The courtyard in the Magic of Disney Animation building had handprints of 6 of the 9 Old Men. Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Ward Kimball, Marc Davis, Ken O’Connor and Ken Anderson. Also, a deeper cut for me is even before Bear in the Big Blue House, I remember going into that building when it was the Soundstage Restaurant when they had the Aladdin theming.
Okay, I got goosebumps and almost cried when you mentioned where Honey I Shrunk Kids play area. I miss old MGM so bad. And I have always wondered why things once were.
I remember watching Mulch, Sweat, and Shears on the streets of New York several times. Also saw them play in front of the Backlot restaurant near Star Tours. That entire backlot was really cool. Catastrophe Canyon was very cool as well as the old facades of homes used in tv shows. I also enjoyed seeing the wardrobe dept and the props as you rode through the buildings. I also miss the Great Movie Ride. It's funny when you mentioned that you used to work on that attraction. I think it would be so awesome if I had any video footage of the ride and you were our guide. I need a VCR so I can convert my VHS tapes to digital to even see them.
Bear in the big Blue House and Stanley were in the theatre there I am working on editing an old video from 2003 to post up on our channel from that show. Osbourne family spectacle of lights was one of my fav things at Disney
Awesome..... I still like to call that park "MGM" ... I remember when the park first opened who framed Roger rabbit had just come out and they had alot of different movie related props and movie cars around the park... I also liked how dick tracy had a segment on the back lot tour.... my favorite great movie ride scene was the Indiana Jones section... " take a look at that jewel".... the first set of 9 animators for Disney were in the the cement ( I think..)in the back of the animation studio....thanks for sharing... take care... have a great day...thanks...👍👍👍👍
Wow Micah what a trip down memory lane. I remember the honey I shrunk the kids playground as a kid. The great movie still is a sore subject with me the wizard of oz scene just amazed me as a kid and even as an adult. Thankfully I got to take my daughter on it before it closed. It has been truly missed by myself and obviously others like us. Thank you for what you do buddy.
Thanks for sharing Micah! Love the Streets of America and I always got a kick out of the fact that it was used for the opening of WCW Monday Nitro back in the day!
We were at All Star Movies in 2016 in our room looking at the Hollywood studios brochure. When I told my 8 year old granddaughter that Honey I Shrunk the Kids was gone, she got very upset and said she wanted to go home. We didn’t go back to PA, but she sure missed that attraction. It was one place where she could just run around and have fun.
Just the other night, I was looking at my photos from a 1996 vacation to WDW. I have a picture from the tram on the tour as well as one while on the Honey I Shrunk the kids playground. It's changed a lot since that vacation.
I miss cooling off in the Writer's Stop... or the "book nook" as my kids called it. As far as the Great Movie Ride, we went on the new Runaway ride once... once.
Oh, wow, SuperStar Television. I got to play Ethel in the old conveyor belt scene. "Don't put the chocolate in your mouth, it's fake!" BUT they did have a special pouch in the blouse where you could stuff chocolates into your bosom. Now that's some fine memories - WAY back.
Great video Micah!! I miss The Great Movie ride too!! Runaway train is cute but not as good as the movie ride. My favorite part was the gangster scene and the Wizard of Oz. We also liked the Doug Funny show.
I used to absolutely love this park but it's lost its magic for me. There's hardly anything there to suggest "studios" anymore. Too heavy on Star Wars (and I'm a fan!) for my taste and since taking away the Streetmosphere, they've really lost me. Thanks for the nostalgic walk around, Micah!! Love your content 😊
I miss the great movie ride. I remember my tour guide was sweet when she asks a question she didn't want people who was ooohing and ahhhing to answer the questions she wanted a quiet person to answer with there hand raised and that was me. I think she asked us is the actress that plays Mary Poppins was in that scene and I answered correctly with Julie Andrew's. Mind you I was in high school so that was 16 years ago
They should put “well hidden” speakers in the area where “Honey, I shrunk the kids” area was. Have their voices shouting lines from the movie etc… THAT would be Imagineers at best!
My favourite ride was always 'The great movie ride'. Thanks for the memories! 👍
You are the best at the Nostalgia trips for sure!

That brought back some great memories! 😀
Loved Alien on GMR, the smell just got me. Lol

loved the great movie ride
Come on Micah!!!! Release the vid of your journey through the movies. I bet you were a great addition to the ride seeing as you loved movies.
My favorite GMR scene was the western stop. Great MGM history video! I learned some new things.

I would love to hear about your stint on the Great Movie Ride! Maybe you could collaborate with Promise on that one👍😊✌
Thanks for the update, including the changes, Micah. It's been awhile for me. CHANGE is inevitable, I guess.🤔
Great movie ride was the best! Stinks they got rid of it.
The Wizard of Oz scene was my fav.

I loved the animation tour. This space is under utilized.

Loved Wizard of Oz on that ride! Really felt like a movie set from the 1940’s 😢

Not on the list, but I loved Sounds Dangerous! with Drew Carey narrating.
rip old Hollywood studios. You are missed

Please show more of old Disney compared to now X
GMR Video
We still waiting 😎😎😎😎
The Studio has totally lost it's studio feel and the Hollywood atmosphere, only EPCOT is even more boring for me
