Weird, I actually like mine. DA pull might weigh heavy on the scale, but there's no stacking so very smooth and accurate in my hands. Definitely not slim, but works for me.
Lol...the P30SKS may be the BEST CCW pistol available straight outta the box. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with the trigger on any HK I own. Either you're spoiled on aftermarket super light-pull triggers or there's something wrong with your trigger finger bud.
Right. I have a p30 sks v3. I got one 2 years ago and been edc, its out for an optics cut at Langdon Tactical. Loved the p30 sk so much I bought a p30L and planning on buying 2 more p30 sks’s before politics get weird and cant import or quality / model redesign come.
The P30sk LEM is the best overall CCW I’ve found for myself. Very concealable, very low recoil, extremely high quality, reliable, safe trigger for CCW. I’ve tried G26, P365, P365X and XMacro, Hellcat, etc.
I have one. I couldn't shoot with it all that well when i first picked it up. I am used to the trigger now and shoot it really well. I love the sights. I was shooting softball +-sized rocks with it on a hillside at around 80-100 yards with several other guns along side of p 30sk. I hit more rocks and closer than my other full size pistols. I really love it and am confident with it. Just need to learn that trigger.
This always fascinates me. The DA pull is safer for CC. Plus the version with the manual safety you can carry SA, cocked and locked like a 1911. No heavy pull. But do you honestly think you’ll have a hard time pulling a trigger with a heavy weight in a moment of high adrenaline?
Had the p30L, lem, loved it, had the SKv3 like that one and double tap no problem. Didn't like the decocker. Have two SKV1 lem, excellent. Conceal iwb with 13+1 no problem. Full 3 finger grip. Does 1/8" make a huge difference in width? I don't think so. Grip length, lights and dots make conceal miserable. Isn't the dot as wide as the pistol?
Now carry the new 15+1 mag, same size as the older 13+1. They have a new 17+1 that is the same length as the old 15 rnd. Love the SK LEM, no need for a micro.
Own a 43X...took them both to the range after the first two magazines I knew which one I wanted to carry… I went through five more boxes of ammo just to make sure… It's not even a comparison… But you should not compare it against the 43x or a p365. It's a much fuller gun much easier to shoot and place rounds on target… Which is why it's my choice… To me it compares more closely to a Glock 19 but a shorter barrel so it doesn't hit my junk when I'm carrying appendix, with an LEM trigger you have a consistent trigger of a striker fired gun with a longer uptake Which to me is a safety feature and a bobbed Hammer to thumb when reholstering...Another safety feature ergonomically much more pleasant to hold easier to control and works like a fine piece of machinery I guess you have to decide whether you're willing to drive a Dodge charger or a Mercedes I get it it's a huge price price difference with cars and both get you to your job but with a PDW I'm willing to spend an extra couple hundred to have something that works like a Swiss clock. Guys are carrying 2011s and Glock 17s… If this is too thick for you stick a Ruger LPC in your pocket that's not a joke either… That's what I do when I don't have room for a full-size pistol Tell you what… Like it so much I just bought a P30L also with an LEM as my bedside gun. Will be sending it to Landon for a full slide mill and trigger job… Next is a threaded barrel for a can and… I like it so much it's replacing my FN FNX
Even with ambi safeties, it is very comfortable to carry especially when sitting in a car. Decocker and DA/SA Trigger action is NOT 14 lbs DA and 6 lbs What type gauge did you misread????
I agree with you about the trigger, as there are way better triggers out there. For reference, I currently own the P30SKs and L in the V3 model and previously owned the 3.9 inch version. I purchased the Grey Gun flat trigger and trigger reset for both guns and the difference is substantial. I love shooting my guns now and recommend the modification to everyone.
@jayjuggrnaut Yeah I've heard alotta great things about it as well. I definitely don't mind spending money on it since the P30SK V3 is my favorite carry. I just wanted to try and smoothen up those trigger pulls. Thanks for the info boss.
@JadedGLORY2689 I'll give one more data point and then I'll shut up so you don't think I'm a shill. I didn't purchase the kit for both guns at the same time as I didn't know if it would be worth it. I wanted to get some rounds down range before spending more bucks. I purchased one and dropped it off with my gunsmith. When I went to pick it up, another employee at the gun range said, "oh, that was your gun? Josh (the gunsmith) let me shoot it cause I also have a P30. After shooting yours, I ordered the kit for my gun also!" Good luck!
Why send it off to Langdon when you can do it yourself? As someone who not only has a Langdon worked gun (px4 compact carry) but has run his courses as well, there's a lot to be said for simply breaking a gun in and then and only then deciding that you want to work the trigger yourself to your own liking. It's what I've done to my hk45c (match trigger kit, polished springs, lighter weight springs as well) but what I'll end up doing to the p30sk. I just believe in putting at minimum a few thousand rounds down range to see how it settles first. Usually that greatly helps, then any further modification is to get it exactly where I want.
Sorry but you know nothing about what guns are for. No doubt you think HK’s engineers didn’t know what they were doing. In real life, with this gun, you can pull the gun out of the holster with your finger already on the trigger. It won’t go off. After shooting the first bad guy, you can decock the hammer while scanning for the second bad guy while there are other innocents around. Or in this case don’t decock it, your finger can still safely stay on the trigger and it still won’t shoot by accident. (Well ok maybe just decock it). That’s why the HK lem and Sig dak were created. Federal agencies were demanding safer combat triggers like the German police. And quite frankly all American police guns should be like those. But whatever I’m not in charge of this universe. With a stupid striker fired gun, you pretty much need to keep your finger on the slide and then slam it onto the trigger when you’ve decided you actually need to shoot. Oh and how many times are police giving themselves glockleg? The German police (and European police in general) want safe triggers that still get the job done. Now, as a range toy, fine, get a stupid striker trigger. I have a ton of dasa guns, one 1911, and a p365xl as a recent addition. However I’m seriously eyeballing a p30sk literally for the very reason you don’t like it. Oh and as an aside, a local store is selling a no longer made Sig p239, single stack dasa. Choices choices.
I have 2P 30 SK LEM variants and they are excellent. I like a thicker grip because it distributes the recoil over a wider area in the web of my hand. I would take the HK over a hellcat any day. I even bought a P 2000 SK with an LEM trigger because it was so cheap.
It's YOU but being 4 ft tall! 😂😂😂 The thickness has me concerned about trying to conceal it. I hate DA/SA but I'm thinking Condition 1 with the manual safety. But how did you like it after the 12lb pull first shot? How was the SA shots?
All a matter of opinion. For example, this one of only a few reviews that actually doesn’t like the weapon. Many love it. To each their own. Plus it’s all about what you want. You can’t find a better double action carry pistol for example. There are none. All of those criticisms of the trigger are exactly what someone might want as a matter of safety when carrying.
I love my hk’s I have 12 I think but the da is horrendous on all of them unless you have someone work on it. Which is why the lem is so popular. The regular p30 outperforms this by a significant margin and is still very easy to carry.
I strongly disagree with you about the trigger on the sk. It took me all of 50 rounds to learn it. I shoot the sk just as well as the p30l. And i find the recoil on the sk to be preferable to that of the standard p30. That being said, my groups at 10 yards are a little better with the p30l, but not by much.
So I’ve tried-and owned-numerous HK P30s and I think getting one that’s LEM or has a trigger job from Langdon, Lazy Wolf, GG, etc is a must. And if you get it from Langdon it’s not that much more expensive. The stock DA/SA on P30s is absolutely awful. As for the chunk, that’s certainly a legit complaint. For me personally, however, I much prefer thicker grips; I don’t care for the micro 9/slimline trend. Have a P30SK LEM from Langdon on the way which, I hope, might serve alongside my PX4 Compact Cary as a summer EDC.
Choosing the DA/SA model over the LEM was 100% user fail. Everyone points to the LEM and nobody points to the DA/SA. A tiny amount of research could save you this level of pain. Facts. LEM... LEM... LEM...
This is heartbreaking. I've been eyeing this model in lem as a new carry piece. Your video on the P30 and P30L were very positive. But this one was that much of a turd huh?
Try it before you make a decision. I can’t find anyone who doesn’t like this model. The trigger will break in and you can always get the lem. This guy wants the ease of tiny micros which are all junk. The hk is designed to last indefinitely and it’s exquisitely accurate and reliable. I took my p30sk lem out of the box and it had a really good trigger which is only getting better with use and it’s more accurate than my $1,800 trp.
@cecilwilliams8709 i wish i could have tried it. But i found a used 22' lem sk locally for a good price so i just went ahead and grabbed it. We'll see how it goes. And if i hate it, since i got it used, i won't lose my ass getting rid of it. And it is very gently used. If there wasn't a bit of fouling and brass on the breech face, i would have thought is was unfired.
