Their aluminium wire armour (AWA) for single core cables and steel wire armour (SWA) for multicore cables provide robust mechanical protection making these 11kV cables suitable for direct burial in the ground. These armoured MV mains power cables are more commonly supplied with copper conductors but they are also available with aluminium conductors upon request to the same standard. The copper conductors are stranded (Class 2) whereas the aluminium conductors are compliant to the standard using both stranded and solid (Class 1) constructions.

At 8:10 is what we dont practice greasing up the semicon and then back to the connector or back onto the insulation because the properties being semi conductive can create a path that makes for electricity to flow. Just my 5 cents, still looks good though.

Joints shoud be spaced apart horizontally to avoid arcing (especially in HV) in case of insulation problem.

Not the correct contact plate for the crimper. This might work in an emergency but I would absolutely want to thermal test that joint over rated load to make sure it's good.

And the single phase wrap order is wrong. Glass then rubber than mastic. The shrink sheathe might provide enough insulation on its own. Prefer wide glass cloth instead of glass tape. That grease could provide a shorting path if it gets contaminated. Would rather use spray talc or PTFE tape.

If they were connected in a staggered pattern there would be less of a bulge and wires should be color coded to make sure they don't get connected in the wrong order.
In this case, they’re probably going to do phase testing to work out the crack sequence or it may be a case when simply the only connections they have are single phase

If you’re going to be digging or putting anything in the ground you should take appropriate measures to locate cables request maps of where they are and use detection equipment but these will likely have posts marking their location or some plastic tape in the ground that is thick and a distance above

iwork as a hv jointer on offshore windfarms, anyone who thinks this is good, give your a head a wobble, it takes me 2 maybe 3 hours to properly prepare 1 core for termination...from the very start ...shit, the semi con for example needs to be a perfect transition to insulation the sudden dip will lock air, and or water, with the biuld up of energy and heat that air pocket then triggers something called the corrona affect, I.E ironisation, AKA air becomes conductive, just like lightning, and BOOOOOOOOM failure, thats not even looking into the rest, not to mention no cleaning sanding or heating of cable to create a perfect moisture seal before the joint, cable shit procedure shit joint mega shit, not these guys fault ..untrained and unaware
Your times are way too long then you can find the training videos with the manufacturer of the connector and they do it all in about 15 minutes and that’s the spec they tested it too

Please say what the actual issue is here this case this is a joint rated for this. The location is going to be properly recorded. Yes it will require digging to access but it also stops easy cable theft and the cable is likely marked with posts periodically and people are very much aware that it exists. There is likely, thick plastic protective tape a meter above so anyone digging will be aware
Direct burial is shit. This is poor quality cable and a poor quality splice. No need to expose it to the elements when conduit exists. Nobody is going to steal it either way because they’ll be turned into fried chicken if they try. Nobody is aware it exists, people aren’t that smart. “Thick plastic protective tape” isn’t going to do a damn thing. This entire thing is janky.
