it was a very special time in aussie rock. jack jones, phil buckle, and virgil donati all combined for the perfect storm. Remember sitting in my car when heart in danger first came on the radio and I was just awe struck as there was nothing like it anywhere on the airwaves. I also recognized Virgil's drumming straight away. Had followed Virgils work since planet x and loose change days...Became a bit of a groupie following the band around the melbourne music scene. saw them at the Dava mornington one night and Virgil pulled the most wicked drum solo with batman theme running in the back ground... only wish iphones were invented in those days...
@@poppsy69 I was a bit young for Loose Change, but I started following those guys with Hans Valen (plus Gnomes of Zurich and Roarrr). I remember the first SS gig at the Grainstore and Jack was sh*tting himself, but very quickly grew into being a frontman.
BoogieWonderland787 Na don't think so. he's on instagram but don't think hes doing any touring atm?? I would pay a lot of money for him to give me guitar lessons though!
+Dean Wuksta think the tempo is much the same but Irwin phrases his vocals in a horrible as lobbed way. Phil buckle is a gun guitarist too. Check out his channel on UA-cam for some crazy jazz guitar licks
I subbbed to Phil, liked the Benson pick grip vid, I played this video and the original side by side, was definitely faster. Been following these guys since The State, loose Change, watched Virgil play with 'Hans Valen' at the Corner Hotel Richmond on Tue nights several times. Saw 'Southern Sons' live in Tassie, Virgil was a remo drums endorser.
Virgil Donati is undoubtedly one of the best drummers in the world. Back then and still now. Always and ever.
Watch my other video of Virgil doing his double bass drum techniques.
poppsy69 that’s awesome video. I love these old recordings of Virgil.
Geez you forget just how good they were.

His guitar and vocals are amazing - just as they were when I first heard them

Looks like 1992
They reminds me of Michael mcdonald
Without keyboard sounds odd
great song, but tempo is quite rushed too, Jack is a killer guitarist and singer tho, and Virgil is killing it now.
