Hey 皆, thanks for watching this one! After reporting on Masuyama Eiko's passing in June, I thought it would be worthwhile to expand that bit of writing into a video giving tribute to her and her four contemporaries in the "classic" Lupin cast. With all the pilot and series 2 main cast having now passed away, it's really the end of an era for Japanese media and anime. Hope You find this video enjoyable, and hopefully respectful as well.
That was a great tribute video of the OG main 5 cast members of the franchise. They may be gone but their legacy and spirits lives on as the characters they played ❤🙏
I usually don't comment on videos but as this video graced my homepage, I had to watch it and I am glad that I did. I got into Lupin III during the pandemic when I was looking for something to watch and even though the obvious choice was to start with the modern era, I started from the Part 1 series (Which I found out about along with the rest of Lupin III content released prior to the 2015 series or rather Part IV through research)... It is safe to say that as a 24 year old, Lupin III changed my life and became one of the most profound and lovable series in my life next to a few like Gungrave, Trigun, Ghost in the shell, City Hunter which I also hold dear to my heart (but not as much as Lupin III). Sometimes throughout my daily life I will randomly start acting like Lupin and Jigen due to the fact that I consider them to both be VERY similar to my personality and they both help shape as well as refine who I am as a person. Sometimes I feel like if I was ever given the chance to play any of them, I genuinely would lol... Watching this video made me cry, from the history of the voice actors and the general history of the series since its pilot. Not to mention, that soundtrack choice... Till this very day, every time I hear any of the soundtrack, Immediately tear up and much more so if I start singing with it because it just hits home which I must give credit to Yuji Ohno and his incredible team for such amazing and iconic soundtrack over the years. This video means a lot to me and I am extremely glad that I had the opportunity to see this and get a deeper appreciation to the series than I already have. I love the entirety of the series on a whole, regardless of what other reviewers say. It is practically unconditional love at this point and I'm always excited for new Lupin III content. I even got excited seeing the trailer for the new Lupin III movie releasing next year, a sequel to "Fujiko Mine's Lie" which was released in 2019. As much as I would like to go on and on about how Lupin III changed my life and views and so on, I will just keep it brief. Noah, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you soo very much for this video. It really truly means a lot to me and this is a video I will continue to cherish as it is a very well documented piece of history of the franchise that should be appreciated and preserved for the rest of the series' runtime. I wish you the very best for your next project and I am truly grateful to you for this.
This was a great way to honour the original Lupin cast. I learned so much about each member and their careers before they were cast as the Lupin gang. Awesome work mate. May all these legends RIP.
Although I missed some of the later Lupin TV series and films, I have to say I at least caught the first TV episodes back in 1971 while a high schooler in Yokohama. I never thought it would go on so long.
As a kid growing up in the late 90s and early 2000s, one of mine and my brother's first exposures to anime were those that aired on channels like Kids WB, Fox Kids and Cartoon Network. The likes of Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Speed Racer being one of them. My brother and I grew up on anime before we were even old enough to know what anime was. But when Adult Swim first premiered on Cartoon Network, they not only played previously aired shows as well as original shows, but they also aired anime on there with Lupin the 3rd Part 2 being one of those anime titles that aired. Though the Oliver/Epcar cast were pretty solid and the original classic Japanese voice cast have lived fruitful thoughtful lives during their time voicing our favorite characters. So may they rest peacefully because they weren't old, they're all classics.
I got into Lupin the Third during 2021 after I had finished watching Detective Conan and I had started watching the movies. I had watched both Lupin the Third Crossovers so I was curious about the series as a whole. I did start with part 1 and worked my way up to the current series of where we are now. It was a great series and has some of my favorite music in anime. The composer is great and I'm glad to have seen him stick with the series for so long with his fantastic jazz band. I did notice the cast changes in the later series and it did take me a bit to get used to some of the new voices. It is odd to think the voice actor for Jigen had voiced him all the way from 1969 up to 2021 and the sendoff they gave him was great. I didn't even know the voice actress for Fujiko had died earlier this year as I was still under the impression she was still alive but it's sad to know they're all gone now except for one who hadn't voiced Fujiko since the pilot Also with part 2 it was obvious to notice the episodes Miyazaki had done. His episodes were pretty obvious with his signature style he had developed for his film studio and for the fact the animation was on another level, especially for the time. All of his episodes were extremely well animated and offered a notably different style than others and often had his signature flying machines as well
This is a very nice video honouring the voice actors of the original Lupin The 3rd series. I felt that I learned a lot from this and really interesting to learn about what life was like back then. May they rest peacefully in a better place.
Lupin the 3rd will always be one of my favorite animes the music, the animation, and the characters. It's one of those shows I can always watch no matter how I feel.
Yes and thanks for PlutoTV I got an chance to watch and complete Lupin TV series where it started with me on Adult Swim on Part 2 in early late 2003-2004 which took almost me about 2 decades because of how big Lupin franchise (slowly watching OVAs or movies such as Castle of Cagliostro and Mystery of Mamo). Now this video and passing of an member and their story really hits home feeling in an way.
When i was in my 20's my nephew at age 15 i think got me to Lupin when it first aired on adult swim and i became a fan,and as of August 8th of this year i am now 38 and i am still a fan while my nephew is in his Twenty's with a family of his own still sharing Lupin with his family.
my first intro to lupin was the mine fujiko series. to this day its one of the best things i ever seen. shame the following series have not come close, although the movies in the same universe have been terrific (minus the mine fujiko one ironically). the final movie after all these years is launching next year....
Really, really excellently put together video. Got me teary eyed a few times. I love when the people behind making the things we love get the recognition and admiration they deserve.
Thank you for such a lovely tribute to these folks. There's very little information in English on them, so it was interesting to learn about their backgrounds and lives, and how they came into the roles we remember them for today.
Glad you appreciated the video! The nice thing is that they’re all such nostalgic and memorable figures in Japan that there were plenty of easy-access Japanese-language sources about them.
“Yes, yes, yes, guess who's on third? Lupe steal like Lupin the 3rd Here like ear 'til I'm beer on the curb Peachfuzz buzz but beard on the verge Let's slow it down like we're on the syrup Bottle-shaped body like Mrs. Butterworth But, before you say another word I'm back on the block like I'm layin' on the street”
A month prior Masuyama's passing, I had a bizarre dream with a newsarticle about her suicide attempt. As it was a prediction or some sort. I've been (and still am) a Lupin fan since 2014. Thank you for the profound work. There were some new facts to learn about.
Closest things to that was Lupin and Jigen making a cameo in a city hunter movie and Ryo making a cameo in the Lupin Vs Cat's eye movie. It could easily happen since they're both owned by TMS.
@@Number1WarioFan I could see Ryo and Falcon giving Jigen trouble and Ryo could be hired with interpol too help Detective Zenagata too catch Lupin but ryo becomes a perv around Fujiko too and Kaori has too beat Ryo and Lupin up with the mallet for being pervs lol
@@UnseenJapan Funny thing is my local Honda dealership has a late 1960s Honda model that looks a LOT like Lupin III's classic Fiat! The car is in excellent shape for being over 50 years old. It was restored for display but hasn't been driven in many years. I took some photos of it. I think it's the N360 mini-car. It's amazing they have that car in Columbus, Ohio!
Theyre never truly gone. A part of them remains here on earth; their voices.

Such iconic voice actors tbh. May they enjoy their next life at least as much as this one.

As a italian long life fan of Lupin your video made me tear up, great job.
An honor coming from someone from the country that perhaps loves Lupin the most!
Thank you tms for this wonderful show not only being a hit to Japan but everyone around the world!
Thank you all for everything 😢

there's something poetic about the last one who was alive being Fujiko's va. I will miss them all
ever since i was a tiny shit ass and first saw Cagliostro i was hooked and a life long lupin fan, this is somber yet what a time they gave us.

Now that Noriko Ohara passed away recently, we now lost all the VAs of the Doronbo Gang from Yatterman too. :(
47mins?? that's dedication
thank you for making this

The JIGEN voice actor with episode 0 of part 6 is a great METANARRATIVE and is so much in it

None of you are old. You're all classics.
A little mistake I want to point out as a car nut, is that Lupin's car is a Fiat and not a Citroën
Whoops! Good point - mixed it up with Calrise’s Citroen from Castle of Cagliostro.
