I love this teaching style. So intelligent and thoughtful and challenging. He wants the musicians to THINK about WHY they play a phrase in a certain way, and to inspire them to gain a deep understanding of the music, the harmony, the structure. ❤
Been listening to Isserlis' recording on Spotify w forte piano. Probably the most beautiful recording there....
Yes, mind blowing ❤
What an interesting man! :) thanks for posting this. Much love from Belgium🇧🇪
Thanks for posting the masterclass in full. I was hoping to watch live on the cello bello feed but of course there were tech issues.
Maravilloso Isserlis, su aporte a este estudiante es enorme 🥰🎶 Por favor, pongan subtítulos en español para compartirlo a los que no se manejan bien en inglés, en especial el del maestro Isserlis, tan brillante y culto. 🙏🏽

Interpretation of a piece is always the hardest. How does one feel the music?
“Heroes do not look down at their feet as they kill the dragon. They might miss, they might spear their feet instead, Lully style” BAHAHA clever clever
is there a masterclass for the 3rd & 4th mvmts?
Sorry, just can't stand this self-absorbed "Master"!
It is as easy as shutting up and closing the video. If you are disrespecting someone, you are not being constructive.
@@pablolopezgomez9658Thank you
@@pablolopezgomez9658 constating someone as not sympathic has nothing to do with beeing constructive or unconstructive. it's just an opinion which is allowed to be published and has to be accepted. full stop.
@@walterkirchgessnerYour opinion is not useful to anyone.
"Can't stand it" is not an opinion. It's a judgment maybe? If you don't like it, turn it off and move on. Isserlis has opinions, and he can express them, with a reason! If he was self absorbed he wouldn't be using his time and energy to share his insights and experience with young performers. Do you think he needs the money? I love his teaching style because he wants musicians to THINK about what they are doing. If you listen, he asks "why are you doing this?" . Mostly they can't answer. Maybe after this dialogue, they will think more about why.
