Been a few weeks since a Sunday morning upload here on Greeno Eats - I hope you enjoy it!!
Let me know what you think about this breakfast - would you prefer this to the traditional Full English??
Thank you , I would love to visit Manchester 😊 💕
😂Good Morning From dull Chilly Devon❤❤
@ it's a great city - changed a lot in the 30 years since I spent a year there for sure!!
@GreenoEats I love it ! The breakfast looks awesome!!!
Great video again Greeno! In holland we have a tradition of porridge for breakfast too, never though would I order porridge in a restaurant… but you kind of changed my mind! That looked and sounded so good! 😋
Not something I would normally order either, but I am pleased that I did 🙂
Looks yummy😊
It was!
You don’t ‘alf get about Greeno. I love it. Well done to you for spending your days doing what you love. Just catching up on your latest videos. Really enjoying!
I try to get around as much as I can - it's great fun visiting different places!!
@ agree.
@@GreenoEatsif ever your travels take you to Exeter, please try oh my kimchi. Incredible Korean food
@ I was in Exeter on Tuesday... just filmed one video there, but that won't be out until Feb 17th - I bet you can't guess the place I reviewed!!!
@ impossible task…. Sooo many choices, great food scene there. Can’t wait for that video Greeno thank you!
Hi Greeno, that looked like a great breakfast. At first I thought the Greeno Eats hoodie might be a little corny, but no... I like it! 😊
Eggs Benedict is my absolute favourite for a breakfast & that looked delicious. Porridge looked good too, but must have been incredibly filling.
Very good review. 😊
I wasn’t too sure about the hoodie when I was ordering it, but pretty pleased with it once I got it in my hands!
@@GreenoEatsGood marketing for the channel 💚
A breakfast fit for a king 🤴. Love your content Greeno.
Thank you, I appreciate that🙂
Great service always seems to elevate the taste of the food. I don't know how you managed to eat both, they looked so filling. That portion of the porrige looked huge. The prices were really reasonable, as it would keep you full all day without needing a lunch. Looking forward to more reviews in Manchester, you have made me hungry now looking at that. I hope you enjoy your time there.
The service was so friendly, and as you say it makes a real difference :-) Great food (much more substantial than I was expecting!) - always nice to spend a little time in manchester, it's a great city.
Presentation nailed. Personally, for me, the bacon was overcooked and I would have preferred the spinach wilted down. Personal choice.
Presentation was good - often overlooked on breakfast dishes I think.
@ they do say you eat with your eyes 👀
Mmm. I do love a good breakfast more than dinner at times. :). Glad it went well mate. ❤. Stewie Cardiff. Lovely review. Ps. You always make me laugh. :). Thanks.
I'm glad you are enjoying the content!!
Thanks
Thank you Emma, that really is very kind indeed!!
Missed this one. I don't like eggs Benedict but the presentation was lovely and clearly excellent food
Yes - the porridge was the biggest surprise for me - inexpensive but blooming lovely!!
Love your Robin Hood Green outfit Greeno!! I last worked near Deansgate 22 years ago. The cafe near office offered full English and Tea for 9 quid then.
Thanks for the comment re the hoodie - I think it looks pretty good!
Outstanding video Greeno...10 out of 10! 😅❤🎉 Stay warm in the UK 🇬🇧 Hugs from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤🎉
Thanks Helen - I have to say I really enjoyed this breakfast - properly yummy food. Whoever would have thought a bowl of porridge could be so good!
@GreenoEats so pleased you enjoyed it Greeno it made me feel hungry just watching you eat lol 😆
Nice review as always Greeno. I arrived today in London and will try some of your recommendations.
Thanks for the kind words - I hope you have a fab time in London with some good eating!!
Tarting up old favourites is the way the eateries are going. No standard of serving Eggs benedict on a quality farmhouse white or wholemeal loaf, has to be sourdough which IMO is not the best way to serve it. Then you have the porridge, adding fruits to the dish was started as some hated the taste of oatmeal. Plain porridge with a good dose of salt is enough.
Fancy places have fancy food and charge fancy prices. Your reviews have got you used to them, and have conditioned you for the variations and prices. Your review was well done, and all applause for rating the staff as excellent. Would be good to see you in a hidden away gem, that serves plain food well. at a fraction of the price.
I have a feeling you might enjoy tomorrow evening's offering if you want cheap and cheerful done well :-)
Love your channel!, you and Gary eats are my favourites 😊 I always enjoy a new upload 🎉
Thank you Nadia - I really appreciate that!!
Yeah they are brilliant the two lads and a local one here in Dublin called Paul is it worth it are my favourites.
That looked lovely. I've only had one decent bowl of porridge out and thst was in cardiff arcade. Crumbs kitchen. Looked very similar. The underneath was like rice pudding, so creamy and hearty and thr top was nice and crunchy
Sounds great - as I recall there are some good places to eat in Cardiff Arcade.
Always love a little Sunday upload, it breaks the drought between uploads from yourself and Gary.
Quite a trek between Dorset and Manchester, fair play to you for getting from A to B and back to record and edit videos for people like me who hasn't been out of Ireland in 10 years or your other subs elsewhere in the world.
Thank you
Thanks, I am glad you appreciate the effort travelling around (it was about a 13 hour round trip to Manchester from home!)
From Uncle Roger to Gary to Greeno to Deano... it's a slippery slope, friends.
😂
Do i detect Greeno Merch coming ? Haha, going all the way to Manchester to just to please us lol. And yourself of course. I must say, that porridge looked amazing, i couldn't believe the size of the bowl, so much. Wouldn't mind giving that a go, excellent Greeno. 👏
Just a couple of hoodies for my own use - who in their right mind is going to buy Greeno merch haha!! That porridge was immense, and the gift that kept on giving - just seemed never ending!
I could eat that porridge ev day and a good serve too 😊
Oh yes, a very generous portion, and blooming delicious!!
Did look delicious. That bowl of porridge could feed a family. Very interesting what they thought to add to it and it still worked. Thank you Greeno.
Yes, the porridge was excellent - well made, great flavour and texture combinations, and enough to feed a small army!!
That all looks yumm . . Id even give the poridge a go . .
Whats the story re the kiwi on the window over your shoulder in the intro ??. .
Take care . 👍👋NZ🇳🇿🍻
Yes, a nice start to the day. The claim to be inspired by Kiwi and Aussie neighbourhood hangouts - hence the Kiwi I guess :-)
Greeno when are you getting any Merch out! Just a though! 😅❤🎉
A while off yet I would have thought Helen - just can't see too many folk wanting to wander around with my face on a tshirt haha!!
@@GreenoEats you never know Greeno until you try! 😉😅
Hi mate What a refreshing change looks delicious.
Simple but ever so tasty and not an overloaded plate.
It's so important to communicate with the servers/staff etc it makes them feel wanted as opposed to here's your food etc pity more/other channels don't 😂😂😂.
I love the way you describe each element of the dishes you eat a proper review instead of lacying content with amazing incredible etc.zzzzz.
Love porridge awesome.
Filling nutritional healthy.
Slow release one of my Moms favourites.
Have a great day.
I wish the business all the best fantastic value
Thanks for the kind words Jonathan. I think it's important to be kind and engage with the waiting / serving staff - the friendlier you are the more likely you are to get good service in return!
I enjoyed my breakfast at Federal - a great way to start the day in Manchester!
I am green lighting this video.
Very wise :-)
Another great video Greeno and I always look forward to your uploads, glad to see you come up North!
Thanks Andrew - a couple more to come from Manchester, and I hope to be up North a bit more this year!!
Was it a red or blue the pub
No indication as to the loyalties of the staff at all :-)
@GreenoEats I no where it is
Yes that coffee and that porridge would be Breakfast for me...10/10
Knowing what I know now, I would not need to order anything more than that bowl of porridge, it was incredible!
Looks truly amazing greeno x
It was very good indeed!
That porridge looks right up my street!
Or up your strasse as I might say! It was really good - probably not many reviewers out there reviewing a bowl of porridge huh!!
Thank goodness.
I was running into a content drought.
Now I can have an interesting 10 minutes-ish.
Cheers Greeno.
Glad to be of service!
@@GreenoEats You're a legend m8. 👍
Excellent choices. Wonderful colour palette. Beautiful
Yes, I agree Nikki - the porridge especially was a perfect lesson in how to elevate a very simple, basic food without too much fuss, and turn it into something truly wonderful!
Great video as ever greeno for city centre manchester that for a breakfast of that quality was remarkable value wise shall check it out myself
Yes - Deansgate has some pricey eateries for sure - this one I though was good value
I like your hoodie ❤😊🎉
Thank you!
Food looked amazing do you have your own merch now greeno
Not merch - I just had a couple of tops knocked up with my logo on for personal use.
Enjoyed the review. Loved the clothing line !
Thanks Graham - just had a couple of tops knocked up with my log on - they say all publicity is good publicity right!!
Morning Greeno, recently got into your vids from seeing you on Gary's channel. I like that your a man of the people like Gary. Do you have any plans to come to Cornwall this year? We have some great places to eat.
Welcome to the channel Mark - and thanks for the kind words. I do plan to film more in Cornwall this year - I have already visited a couple of times, filming places such as the Eden Project, a few places in Padstow, and a breakfast at an airstrip near Bodmin!!
@GreenoEats AHH cool I'll have to check those videos out.
That’s a massive Brekky!! I’d be falling asleep at work if I ever ate that much 😂😂
Were I not doing a review, I would have only ordered 1 plate of course :-)
Great video as usual. My Nan used to make us kids porridge for breakfast with a big knob of butter in the middle!! What a treat.
we had a big lump of strawberry jam
Porridge with butter in? Sounds luxurious!! I used to have it with a spoon ful of strawberry or raspberry jam :-)
That all looked really yummy! I love a good flat white when it’s full of flavour. Often that’s where places fall down with coffee that’s bland. That Eggs Benedict looked delicious. Poached is my favourite form of egg.
Flat white is my normal go to - and a good way to judge how good the coffee is I reckon. If it still has that real punch of flavour then you know they're doing things well. Poached eggs are probably my favourite too.
Looked absolutely delicious greeno thank you
It really was Gina!!
Everything looked really attractive. I've never been a fan of oatmeal made into porridge - the texture and I have issues. But it does look like they've been very creative.
It's interesting to see how differently a dish like Eggs Benedict appears in different places. Here they would be served on the two halves of an English/breakfast muffin, with a thin slice of bacon from the pork loin under each egg, and a fairly substantial dollop of hollandaise over each. There are many variations, but they're usually given different names (though they may appear on the menu under a heading for Benedicts). A place might do a Crab Benedict, substituting a crab cake for the bacon slice, or a Florentine Benedict using spinach and some cheese instead of bacon. But if you just order Eggs Benedict, the default is the muffin, the Canadian loin bacon, the egg, and the hollandaise. Some places get creative with the bread portion of their variations, but seldom with the OG.
Just in case you ever pop over here, that's the usual drill. FYI. 😂
A very popular Benedict dish here is with smoked salmon, which is delicious. It is more traditional to have it here with the English muffin too - sliced in half, each half holding an egg. With the Hollandaise it always feels luxurious as a breakfast to me :-)
@@GreenoEats Thst happens here, too. It is indeed a luxury experience. I used to visit a restaurant where they had one called Eggs Saint Charles, which was an English muffin spread with cream cheese, then a slice of prosciutto. then the egg, then the Hollandaise. Blissful. Not healthy. But delicious. 😅
@ sounds amazing!
Great review and food, Greeno. 👍 I disagree with a slight vinegary taste being pleasant in poached eggs. No need for cooking eggs with vinegar. The Federal Cafe deserves your green light. 🚦✅
I always use a little white vinegar of some description in my poached eggs - again it's just a personal preference :-)
Good review Greeno, just one small gripe?flat white isn't that a pretentious cup of coffee?
Maybe it is, but it's my favourite!
Huge fan of Benny's - must rather have a good one than a full english at any time. But i love when they're a bit different - had a fantastic Korean twist on one in Edinburgh years ago. Places near me used to do one with a port faggot in it. I've had plenty of black pudding egg's b. Current favourite is a local place (Same Same But Different, Bath) which do one with chilli jam and peri-peri and some chorizo in there. Fantastic flavours.
Ooh - that one in Bath sounds good!! I might have to look that up! I do like a classic smoked salmon benedict too - as long as it's good salmon!!
@@GreenoEats Please do - there's a couple of good breakfast spots in Bath - Same Same But Different, as I said, plus also the Good Bear Cafe, the Castle Farm farm-shop, just outside of Bath, and the Archway cafe, literally undernearth the GWR mainline is utterly off the tourist trail but has always been good value whenever I've been.
I'm sure you'll find some place cool to go to ❤😊🎉
Fingers crossed!
not sure about those cementy brick walls, still better than the infamous wallpaper though 😂
Leave my wallpaper alone hahahaha :-)
greeno rocking the merch looks good mate and wow the food looks amazing even the porridge another 5/5 review for me : )
Glad you like the new hoodie - seeing as North Face have failed to send me anything I took matters into my own hands and made my own :-)
@@GreenoEats haha you deserve a sponsorship deal mate your the face of north face mate : )
One of the great delights in life is watching you score what the Irish might call "plenty of feeding". The consistency of eggs will always be controversial (semi-solid can work for some) but on the eggs Benedict the yolk fusing with the Hollandaise should be a feature and consequently you were fair. The porridge looked absolutely delicious too.
the porridge was absolutely delicious - whoever would have though that I would spend 4-5 mins waxing lyrical about a bowl of porridge! You are right about the eggs of course - for a benedict you need the runniest of eggs, while the white is perfect cooked through. I'd say the first egg was maybe 30 seconds too long in the pan.
Great review Greeno, looked like good honest food 😊
Thanks Mike - yes, nice breakfast options, very friendly staff. A nice start to the day!
What a beautiful looking breakfast! They take pride in plating...
Indeed they do - very appealing on the eye
Hi mate Russel here how you doing 😊😊
Going well thanks, and you?
Hilarious thumbnail!!!
I thought you’d been raided by the food police!
No green light! Red and blues! lol. 😂 ❤
Thank you sir! I'd be ok if I had been raided - all I'd have to do is a great review of McDonalds and Trump would pardon me immediately!
Morning Greeno, Eggs Benediction on toast 😮. OK each to their own, but it really should be a muffin. Other options are not available, EB's are a one off. All the rest are versions, but in their own right. That said, yours looked fabulous. Bacon was cooked to perfection But why, oh why Sourdough 😭😱. On now to Goldielocks favourite ( not forgetting the three bears choice as well 🐻🥣😊) WOW wot a bloomin' big bowl, Full of surprises.. The Kilt wearing 🏴 wouldn't recognise it as the stuff that put hair in on yer chest and the toss of yer caber. Och eye👁️🗨️Going, as we have to on your own comments. Seemed a winning winter warmer. Well just back from a few days away, and trying some different breakfasts. Light tasty fruit and yoghurt ect ect. Next time I find myself in Manchester " I'd give it a go" think I've heard that before 😂😂 The cost was very pleasantly surprising. Good value for money. See you on another " Away Day " soon Allan&Family
Hi Allan - glad you had a nice few days away.
This was a pleasing breakfast - both in terms of the quality and value of the food, but also the extremely friendly service, which makes a world of difference!
Eggs Benedict on sourdough is indeed a twist which may be unneccesary, but as the sourdough was toasted to perfection it was enjoyable. The bacon was the star on that plate though.
The porridge was something else - huge portion, great flavours and well balanced. That and a coffee would have been a very adequate breakfast in itself!!
Greeno merch...finally. Here's hoping our Dorset hero bought Mrs G some rubber Greeno kitchen gloves😎😉 (I had another idea but I did not want to offend Mrs G or get the Great G demonetized🤦🏻♂️. ) Greeno mate. I have forwarded your pic to the French douanes (customs). Anyone trying to get into France in a Greeno hoodie will be sent back to Dorset😎😘
😂😂
I'll be sure to pack the hoodie deep in the case then, once I get through the border nobody can stop me!!!
There’s nothing wrong with raving about porridge! Mind you the bacon was the highlight for me … and Manchester is always worth a visit!! Great stuff Philip
The bacon was great - crispy without being burnt, full of flavour. I do love Manchester - it's a great city - much changed in the 30 years since I spent a year there though!!
@ the best way with the bacon! I lived in Leeds for four years and often enjoyed popping over the Pennines to Manchester though I like Liverpool even more.

Hi Greeno hope you enjoy Manchester great Northern city.
Your breakfast looks absolutely awesome.
Thanks Greeno.
Enjoy your day.
❤🎉🎉.
(644) LOVE a nice bowl of porridge. I wonder how the oats were milled. Savoury porridge is really good too. And poached eggs on toast is good too.
Don't think I have ever had savoury porridge
Well i never thought I'd be happy to wake up with Greeno on a Sunday morning! I usually have to compete with Laura Kuensburg looking more sour than those cherries on a Sunday morning.
Good to see you tackling something else for brekkie compared to what everyone usually has. Mrs Street likes poached eggs with spinanch and avocado on sourdough. She always has to make me feel like a fattie.
While i was happy with the 3 points i think the Cherries had every right to be sour yesterday. Dodgy penalty. Hit the woodwork twice and had a very tight offside goal chalked off.
Based on looks I'd go for a 4.5 on the brekkie. Mainly cos hazelnuts are the only nuts i can live without 🤔 thanks for the Sunday morning treat.
We were fuming in the ground yesterday - very poor officiating all game. Mostly (although not all) against us. The penalty, I can see why it was given at first glance, but no clue how VAR didn't rule he tripped over his own feet! MacAllister could (and probably should) have had a second yellow when he booted Brooks. One of those days - a game v Liverpool is kind of a free hit. Time to focus on beating Southampton away next :-)
Glad you enjoyed the video - it is nice to find alternative breakfast options that as as good (if not better) than a full English sometimes!
You know that I like a FEB (plain pork sausages, not herby ones), but it is always good to see an alternative! That looked great mate!
It was good - who'd have thought I would ever spend 4 minutes raving about a bowl of porridge!
So happy for you that you can enjoy that hot bowl of porrige instead of a full day of home officer computer job 😀😀 lovely video as alwas. Varm greetings from a sunny Andalucía
Sunny here in the Uk today Mattias (but I bet it's still nicer where you are!) - I definitely don't regret my change of career, although my bank manager does haha!!

Pretty good, one better than the other!
Sunday morning pre lunch so I'll try to behave (for once :D) Deansgate, Manc was one of my 'haunts' and unless I am mistaken the red-brick building behind when you summised was where I would go - The John Rylands Library. I had a terrible brekki in one of those chain hotels a short distance away. Although I complained it did me little good so glad you had a good 'un.
It was indeed the John Rylands Library behind me :-) I try to avoid chain hotel breakfasts where possible - there's normally something better for about the same price or cheaper round the corner!

The hoodies are just for personal use at this point Smithy, although if there is enough of a clamour then maybe I will have to do something (unlikley but you never know!!) - glad you enjoyed the video pal - just had a roast dinner with my Dad and settling down to watch some footie on the box - not a bad Sunday!
@ sounds good to me Greeno! Enjoy and take care mate.
I dont drink coffee unless its rich and strong, why bother? Love eggs Benny and I eat oatmeal everyday so porridge looked great. Nice video.
Trouble is, until you get the coffee you don’t know how good it will be!
@GreenoEats True
Is it a thing now to tell places they are being reviewed ?
Not sure what you mean - I didn't let them know - I just pitched up.
@GreenoEats the shirt with company name and picture. Not a criticism just likely to be treated better when they see this which effects the review.
@ I think the camera plonked on the table and me talking to myself already gives them a clue 🙂
Ahh - what a measly amount of Hollandaise sauce on that benny. Looks lovely otherwise, and a nice amount of bakon and some great looking bread - but with that much stuff going on on the eggs benedict, it definitely needs a couple more spoonfuls of sauce, IMO.
That's a fair criticism Dave
You're gradually getting closer to Newcastle Greeno, you'll get here someday..! 😉
One day, I promise!!
@@GreenoEatsmake sure you hit up Riley's Fish Shack in Tynemouth, it'll be the best sea food you've ever had. Love the channel mate! 👍
Do you like back bacon? that's my favorite
I do - a like all bacon in fairness!
A cherry pop on the porridge? Well I’m glad to hear you popped your cherry on a bowl of porridge in Manchester City 😮!
Those eggs Benedict looked delicious and of course the crispy bacon was a great choice. I didn’t see you using salt. I have to have salt on my eggs no matter what way they’re cooked. Great review Greeno 👍
Haha - very good Philip :-)
The dish didn't need any seasoning - there was plenty of flavour as it was. Normally I like salt and pepper on my eggs - but just no need here!
You're funny Greeno ❤😊🎉
Thanks 🙂
Don't like eggs, benedict it's a texture thing Greeno. Would prefer wilted spinach and the bacon's a bit tight due to the extra cost imho.
I quite liked the raw spinach as a textural element - sometimes wilted spinach with the egg and hollandaise feels a bit one note to me.
Greeno! What an amazing choice of breakfast! The Eggs Benedict looked super duper! I'd just had porridge myself 10 minutes before I saw the video. Here in Brazil, I make mine with bananas, cinnamon, a touch of vanilla, and a teaspoon of honey! Hmmmmmmm! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Sounds great (apart from the cinnamon haha!)
@@GreenoEats Should I replace it with Mushrooms? hahaha
@ haha, ummmm..... no
Wow, that place was really happening, the porridge looks great i love the stuff. Well done video, fab as ever.
Thanks Dale, your kind words are appreciated as always!
Ditch the hoodie 🙄🫢
Why?
Just lovely, I would order that over a Full English or Full Irish any day. I love brunch, the only thing that is missing is a Bloody Mary. You are on a roll Greeno.
Yes, this was a very nice way to start the day - thanks so much for the kind words!
Would have been better if they had served the porridge first then the eggs benedict but looked stunning
I don't know, that would have been a sweet dish first followed by a savoury one - which just feels wrong to me!
I normally have weetabix for breakfast pal very rarely I have a full fry up and porridge is second choice.
Do you ever have hot weetabix? I used to have that as a kid quite a bit - pour the mil on, a minute in the microwave, and make it into a kind of porridge - lovely!
You can’t beat a hearty bowl of porridge on a cold morning.
I have raspberry jam with mine to counter the blandness like you say.
Yes, you do need something to give it a bit of a lift don't you!
Fresh raspberries are even nicer.
Hey Greeno
Another great review, very impressed with the eggs and bacon, and the venue, thought you were a bit harsh, re the eggs, don’t forget eggs continue cooking after they leave the pan, so they may have arrived at your table just right.
Cheers from NZL
I cut them open first, less than 2 mins after they hit the table. But I know for some that first egg would have been perfect.
Love your channel 👍👍😊❤️🏴
Thank you Gaynor!
Nor just a green light but for the Manchester trams small white lights in a vertical position.

I don't think it was, as it wasn't greasy at all, maybe baked?
