And look at the state of the pitches. Ball is bobbling up and down as he dribbles and he still had class control.
He was an incredible player top 10 in history for me the rockstar lifestyle and drinking problems really dented his football as he got older but Best was ahead of everyone at his time
Never mind the pitches but the tackles. Lads went in with tackles that would put a modern player out for weeks.
Yeah, but could he do it on a rainy night in stoke.
lol fr
It is atonishing watching this.... He was so ahead of his time. Its like watching someone like Ronaldo teleported back to the 60's.... and just destroying everyone.... Best was the first.
Ronaldo. Yes. Exactly what went through my head.
The Brazilian Ronaldo yeah
exactly
The most impressive thing was that he played in such bad pitches where the ball would bounce all over the place yet he still controlled it perfectly
exactly
Most of his games were never filmed. He was perhaps the finest of all time.
After cruyff
@@ummeabdul1348 both even in my opinion
After Carlton Palmer.
Messi is so clear of him lmao. So is maradona cruyff R9 zidane Pele etc
@@ummeabdul1348 when he was sober and could be bothered to turn up.
DEFINITELY ONE OF THE MOST SKILLED AND TALENTED PLAYER IN THE FOOTBALL HISTORY 💯💯💯
facts
Imagine what he would do on a modern day pitch...
😳😳
With modern day facilities, fitness regimes and diets.
ikr
Pele gets asked "Who's the greatest?" And Bests name is usually the first one he utters.
sn
And think how bad the pitches were back then, yet he could still glide through mud with the ball practically stuck to his feet
exactly
Pele good
Maradona better
George Best
First mega star of the sport in Britain at the time. The looks, the skills, personality. George had it all.
facts
Great player. Arugbably, the best European dribbler of a ball, with brilliant body swerves & close control's. Just a tad below, Di Stéfano, Pelé, Cruyff, Maradona, Messi.
At his peak, the absolute greatest of all time.
Nah, he's up there for sure but he's not the GOAT.
Hard to say. Personally I think peak Maradona or peak Ronaldo9 are the best peaks we've seen, but Best is up there with the best of them
@@GoGetYourShinebox For me personally it's peak Ronaldinho, he was pure joy to watch.
@@GoGetYourShinebox Stop it.. Can't wait for people to call Mbappe better than Maradona or Pele..
stop it
The way he could dribble with pitches that look like an unkempt garden lawn - imagine him playing on the carpets of today’s pitches. He would be incredible! Arguably best of all time for sure .
The greatest James!
Great player. Arguably, the best European dribbler of a ball, with brilliant body swerves & close control's. Just a tad below, Di Stéfano, Pelé, Cruyff, Maradona, Messi.

Explain?
Rip
didn't fall over when players went in for tackles either
No one did back then it was a completely different sport
Imo diving started post 2005.. Even the Brazilians who were the most skillful players never dived.
Unlike Cristina who still at his age tries to cheat with the ref...
@@PranavSettaluri forgot about the WC '02? Rivaldo?...
fr. Hes a fair person
One of the greatest of all time 👏👏👏👏
definitely
Not really
The most talented, for sure
Greatest ever.
I love how they celebrated back then! Scoring a wonder goal then just jumping up and down hahaha!
haha fr
Loved George Best, the ultimate player.
He would of loved to have played on the pitches of today, great player, had the privilege to see him play
One of the best players ever in my opinion all on a a lot of pints and steak and chip diet and retired at he's peak age! 27 in the English league 10 years at Utd tho
A genius, one of my most favourite players
Most impressive thing was how panelled he was ALL THE TIME
Guys remember he wasn’t playing with the facilities, smooth pitches. Wasn’t taught about nutrition and gym. Absolute class
Great player. Arguably, the best European dribbler of a ball, with brilliant body swerves & close control's. Just a tad below, Di Stéfano, Pelé, Cruyff, Maradona, Messi.
He was truly something else. He used to get hacked to bits by defenders and still get round them
Making these runs and skill moves in those pitches😳. Best was ahead of his time for sure
Imagine Best in the social media age. They won’t stop tweeting about him
lol fr
@@Ar021 haha
I heard that Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo and Messi have won the Ballon D’or. However when it comes to Best, they said he could keep it..
Pele good, Maradona better, George Best
Nice, aggressive header at 2:46 to set Best up for the goal. I don't know who that was but would have loved to play with him on my team. And yes, Best was the GOAT
Lovely what a player
Magic on the pitch a car crash off it .
greatest player to ever play in this country
The awareness is incredible, not only knew where the opposition where but where his teammates were too
The goal he scored against Northampton really was something else!
@Indie95 Yes, but which one of the six goals ?
Probably the most naturally gifted footballer _England_ has produced to date!
He’s from Belfast… Northern Irish, British… not English
Idiot
@Fam I am not Edmonton He probably meant British!?!
And that was him pissed
They must have paid someone loads to get hold of this
These defenders are shocking😂
He made them look that way in the same way Messi and Ronaldo do today!
A video like this about Jinky Johnstone would be brilliant.
Glad that Wembley goal is here to show smooth pitch, and Best's way to beat the last defender which is usually left out of the clip because no one could talk until: Best is through! Goal!
And the pitches were terrible then, on his day he could match anyone since then
Can’t lie whenever I watch football before the 1980s even 90s n 00s I just feel they’d get destroyed now. Every player looks fragile and weak , I think skill wise they could deffo compete just look at how Best dribbles on that shocking pitch. But footballers now are peak elite athletes they’d just smash him off the ball. And most likely the majority of defenders are more powerful than any striker or forward in that era. Eusebio people like that look amazing but evolution is real.
Yeh but if best got the treatment these modern day players got he would be miles better than most of them. I don’t think many modern day players could do it on the conditions best played in
Same goes for any sport but it doesn’t diminish their quality or influence. Most of the top heavyweight boxers of today would starch Ali based on power and physicality alone, doesn’t mean he isn’t the Goat.
Marcus Greenwood
They wouldn't it would be the complete opposite' because in the 60s - 80s players could tackle from behind' plus look at the defenders in those days, billy brenner, chopper Harris, Graham souness etc who were extremely hard taklers" in the modern todays footie in 2000s these players would be sent off regularly plus George best would of have more freedom on the pitch to show is dribbling skills if he was playing today in 2021
@@pog0777 George might have more freedom but he’d be weak asf. Players like Walker , Fabinho Ect would power through him. The fastest man in the world ran the hundred in 10 secs when George played. The average height was 5,7 the players were skinny and lean. This romanticism that people feel to old footballers is ridiculous. Take Rugby , nobody sees Lomu as the goat anymore as all rugby players are huge now. People question Bradman as the goat of cricket as fast bowlers, bowl far quicker now. Football just has some silly romanticism to it which makes people believe these players would survive now. Look if George was born now and had the resources of now and training Ect than fair enough. But my point was if he was taken straight from there and dropped into the champions league final.
@@pog0777 yes 100%correct mate, none of them would last 5 minutes, with the hard men, they couldn't even run on those terrible football pichtes!
With those skills he would be one the best nowday
It's a good thing he had the ability to avoid some of the outrageous tackles back then
so true
A player ahead of his time🤩
I just packed his prime card wtf
can’t go 5 minutes without mentioning fifa
@@fqq4137 lmao..
Imagine var in those days
One of those swerves sent the whole stadium the wrong way.
Like Messi
Look like me and geroge have to same birthday week.Happy birthday geroge
It is unbelievable how bad the defending was back then. One fake shot would have the entire back 4 and the keeper on their arses
He had such beautiful balance against brutal defenders of that era.
What a player terrible pitches and a heavier ball and he was still brilliant.
What a star , hard as nails too btw ⚽️👊
Left or Right, didn’t matter to George. Sheer class.
Simply the BEST!
Maradona good, Pelé better, Best best
pele overrated

Some magical bestie action here.

absolute class , this is what we need in our game now ?

Great
George Best was indeed the Best
haha
Thing is, what no one realises is that he used to put magnets in his shoes and in the ball before every game.
Can u prove this
@@ardianveseli2374 Yes. Watch the video.
Yes.. Game was played with the ball he brought from home. Like how it's played on the streets. jk
@@ardianveseli2374 Its a joke!
Pele was well overhyped because of 3 WCs, but talentwise Geroge Best was twice as better, but overshadowed by Pele.
Absolute legend!!!
What a player...
Who’s he playing against here. Sunday leaguers?
Idiot! He was so good thats how he made defenders look! All great players make defenders look immobile!
