. I'm eventually going to break down and order a 3 for the front sound stage. I've been intrigued by them for quite some time. Dave who designs them is another guy that is a perfectionist and doesn't even know how to build crap.
I've never been so caught up in a speaker brand like I am with SVS. It's an American brand made close to home awesome value and quality build. I'm going to need a A/A class now Audio Anonymous lol.
The niche of ultra towers is that they are full range on a budget. Nothing wrong with that, BUT when you can stretch your budget a bit there are better sollutions. For example at EU curren5ly you can buy a pair of focal 948 for about 2k. Focals are way better when it comes at highs and mids and as for lows sure they dont go as deep but there bass is tight and realistic. In the long run if you need more low end add a sub (a pb 2000 for example) and get done with it.
$5000 vs $2000 isn't stretching our budget "a bit" that's another $3000 which is a lot. So yeah you spend more of course there's always better like THTD said. But not a fair comparison considering the big price gap
@@arckanum332 There are a LOT of speakers that match the SVS Ultra towers in price but have a much higher fidelity sound. Hell Martin Logan 60XT's are selling for less than $900 per speaker and absolutely destroy the Ultras.
Thanks Dude, you are doing some leg work for us. Where is that store? I plan on going to Axpona 2019, also like to visit these types of stores for ideas on making my system better. I am a huge SVS fan.😎
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude im not an expert or anything but why dont more companies do that... will it mess with the frequencies? maybe get the ultra towers then drill a hole in the front and plug the one in the back lol
I'm sure most of us realize this, who follow you. However I'm very concerned about those customers listening to the SVS towers. It's not just the speakers themselves which are probably magnificent. It's all about the supporting pieces of equipment and gear that help you get to that sound. I see Furman line conditioners back there. What about the source content? Was it a high res streaming source versus say a FLAC or DSD file? How about the components? More importantly how about the speaker wire and interconnects? It's the supporting base that helps one to get there. Speakers are what you hear but it doesn't give you the complete picture. Those customers won't think about that. It's possible they'd buy those speakers. Hook them up to some entry level model receiver with crap cable. Upon which be disappointed. Think big picture. Personally I'm going through a cable refresh. This was post upgrading all of my power cables. Which has made a big difference. #PSA
Not only that, but notice how the SVS Ultras were only demonstrated on their own. No competitive comparison at all despite the store being filled with similar towers with similar pricing. I've done the A-B tests myself and while the Ultras are not bad, there are soooo many other towers in the $2000 price range that are better overall.

You and me both brother
Agreed... I was just told the other day that I have an addiction, once she saw all my new sub boxes in our living room... 😉
It even sounded real good on my 4 year old S7 Edge!

Good input. There is always a better speaker out there.. sometimes we have to pay for it though
Agreed, but it's extremely hard to beat SVS when it comes to overall value! 😊

This is Nebraska Furniture Mart. The name is misleading cause they have everything there. Its a 500,000sqft showroom. Whats axpona?

Hes the director of sales :)

@That Home Theatre Dude - Do you what source, preamp and amplifier was used in this SVS demo?

Never played music. Guess I'll go buy a Cellos.
Ok... What's next? Any other speaker other than SVS? I'm having SVS fatigue.
haha, go check out youthmans channel. You get the Klipsch fatigue then you'll come on back haha
I just got a lot of content from the event so Im running it all off. I will be back with more reviews and such soon.
Exactly. There were so many great speakers in the rooms that he did a quick flyby in. Hopefully he listened to some of them.
Why not make the port on the front so u dont have to put them so far from the back wall
good idea

I was there...lol
I can even hear the dynamics coming through my phone speaker, that's ridiculous
Would you say classical music is the best way to break in a speaker
maybe. I believe is passive break in percedure. Crank it to what you like and over time it will losen the spiders of the voice coils.
What size was that screen?
100? I dont remember
OK thx that's a big screen
Look on Facebook marketplace a Gentlemen is selling a PB-16 ultra for 1275.00 I can get to him or I'd buy it.
Dang thats a deal and a half!

im tenpted to drive up there and get it lol
Do it
