If you're getting Victorian unions to build it- it's going to be 3 years late and trillions over budget.

Many Major Construction jobs in Victoria barely have workers working any hours...no long days...no weekends....absolutely pathetic.
All Major Projects in Victoria full of fat contracts, all over budget by many many Billions.....all over due etc etc etc
Look at the rail project shitshows, the cancelled projects, the many times delayed projects, the paused projects.....

@@stevewiles7132 I didn't know it was one or the other.
I've never watched an AFL game in my life and likely never will.
I'd prefer about $1 billion (or more, when it's completed) to go elsewhere. People are suggesting housing, I'd agree with that.
But the Tassie Lib government ($750 million) have been pushing for both an AFL team and a new stadium for many years. likely the ALP government before that.
And the labor federal government helped out with $240 million.
Is the AFL saying they'll ban Launceston? if so, it's a shame, a quite beautiful city.

@@indiathylane2158 It is a priority of Labor governments to get the unions back to where they were more than 50 years ago. In Victoria and Queensland, it is hard, maybe impossible, to win a government contract if your workforce is not unionised. The Victorian hotel quarantine debacle came about when Andrews rejected non-unionised defence personnel. Instead a contract was given to a company with no experience but had unionised workers. At the height of Victoria's lockdown, unionised council parks and garden workers were allowed to work in teams but non-unionised gardening contractors working alone were barred.

I've seen construction company banners often suspended, too. Just not sure what that proves.
You do know shorter hours were hard-fought and won over decades? Fourteen, twelve or ten hour days at shit pay are a thing of the past.
Won by unions. You want to work ten hours a day? Hopefully you can negotiate and the last 2 hours are at OT rates. It's called having a choice.
Why only weekdays? Could it be because workers want time off? To rest and take their kids somewhere?
And could it be because nearby residents don't want their weekends ruined by construction noise?

Perhaps should have mentioned the $50m TAS will fund a training and administration centre. Perhaps should have mentioned the $360m the AFL will put into the deal - over $200m over 10 years which is the annual distribution that all sides receive more or less, nearly $100m for game development/community football, over $30m for regional academies. Bit for stadium, bit for training centre.
