BGC, Ortigas, Makati, Quezon, Pasig are the cities inside in Greater Manila and they are rapidly developing and outside Luzon, there are Davao, Cebu, CDO, Gensan, and even Muslim cities in Philippines are developing so fast just like in Vietnam.

The philippines new capital, new clark city will be done in 2035 and it will be home to poverty-free so they'll be no slums there. And vietnam is planning a mega airport full of beautiful sights, both are beautiful philippine has beautiful beaches and many fun things, vietnam has nightlife never to miss but vietnam is richer in gdp nominal, but philippines is richer in gdp ppp and gdp and economy. Ive been to saigon, i enjoyed the night life at vui bien, its much cheaper than manila.. i enjoyed walking around the streets ,its safe, havent seen any beggars. Everyone is working

Bitexco Financial in HCM was a project of my former boss' friend.
Been to HCM in 2019.Had a lovely moment touring around .The city is vibrant with a lot of motorbikes on the streets,shops are congested with eager tourists wanting to bring home authentic souvenirs,the night markets are really busy and the museum's have preserved the artifacts that speak about the past...miss you Saigon.....

I know manila was a much older city than jakarta. You see jakarta was used to be called batavia. Its a small city of colonial dutch. The dutch is one the best when it came to city planning and architecture. You can see that area of kota tua was basically the european district of the city. The chinese and pribumi had their own district. In a sense there are 3 cities with different city planning. Each ran their own community.
Than as we gain independence so does the city grow. Slums was built by the influx of migrant worker coming to cities in search of work around the city limits. Expanding the city boundary. In time the area were gentrified. Newer building constructed, public parks created, etc.
It also maybe had to do with population density. Manila is already to small for its population. It already ran out of space for new dwellings. Hence houses built on top houses in the manila slums. While jakarta still has a lot of land, dont get me wrong. We still had a lot of slums too. But we just had more spaces to acomodate people. Hence the slums were less tighter than in manila.
